00:00Beach erosion is already a big problem here in Ocean City, New Jersey.
00:05You could see three to four feet of the beach has already washed away,
00:09and the nor'easter hasn't even arrived here yet.
00:12Nearly $20 million was spent to re-nourish and improve this beach over the summer.
00:17A lot of that work is already gone.
00:19They spent $20 million, and it makes me sad, but you can't rule Mother Nature.
00:28They doubled, almost tripled the size of our beaches down here because they had worn away.
00:33I guess they have to do it, right?
00:35So if they don't do it, the alternative is going to be up in the dunes up there.
00:39But yeah, it's a lot of money to be spent to just have Mother Nature in one storm to take
00:43it away.
00:44It changes year to year.
00:45Last week we were here, there was no jetty.
00:47There was no pipe because they replenished the beach, and it was gone.
00:51So it changes, and I have even pictures from years before where there used to be dunes with grass.
00:57This is the first nor'easter of the season.
00:59There is a long fall and winter ahead, and some locals are wondering how much more of this sand is
01:04going to disappear before next summer.
