00:02Here at the Thamworth Salyards, there's 37 young aspiring auctioneers, and that's actually
00:10a record number for an auctioneer school in Thamworth. But amongst the blokes, there's also
00:17two young women, Claudia and Hannah, who are also looking towards their future to be auctioneers.
00:25I've always had a passion for cattle, and what grew from there is a passion for people
00:30and networking and building relationships over time with many different people and seeing
00:35so many parts of Australia as well. I think it's really special, and I love to continue
00:39to grow that. I think it's a really exciting time for women. I think we shouldn't put too
00:44much importance on the difference in women and men. I think as long as you're hardworking,
00:49enthusiastic and you've got a little bit of grit, I think this industry is so rewarding
00:54and can take you so far. Once you get out and do the job, you grow
00:58that little bit of respect, and it wouldn't matter if you're a young bloke in the industry,
01:01you've got to earn that respect. It's a great industry to be in, and I've found it really
01:05welcoming as a woman, so yeah. I like tracking all your livestock straight from your producer,
01:11going across to your sale yards or private sale, what not, and feed lot, and then you go into
01:17the export and sort of following that sort of production chain is very interesting. So yeah,
01:23there's a lot to enjoy in it.
