00:00So to prevent him from drinking the iced tea, I will stick one of my appendages in the iced tea.
00:04I love baby three. Look at her eyes. They're devilish.
00:39Awesome. Come on in. I've been waiting for you. Welcome. Entrenou.
00:44Hi, I'm Boots Electric from the Eagles of Death Metal, and this is our tour bus.
00:48This is our home away from home when we're not on the road.
00:52It's both a boring and fascinating place, so I'm going to try to bore the crap out of you as
00:58much as I can
00:58with all the mundane, normal weirdness that we get along to in a bus.
01:03Like any home, it's a bit messy, so come on in.
01:08This is my wife, Phoenix. Hi.
01:11And also a member of the band with her doll.
01:13This is Luke, one of the up-and-coming rock-and-rollers of the world that I like to hang
01:16out with.
01:18I'll give you some quick little bits of information.
01:21We always have phenomenal stereo systems on a bus.
01:25So this stereo system is no exception.
01:28It's an incredible sound system where we can blast the ears off of everything.
01:32We normally have satellite television, which is pretty amazing, but not in the city of Chicago because of all the
01:39buildings.
01:40Now, you're also going to notice a little accoutrement that we decorated with.
01:44These are like, you know, scent cakes.
01:48Interestingly enough, one of our crew dudes, Eric, thought it was a cookie.
01:52And actually, the Bigfoot one.
01:54I bought him the Bigfoot one, which he thought was a cookie.
01:56And I watched him take it into his bunk.
01:58And I'm like, dude, you think that's a cookie, don't you?
02:00And he goes, yeah, it is.
02:02And I'm like, it's not a cookie.
02:03It's not a cookie.
02:05See, just this is his band, Hondo.
02:07So, who puts out cassette tapes?
02:09He puts out cassette tapes.
02:11It's pretty epic.
02:13I collect hats everywhere I go.
02:15So you're going to see hats everywhere.
02:16You're going to see.
02:17And then also, like, weird things like, who doesn't need a crocodile or alligator head on their tour bus?
02:23It's real.
02:23And, one more time, it's real.
02:27It'll get you.
02:29And then this is a big hat, because I don't know if you've noticed, but everyone in the world seems
02:33to be having something called a big hat contest.
02:36Like, everyone's got, like, a big hat.
02:38So I was like, dude, I want to be in on the big hat contest.
02:41So I got a big hat.
02:43And then we stopped at a truck stop.
02:45Here's another hat.
02:45This is what I love.
02:46It's adjusted, and I reshaped it, so it would, like, look like I just got off a horse.
02:51Now, here's something you might not see at every tour bus, but we have throwing axes on our tour bus.
02:57I got this at a Buc-ee's, which I was very proud of.
03:01My friend, my best friend Joshua loves Bass Pro Shops.
03:04I love Buc-ee's, because you can buy literally a throwing axe with a cool rubber top.
03:10And then you can just put the rubber topper back on if you don't want to, like, cut people.
03:15It's good for throwing at trees and other wooden objects, you know.
03:21Now, we're touring with a band called Mountainhead.
03:23So we typically, you know, when we love the band that we're touring with, we will have the merch.
03:30Now, David Lee Roth famously calls these things disco submarines.
03:36That's really what it is.
03:38It's a submarine.
03:38Normally, this side slides out, but we can't slide it out because of the traffic.
03:42Oh, oh, oh.
03:44Oh, yeah.
03:48I love these.
03:50How could you forget?
03:50Okay, so you may have heard of LaBuboos.
03:52They're not LaBuboos.
03:53But these are not LaBuboos.
03:55And these were purchased on an auction.
03:57This is Mexican Loco.
04:02And this is Senorita Jones.
04:06Crazy Money is around here somewhere.
04:08Yeah, my other one is around here somewhere.
04:10That one's named Crazy Money.
04:14And we had a wonderful fireman.
04:16Oh, here's, like, like I said, like, we've got ant ears going on.
04:20And then, oh, what's this?
04:21A knife.
04:22Whoops.
04:23And then, oh, what's this?
04:26Another knife.
04:27But look at this.
04:28It's like a spatula, which I love.
