00:01Homemade custard, just like the classic, but better, with all of my grandma's little tricks, super creamy, and with results
00:11like the ones you see here, or like the ones you see here, if you dare.
00:16Look at that. Amazing.
00:18I promise you, they are simply spectacular, super flavorful, incredibly easy to make.
00:25You're going to love them. Here I go. Look, check it out. Awesome.
00:33My grandmother didn't finish them like anyone else I know. She gave them an original, spectacular touch that was simple
00:40and easy to make.
00:42You'll tell me at the end if you liked it, or if you just prefer the cinnamon and the cookie.
00:47Stick around to see it, and let me know.
00:50First ingredient, one liter of milk, which is about four cups. I'm going to use whole milk, but reduced fat
00:57or skim milk works too.
01:00We set aside a little bit, 100 milliliters of this milk that we'll use later.
01:07Here we go, the 900 milliliters of milk into the saucepan.
01:13Ingredient. A cinnamon stick.
01:16My grandma's little trick. She used to break it into pieces when adding it to the milk.
01:21Anyone know why? If you know in the comments. Maybe it doesn't matter at all. Maybe it matters a lot.
01:27My grandma did it, and I'm going to do it too.
01:30So here I go, with the strength of a titan, breaking the stick into pieces. I think that's enough.
01:37We add the cinnamon.
01:38We're also going to use a lemon. Mine has been rolling around in the fridge for about almost a month.
01:45So it's time to use it. We peel it, and in it goes. The peel goes in too.
01:51Now we turn on the heat and boil it. We wait for it to start boiling.
01:56It will take very little time. In less than two minutes, it will start to steam.
02:02And that's the moment we were waiting for to cover our pot, turn off the heat, and infuse for 10
02:10quick minutes.
02:11The milk that has already boiled, we're going to leave it for 10 minutes, right there, letting it infuse to
02:20the max.
02:21Next ingredient. Five eggs. Actually, we're not going to use all five eggs.
02:26We're going to use five egg yolks. So we separate the yolks from the whites.
02:32And with the whites, if you want, you can make yourself a protein shake.
02:36Well, thanks to this little gadget and the devilish speed I move at, we'll have our whites and our yolks
02:43separated, looking so nice and pristine.
02:46Oh, as you're seeing in the video, in a matter of a minute, it couldn't be any easier. Here I
02:54go.
02:55So, one in there. A little shake so the egg white falls off completely, leaving us with the perfect yolk.
03:03Here I go. All right. So the five yolks, there they are. And I'll save the whites for another day.
03:11Next ingredient. Sugar.
03:14120 grams of sugar that I'm going to add to the yolks. Mix them together.
03:21Hand whisk and making as little mess as possible. A super easy recipe.
03:28I love these recipes. And I bet you will, too.
03:32The color of the custard depends on the quality of the eggs.
03:35Better eggs mean better yolks.
03:37And better yolks mean a yellower color, richer looking, and much better.
03:42If you live in a city like me, and can't find good eggs because they're all supermarket crap, you can
03:50use the old trick.
03:51You add a few spoonfuls of vanilla extract.
03:55Two. And it'll get a much nicer color.
03:59This is definitely worse than the plague, but at least the color will look super, super good.
04:04And not some pale custard. That doesn't look appealing at all.
04:09The sugar is well mixed with the yolks.
04:12And now we add the reserved 100 ml of milk, which is at room temperature,
04:17and stir so that both ingredients dissolve completely in the milk.
04:22And on to the next ingredient. 40 grams of cornstarch.
04:25It's not much. Just a small bowl like this.
04:27You add it right there.
04:30No problem, because this mixture is at the ideal temperature to completely dissolve the cornstarch into one smooth, wonderful mixture.
04:41Now for the infused milk.
04:44We strain it.
04:45That way, I get rid of the lemon peel and the chopped cinnamon stick as well.
04:51We add it to the mixture in two batches and keep stirring constantly.
04:56That's how you'll get your custard super creamy.
04:59A grandma's little trick.
05:00Come on, let's kick it up a notch and we'll have them ready in no time.
05:06We add the other half and finish stirring.
05:09It's going to take you very little time.
05:14Well now, with all the ingredients well combined, we pour our little mixture into the pot.
05:21Put it back on, turn on the heat, medium heat, and stirring constantly.
05:26Be careful because it sticks.
05:28We'll wait for it to thicken.
05:30It will take five minutes to be like this.
05:33Look at that, creamy yet liquid.
05:36And now we assemble cookie at the bottom, little cream on top.
05:40Wonderful, why do I put it at the bottom?
05:43Because it turns out so much better than on top.
05:46There it goes.
05:48We're going to prepare four.
05:50And as you can see, in the end, I went with the narrow glass, the medium-sized one, which
05:58is an absolute wonder.
06:01A generous first layer of cream.
06:04Another biscuit to make up the middle of our wonderful custard with Maria biscuits.
06:10Here you go.
06:12Four little biscuits.
06:13There you have them.
06:14Fill up the glass, but don't reach the rim.
06:16Leave a little space.
06:17Come on, about a centimeter or so.
06:21Now we top our dessert with a cookie, which in this case, I've chosen a square one, because
06:27I'm an incorrigible man.
06:30There I go.
06:31A cookie on each of our desserts.
06:33And of course, a little bit of cinnamon.
06:37Because what would homemade custard be without cinnamon?
06:42Not much, really.
06:43Here I go.
06:45Spielberg shot.
06:46But spectacular result.
06:50And now, the finishing touch my grandmother used to make.
06:54Incredible.
06:55When the custard is cold, add a good drizzle of honey and a whole bunch of cinnamon.
07:01If you put too little, it's not going to work.
07:04You need quite a bit of cinnamon.
07:06This will form a spectacular caramel once it cools down and blends together.
07:12Look how good these two look that I made with my grandmother's finishing touch.
07:17And also the other two, which I leave like this for the kids who prefer them, without honey.
07:24They're not big fans of honey.
07:26Here we go.
07:28Look.
07:28Well, that's all there is to it.
07:32Time to eat.
07:33Homemade custard with my grandmother's little tricks and a spectacular final touch.
07:37You have to make this recipe.
07:40It's super easy, and they'll turn out spectacular and amazing just like mine.
07:46Riz Riz Tras.
07:48Who can top that?
07:49Wonderful.
07:50Grab a spoon and straight to the bottom.
07:53Here we go.
07:54Look at that.
07:55Wow.
07:56How wonderful.
07:57The truth is, I love these homemade desserts, and I should make them more often.
08:05What do you think?
08:06Do you like them?
08:07Of course you do, man.
08:19I don't want to jinx it, baby.
08:23Can't drink it myself, but it's fine.
08:31Don't want to overthink it, baby.
08:35It's just me.
08:36It's just me.
