Maastricht University has provisionally suspended a student from Gaza after he posted a video appearing to show him watching footage related to the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack and saying “this is me.” The university confirmed the suspension, while reports note that it has not been established whether he actually participated in the attack.
Separately, the Netherlands has introduced a national ban on importing, purchasing and selling goods originating from Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. The measure took effect on September 22, 2026, and intentional violations can carry up to six years in prison.