04:29And then a fan of ours made us these really awesome leather wallets.
04:34So, whenever there's a fire, my favorite thing to do is to pretend like I'm a fireman.
04:39So, I can, no, I'm just kidding.
04:40But it would be great.
04:45It's real.
04:45It's a real one.
04:46See, now it won't come off my head.
04:48Show the side.
04:49Yeah.
04:52And back, and back.
04:54Head back, yeah.
04:56Rod.
04:57Our firefighter.
04:58A firefighter gave this to me in San Diego from Orange, California.
05:01And he will be at the LA show.
05:02And this was a, this is an out-of-service helmet because it took a, it got a chip.
05:07It took a hit.
05:07Yeah.
05:08We love our first responders like something fierce.
05:11Which, also, interestingly, when we were in New Orleans, see, this is the kind of thing
05:15you'll find on tour bus.
05:16They're everywhere.
05:17One of the police officers that came to our show gave me his unit coin, which is a great
05:22honor.
05:23And then, from when my wife and I got married, we have a book of matches.
05:30Yeah!
05:31That's right.
05:31And then, that's her sock puppet doll.
05:34I have a lot of little friends of them.
05:39My son is on tour.
05:40So, here.
05:41Also, I'm going to stop, I want to stop at the microwave section because, like on any good
05:45tour bus, this is the area where the second you fire it up, it shuts the power down everywhere
05:49else.
05:50Which is a fascinating and interesting part.
05:52So, we like crustless apple or peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwiches.
05:58We do?
05:59Yeah.
05:59So, we got a freezer filled with them and ice because I love ice.
06:03And then, in here is a hodgepodge of weird, like, muscle building things.
06:08Orange juice, iced tea, beer.
06:10Oh, explain the sweet tea epidemic.
06:14Okay, so.
06:15It's important on this tour bus.
06:17I love sweet tea.
06:18So does Eric.
06:19And so does Eric, who's our stage manager.
06:22So, to prevent him from drinking the iced tea, I will stick one of my appendages in the
06:25iced tea.
06:27And because my wife recently tattooed my appendage at the base of it, I don't know if I can talk
06:32about this, but I'm going to, maybe you can edit it out.
06:34So, I'll tell them, I'm going to stick it in up to the tattoo.
06:37Do not drink.
06:37Which is pretty far.
06:39Which is pretty far.
06:42So, yeah.
06:44So, that's, you know, these are things that happen on a tour bus.
06:46These are the actions that one will take in order to.
06:49Preserve the sweet tea.
06:50Preserve.
06:51The sanctity of the sweet tea.
06:53So, if you open it up, it's pretty typical.
06:55Oh, there's my tahini and my soup.
06:58My wife loves Pokemon, so we get these.
07:00And then, I don't know if anyone's seen this, but this is a new Campbell's grilled cheese
07:04and tomato.
07:04And I'm just a sucker for the packaging.
07:06I mean, look how awesome that looks.
07:08And then, of course, we like our spicy tapatio bowls.
07:12And then, she likes, of course, she likes her tahini.
07:15I think everything's spicy, spicy, spicy.
07:19And then, really good things like, where's my chocolate peanut?
07:21I mean, I have chocolate peanut butter somewhere and it's so good to eat with Ritz crackers.
07:24You do?
07:24Yeah.
07:25I bought chocolate peanut butter.
07:26You did?
07:26Yeah, I did.
07:28I bought it before we went on tour, babe.
07:29Oh, God.
07:31I brought that from the house.
07:32Ew.
07:32With chips.
07:33See, but then, that's not the only way to sit there is snacks.
07:36Then, you can, like, get down with, like, oh, what?
07:39Oh, what?
07:41Where we have our clothes.
07:42These are more spicy candies.
07:43Spicy candies, seaweed Pringles.
07:47My favorite, the smoky bacon Pringles, which are kind of, like, unusually really, really good.
07:52Um, and then you can get into the bottom and then what?
07:56Oh, no, wait, we got Kit Kats.
07:57Yeah, we got Kit Kats and we got Tutti Frutti's.
08:00A whole big bag of Malt-O-Meal made.
