00:04Nolo is expected to rapidly strengthen, becoming a major Category 3 hurricane as it approaches Hawaii
00:09before passing just south of the Big Island and slowing down this weekend.
00:13And that slow movement could mean days of flooding rain.
00:16The Big Island could see 8 to 24 inches, with 24 to even up to 55 inches around Hilo.
00:22And that could trigger life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides, especially across the Big Island.
00:26Now, wind is another concern. Gusts of 40 to 60 miles per hour are possible across parts of Hawaii and
00:31Maui counties,
00:32but the strongest gusts could reach 95 miles an hour.
00:35And along the southern Big Island, 3 to 6 feet of storm surge is possible, with locally up to 7
00:40feet.
