00:00You're hilarious!
00:03You haven't had the punchline yet.
00:10Movie tie-in games aren't nearly as common as they used to be,
00:13but there are a few franchises out there whose popularity still leads to the occasional adaptation.
00:19Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're looking at old movie franchises that are still getting video games.
00:29But before we dive in, we publish new content all week long,
00:32so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:38Indiana Jones Franchise
00:46Indiana Jones began starring in video games soon after the release of his first adventure way back on the Atari
00:522600.
00:53Even within long periods of time without any new movies, Indy still made semi-regular appearances in the virtual world.
01:00Whether they were adaptations of the movies or completely original tales,
01:04it kept the IP alive in the hearts of gamers everywhere.
01:07While Indy did take some time off in the 2010s,
01:102024's The Great Circle propelled him back into the spotlight.
01:14It was great to see, especially after Dial of Destiny failed at the box office the previous year.
01:23The game received a ton of praise and awards, as well as DLC in 2025.
01:29Following its success, Lucasfilm Games VP Douglas Riley stated the company's interest in exploring more stories.
01:35So, hopefully this franchise will live on in video games for quite a while.
01:39My advice? Don't let go of your dreams, kid.
01:43Thank you, sir.
01:44Starship Troopers Franchise
01:54Although most of its sequels never found much of an audience,
01:57the original Starship Troopers movie is a cult classic,
02:00packed to the brim with marine on giant alien bug violence.
02:04Needless to say, its premise translates pretty well to a video game.
02:08The series received several games throughout its lifespan,
02:11mostly first-person shooters and real-time strategy games.
02:14While the last movie so far was released back in 2017,
02:18the video game side has shown no signs of slowing down.
02:29We've still gotten several releases throughout the 2020s from different developers,
02:34with the most recent, Ultimate Bug War, released in 2026.
02:38A reboot of the film series is currently in development from District 9 director Neil Blomkamp,
02:43so we may still have more games to come.
02:55Halloween Franchise
03:03One of the slasher genre's pioneers, Halloween has gone through ups and downs over the decades,
03:08especially when it comes to video games.
03:10The first movie received an objectively bad adaptation on the Atari 2600 in 1983,
03:16but the franchise didn't fully embrace video games until relatively recently.
03:21Michael Myers made guest appearances in games like Dead by Daylight,
03:25Fortnite, and the Call of Duty series,
03:27coinciding with the more recent reboot trilogy that ended with 2022's Halloween ends.
03:38Yet, as always, Michael didn't stop.
03:41In 2024, WayForward released Retro Realms Arcade Halloween,
03:46a 16-bit platformer that put players in the shoes of the iconic killer.
03:50And in 2026, Ilphonic released Halloween the Game,
03:54an asymmetrical game where one player hunts the other for survivors.
04:05RoboCop Franchise
04:14There may only be four RoboCop movies as of right now,
04:18the last of which was a poorly received reboot in 2014,
04:21but movie fans can always turn to video games.
04:24Each movie in the original trilogy received a tie-in across a multitude of platforms,
04:29as did the reboot,
04:30and there were a handful of games released in the 2000s.
04:34What really earns the series a spot on this list is 2023's Rogue City.
04:38Guys, guys, we've got company.
04:41Anyone expecting a silver freak?
04:48Drop it, scum.
04:49The franchise was essentially dead,
04:52yet developer Taeyeon brought it back to life with a solid first-person shooter.
04:56Not only was it fun, but it pleased longtime fans of the movies.
05:00It also got a DLC expansion in 2025, and we can only hope there's more to come.
05:05What are your prime directives?
05:07Serve the public trust.
05:10Protect the innocent.
05:11Uphold the law.
05:13Jurassic Park Franchise
05:26Trapped on a theme park island full of creatures that should be extinct,
05:29Jurassic Park is a fantastic premise for a movie franchise.
05:33And it obviously lends itself extremely well to video games, too.
05:37Fans have been eating well ever since the 1993 original.
05:40In fact, it and its two sequels all received multiple adaptations on different platforms
05:46from different developers.
05:47Even when there weren't any movies, there were still games,
05:50albeit much smaller ones.
05:52It wasn't surprising that when the franchise was revived with Jurassic World in 2015,
05:57the video game side started to pick up steam again.
06:01Welcome to Jurassic Park.
06:06Mostly, it's been kept alive by the Jurassic World Evolution series,
06:10a management sim that puts you in charge of your own dinosaur theme park,
06:14the most recent of which was released in 2025.
06:19Fine work.