08:02Malt-O-Meal makes a variety of cereals, including Malt-O-Meal, but they make Tutti Frutti's.
08:07That brown bag right there, that was from, um, someone in Toronto gave us that, and he has a farm,
08:13and there's, like, homemade meat tallow and, and, and...
08:20Homemade, uh...
08:21Maple syrup.
08:22Maple syrup.
08:24Premium quality tattoo bomb.
08:26Two of those, because I'm a tattooist.
08:28Because my wife is an incredible tattoo artist.
08:30Don't sell yourself short.
08:31And this stuff, it's so good.
08:34Okay, don't, oh, I can't watch this.
08:36Why won't it open?
08:37I don't know.
08:38Who resealed it?
08:39I, I, I, I don't know.
08:41I literally can't open this, babe.
08:42Good, good, good, good, good.
08:43Well, I'm gonna pound it when I do.
08:45This is something I brought myself.
08:47You know what I mean?
08:48The spicy stuff is meat.
08:49This is something I brought myself.
08:51Just to make sure my wife has it.
08:53The Pokemon chicken soup is definitely something I brought myself.
08:57Um, this is...
08:59Senna Rita Jones and Mexican Loco.
09:00I brought myself.
09:01This, a fan gave us.
09:03Yeah.
09:04The axe, I bought at Buc-ee's.
09:07Um, you made this, didn't you?
09:08My friend did.
09:09His friend made this amazing poster.
09:11Oh, right.
09:12I mean, it's amazing.
09:15And, which to me is what the spirit of rock and roll is all about anyway.
09:19I also like to have some of my capes handy.
09:21Because I wear a lot of capes.
09:24Because nothing says, a touch of class, like a cape.
09:30Oh, awesome.
09:31Oh, that's for you, babe.
09:32Thanks.
09:34I drink Dr. Pepper.
09:36So, this bus is filled with Dr. Pepper.
09:39Because I can pound about 30 Dr. Peppers a day.
09:42Easily.
09:43Every time we get one of these, it's always a venue.
09:46Oh, crazy, uh, crazy money.
09:48That's crazy money.
09:49Yeah.
09:50Crazy money's from home, too.
09:51This is called a baby three.
09:55That's crazy money.
09:56I love baby three.
09:58Look at her eyes.
10:00They're devilish.
10:01It's weird, babe.
10:01She's up to no good.
10:03Weird.
10:03She's up to no good, and you gotta watch her, because she'll get you.
10:06Getting weirder.
10:08Okay, those are clothes I gotta watch.
10:10See, there's no end to what you're gonna find.
10:12Basically, the whole tour bus is Jesse's SHIT in every corner.
10:17Which you're gonna see.
10:18And everyone else has to deal with it.
10:19So, the bathroom has got a shower.
10:28But we keep beer in here.
10:31And it can come out if you need to take a shower.
10:33It's a very nice shower.
10:35There's a rule about the bus.
10:37There's no number two on a bus, and there's no toilet paper on a bus.
10:41And if you follow those rules, you'll pretty much be okay.
10:46Because everyone will know if you do anything else.
10:49So, this is a bunk area.
10:51It's got 12 bunks.
10:52Let's see if I can turn them.
10:53There we go.
10:57This is my son's bunk.
10:59You can see all of his stuff in it.
11:00Okay, so there's a few things about bunks.
11:02There's A, there's the hierarchy of the bunk.
11:04Which is, who gets what bunk where.
11:07The premium bunks are always going to be the middle bunks.
11:11And that's where the band is.
11:13So, Lee is here.
11:14Scott's here.
11:15Dustin's here.
11:17Our sound man is here.
11:18Because he's a very important part of the process.
11:20This is our junk bunk.
11:21And a junk bunk is a bunk where just all luggage, extra luggage can go.
11:26The upper bunks are the ones that are like, kind of tedious.
11:31Because you can fall out of them.
11:33You can, just getting, you know, like when you're tired.
11:35And you just want to like, get up.
11:37You know, it's like, just going to the bathroom in the morning.
11:40So, imagine getting out of the third bunk.
11:43It's tedious.
11:45It's tedious.
11:46My wife likes the floor bunk.
11:48Because she just gets to roll out of the bunk.
