Though it might not be pretty, this is the best way to enjoy a poached egg without cooking one over the stove. In this video, Nicole shows you how to poach an egg in the microwave in under one minute. After adding the egg yolk to a water and white vinegar solution, puncture the yolk with a toothpick before cooking in the microwave for around 45 seconds.

00:00We're going to make poached eggs in the microwave
00:02because sometimes we just can't be bothered.
00:04So you start with some water in a bowl, a mug.
00:07To that, you just want to add a splash of white vinegar,
00:10white wine vinegar.
00:11That kind of helps the whites coagulate a little bit.
00:13Crack the egg into water and vinegar.
00:15You want to take a toothpick
00:17and just slightly puncture the yolk.
00:20That kind of keeps it from exploding in the microwave.
00:22Then loosely cover.
00:23I'm gonna do 45 seconds.
00:26Gave a little boom at 40 seconds.
00:28As you can see, the white is cooked.
00:31The yolk is runny.
00:32It might not be the most beautifully perfect poached egg,
00:35but it definitely works in a pinch.
