00:00everyone in the NHL is a competitor, and they're going to tell you that it's Stanley Cup or bust
00:04every single year, and there's always pressure of being in the National Hockey League. And for
00:07coaches, there's only 32 of these jobs, so there's always going to be pressure. But I think there are
00:12three guys who there's actually quite a bit of pressure on this season. So here are my three
00:16coaches who are on the hot seat, I think, going into the 2026-27 season.
00:26So, coming in at number three, it's not getting easier for him, but Scott Arneal with the Winnipeg
00:32Jets. There's obviously a lot of conversations happening around Winnipeg right now. As we speak,
00:38there's the Connor Hellebuck debate that is going on, and the frustration around everything there.
00:43And so I can understand why maybe he might have a bit of an out, but this is still a
00:47team that
00:48signed some big contracts and is hoping to take some steps forward. And last year was obviously
00:52a significant down year, but I still feel like there is going to be pressure on him to either
01:00get this team to where they need to get to, or to start to see some development from young players
01:06like a Perfetti and some of those guys, so you can feel confident in this guy in the future. It
01:11just,
01:11it feels like he is in a bit of an unwinnable situation right now out there in Winnipeg. At number
01:16two, Sheldon Keefe. A weird year in New Jersey a season ago, and you look at all the talent that
01:22is there, and you would assume that this is going to be a hockey team that is able to break
01:26through
01:27and be a real threat. And just every year, it feels like by January, it's like, oh,
01:32they're kind of done. And that, you're not going to trade all those young kids away,
01:37so the pressure now goes on Sheldon Keefe for that one. And at number one, this one, I don't like
01:43to be
01:43a hot take guy, and I don't think, like, I'm not trying to be like, oh, wow, click on this
01:47one.
01:47I just, I feel like the, the, the leash that winning a Stanley Cup gets you is now gone for
01:55Jared Bednar. Um, they bitterly disappointing end to the season last year. They were the winners of
02:02the trade deadline by a ton. They have one of the best rosters in the NHL. And yes, they won
02:08the
02:08Stanley Cup a little bit ago, but I think that that part is over now, and it's time to get
02:14to
02:14winning again with Nathan McKinnon. You now have a $20 million guy on your blue line going into next
02:20year, but there's pressure now, right, on, on all of these guys. It was one thing to win when McKinnon
02:24had the most team-friendly contract in the NHL that wasn't an ELC, and you had Makar, one of the
02:29best
02:29defensemen in the league, on an entry-level deal. But now, it, you want to win again, and you have
02:34a
02:34roster that should be able to win, and so I wonder if this year doesn't end with the names getting
02:39carved into a trophy if Bednar ends up paying the price for that. So, those are the three guys who
02:45I