06:20I respect someone who can get results.
06:23And get them fast.
06:24Saw Franchise
06:26Some never appreciate life until they have to work to save their own.
06:32They go from cradle to grave, expecting the world to give them everything.
06:36Saw is one of the most financially successful horror franchises out there,
06:40thanks to smaller budgets and huge earnings at the box office.
06:43In 2009, Konami published its first tie-in set between the first and second films,
06:49which did pretty well.
06:50The sequel that released the following year, however, did not.
06:53The franchise then stayed out of the video game limelight for a while.
06:58Various characters appeared in games like Dead by Daylight and Fortnite,
07:01but the IP is set to try again soon with Saw Genesis.
07:05Your objective as an accused is to complete challenges,
07:09find key items, and unlock a way out before time runs out.
07:15Set for a Fall 2026 Early Access release,
07:18it's an asymmetrical multiplayer game set long before the movies.
07:21Three players must try to survive deadly traps,
07:24while one other uses whatever tools at their disposal to make sure they don't.
07:28In Saw Genesis, those choices are yours to make.
07:33Godzilla Franchise
07:43Beginning with 1984's Godzilla vs. Three Major Monsters for the MSX,
07:49Toho's iconic Kaiju has been stomping and blasting his way through video games.
07:54Because the movies have kept up a steady release schedule,
07:56every decade since then has seen a handful of releases, much to the joy of fans.
08:01Although they've obviously ranged in size and quality, that's pretty impressive.
08:05And there are more than a few strong points with a particular sweet spot in the 2000s
08:10with Destroy All Monsters and Save the Earth.
08:20It's also been great to see the franchise brought into other games like Dave the Diver,
08:25all of which show its mass appeal.
08:27As long as Godzilla keeps appearing in movies, fans will keep getting games.
08:39Terminator Franchise
08:49Sadly, the Terminator franchise has failed to recapture the magic on the big screen a few times now.
08:55But hey, we've always got the games.
08:57Naturally, a series about killer robots has given birth to a ton of video games since its debut.
09:03Terminator 2 alone got nine games, including one that came out in 2025.
09:07It's not the only one to release since Dark Fate bombed at the box office in 2019, either.
09:21Terminator Resistance, an FPS set around the future war,
09:25also released that year and was well received by players.
09:28The upcoming Terminator Survivors will have a similar setting,
09:31and task players with surviving and maintaining a base in a hostile open world.
09:42Terminator 2
09:45James Bond Franchise
09:57Britain's greatest spy has been appearing in video games since 1982's Shaken But Not Stirred.
10:03Although technically not appearing, as it's a text-based adventure game.
10:07You actually played as Bond in a bunch of games after, but things didn't really take off until GoldenEye in
10:131997.
10:14Boy, did it take off.
10:16That game was a multiplayer juggernaut and became the third best-selling game on the platform.
10:27Although nothing matched it in terms of multiplayer, Bond starred in plenty of games throughout the 2000s,
10:33some inspired by the movies and others that were completely original.
10:36The franchise took a lengthy hiatus from video games following the failure of 2012's 007 Legends.
10:42Thankfully, IO Interactive revitalized the IP with 2026's First Light.
10:47The game was incredibly successful, and there are already plans for the younger Bond's story to continue.
10:53You haven't had the punchline yet.
11:01If you love games, be sure to check out WatchMojo's new game, Terrible Influence.
11:06Just launched for purchase at TerribleInfluence.com.

11:14girls in school and us, WatchMojo.
11:16Boom.
11:17I can make an apology video.
11:19Oh, you so would.
11:20Click on the link in the description to check out the game and be the first to play Terrible Influence.
11:26Star Wars Franchise
11:30Encompassing much more than just movies for decades now, it's no surprise that Star Wars keeps getting video games.
11:37The first was released the year after the first movie premiered, an unlicensed first-person game for the Apple II
11:43where you shoot down TIE Fighters.
11:45As video games evolved, fans delighted in playing through the big-screen adventures, and as the world of Star Wars
11:51expanded, the games were allowed to tell their own unique stories.
12:03Games like Lucasfilm's The Force Unleashed and BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic provided players with engaging protagonists and fun
12:11mechanics.
12:11Although quality wavering under EA with Battlefield, Respawn's Jedi series is still going strong, and there are still more games
12:19with entirely different hooks currently in development.
12:22Simply put, there will probably always be Star Wars games.
12:34What old franchise are you glad still gets video games? And which are you shocked to see still exist?
12:41Share your thoughts in the comments, and we'll see you next time.