11:52And because I'm a super dick, I take the whole back lounge.
11:57So, now you're about to see a real fun mess.
12:00Let me get the lights on.
12:05So, my bunk is right here.
12:06And if you get the camera on it, you'll see that it.
12:13Of course, my blanket is the Shining blanket.
12:17From the Shining.
12:19And of course, I have my Michael Buble pillow.
12:23Because I love him.
12:25That normally sleeps right there with me.
12:28And then, you know, other accoutrement.
12:29Other assorted dolls.
12:31And some makeup.
12:33And shoes.
12:34And then I got this.
12:35If you can see this amazing Elvis thing I just got.
12:37That's got it's own seatbelt now.
12:39Because I don't want it to go anywhere.
12:43Shoes.
12:43Lots of shoes.
12:44Lots of boots.
12:45Lots of clothes here.
12:47And then, you know, they decorate rock and roll buses.
12:50Interestingly, like, there's this cool backstage pass thing.
12:54I normally keep it very dark.
12:55There's two TVs in case you need to watch the same thing.
12:58And two different sides of the bus.
13:01Some people find that very important.
13:02Like, I really want to watch this twice at the same time.
13:06And then, from outside, you can people watch.
13:08Now, interesting.
13:09An interesting detail.
13:10I don't know if it's interesting.
13:11But all rock and roll buses had back windows that would open.
13:17And they just this year started to seal them.
13:21Probably because people like me would shoot fireworks outside of the bus.
13:25Because we were in Detroit a few years back.
13:27And I literally had a ground war with mortar-style fireworks.
13:32And you can't escape the bus as quickly now without the back.
13:36You know, in case something weird is going on.
13:39You're just like, I think I'm over this.
13:41I think I'm going to leave.
13:43Now, little hidden things.
13:45We have little drawers back here.
13:46And little things are hidden.
13:47And one little thing that I like to hide is every episode of The Office.
13:55I always have it hidden on me in case I need to watch it.
14:00Because I love this show.
14:01I think like most Americans and people around the world, we love this show.
14:05I also like to make sure my wife's slippers are back here.
14:08Because, A, she's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my life.
14:11And the things that she loves, I love.
14:13So, even if she's sleeping in another bunk, I know it's corny.
14:19But I like to see her slippers.
14:20It makes me feel better.
14:22Just in general.
14:26She calls it the rat place, my wife.
14:28She's like, I want to go to the rat place.
14:31And I'm always like, what the is the rat place?
14:34You know.
14:35And I'm like, that's not a rat.
14:37It's a beaver.
14:38She's like, it's a rat.
14:39I'm like, no.
14:40It's a beaver.
14:41Is that a rat?
14:42And then we have, I don't know if you noticed, the high-tech touch panel.
14:47So all the lights go out.
14:50Or on, as it were.
14:52Whatever the case may be.
14:53Gear that's hanging in here.
14:54More shoes.
14:55My very offensive leather bags.
14:58I do have very offensive leather bags.
15:00Let's see what's in here.
15:02Oh, yeah.
15:03Phoenix went to the Harry Potter store yesterday.
15:06And discovered that she's in Slytherin.
15:08She did the sorting process.
15:12So she's in Slytherin.
15:13And then there's just other assorted, you know.
15:16I have a lot of clothes on to her because I'm very vain.
15:19And I like to change a lot.
15:23And, ooh, I'm going to wear these pants later.
15:26And then if you look at this side, it's filled with tattoo equipment.
15:29That's all tattoo equipment.
15:31More of my wife's adorable slippers, which she got at Bucky's.
15:35They're really big.
15:36They make her feet look insanely big.
15:39And we love the Shoes Company Tux.
15:41Everyone on this bus, everyone on this bus wears tux.
15:45I also got a new pair of Tacovas yesterday cowboy boots, which I love.
15:50And I also have a thing for handbags.
15:52So you'll see a lot of duffel bags on an Eagles of Death Metal Tour.
15:55Because I like duffel bags.
15:56You never know when you need to fill a duffel bag and hit the road.
16:00So, and then everything closes, too.
16:03So everything, as I said, a disco submarine is certainly what this is.
16:08So once you close it in, then the bunk area becomes sealed off from the rest of the area.
16:13I mean, just look.
16:14You can just see, like, how hard it would be to get in there.
16:20I don't want to have to do it.
16:21But I didn't have any problem with my son having to do it.
16:24See, and once you...
16:29See, then you got the nice runner lights.
16:31Everything looks very...
16:32Fancy.
16:33Tron-y.
16:34Like the movie Tron.
16:36Which I love that movie.
16:39Do you like the movie?
16:40This is my son, by the way.
16:42He's been on the road.
16:44He just got a tattoo.
16:45My wife just gave a tattoo.
16:47Show him the tattoo.
16:52Which is another cool thing that happens on a rock bus.
16:55You know, there's a lot of, like, myth or stereotypes about what goes on a tour bus.
17:02Yeah?
17:03Like what?
17:05Allegedly.
17:07Allegedly.
17:08But we're one big happy family.
17:12So the tour bus is really genuinely our home.
17:17And in a minute, I'll walk you.
17:18So most rock and rollers, most people that tour, their whole world is the tour bus to the back of
17:23the club.
17:24That's how the whole world can look.
17:26You know what I mean?
17:27And if you're going to come on a tour bus every day, you want it to be as messy as
17:32possible.
17:33You want it to have as much random food everywhere.
17:36Like, you can literally eat off the floor on our bus just because there's food everywhere.
17:40On the floor.
17:42Right?
17:43What?
17:43Just kidding.
17:45No.
17:46Sure.
17:47If you need to get into a knife fight at any given moment, you can pull the blade.
17:52You're done.
17:53Like, what if you're like...
17:55If you need a firefighter, we're okay.
17:56If you need to fight a fire with a blade, if you need to be like, dude, I'm going to
18:00throw an axe at you.
18:01Cool.
18:01Because I got it right here.
18:04You can also make coffee.
18:06Wow.
18:07Yeah, with a Keurig.
18:08You're just covering everything, right?
18:09Yeah, I'm covering all the bases.
18:10Here's a hair clip from Bucky's.
18:13That's mine from the rat store.
18:15From the rat store.
18:16The rat store.
18:17As I pointed out earlier, the rat store.
18:19It's not a rat store, babe.
18:21It's a rat store.
18:22See?
18:22It's not a rat store.
18:24But it's not.
18:25It's a rat store.
18:25But see, it's really done.
18:27Rat store.
18:29These are my new...
18:31Like, I'll also tell you something just as a side note.
18:34I just switched to in-ear monitors, which is a game changer.
18:38You switched like a year and a half.
18:40Yeah, but I just got my professional in-ear monitors today.
18:45Not today, but this week.
18:49And it's a game changer.
18:50I don't know if most people are aware of it, but when you're on stage, you have monitors
18:53on the floor so you can hear what you're doing.
18:55It eliminates all those and they go directly into the ear so that you can't hear anything
18:59else but what you're doing, which has got some benefits and it's also got some negatives to
19:05it.
19:05Not being able to hear the audience really will affect.
19:07I always will pull one out so I can hear the audience.
19:10Yeah, that's what I'm starting to do.
19:12Yeah.
19:12We also went to Third Band Records in Detroit and all I got was this lousy lighter.
19:19No, I'm just kidding.
19:20It's an awesome lighter.
19:21I'll light many cigarettes with it.
19:25Okay, that was...
19:27This is a wrap-up of our bus.
19:28I hope you enjoyed it.
19:30I hope it wasn't too boring or too mundane because we just live regular lives.
19:35We're just regular people who roll around in a big disco submarine.
19:39If you're interested in our band, you can go to eaglesofdeathmetal.com.

19:50I would love to see you.
19:52I'm very welcoming.
19:54My son's is called Beef Holiday.
19:58He takes these often.
20:00It's not an ironic name.
20:01He literally takes Beef Holidays all the time and it's part of his work contract.
20:07I don't even know how we got that worked out, but however you did that, that was amazing.
20:12But you're always welcome with Eagles of Death Metal and every night is ladies' night.
20:17So, thank you.
20:18Oh, and also, I love Chicago.
