00:32one of the uglier games of the Josh Allen era offensively.
00:36Really couldn't get anything going in this game, and Josh Allen early in this game, he finishes with, I believe,
00:42two interceptions and I want to say two fumbles in this game, if that's not mistaken.
00:46It's one fumble. That's right, Dalton Kincaid also added the fumble.
00:50So five total turnovers, two interceptions, three fumbles with the Bills find a way. Crazy stat for you.
00:56There were, since 2000, let me make sure I find this stat because it's borderline incredible.
01:03That's something, okay. Since 2013, teams with five plus turnovers and a minus four turnover margin are 381-1 straight
01:15up.
01:15The three wins are the Bills over the Chargers today, the Jaguars over the Chargers in 2022, and the Broncos
01:23over the Chargers.
01:24The Chargers are the only team since 2013 to lose a turnover margin by four or to win the turnover
01:32margin by four and lose.
01:35It's remarkable. The Chargers, I think that's also maybe a good place to start.
01:38The Chargers, you know, continually are the team people talk about every season, every offseason.
01:43They're the next team to take the step.
01:45They're the Super Bowl contender, and year in and year out, they continually disappoint.
01:50And, you know, if you are a Chargers fan, you're probably thinking to yourself today, okay, 0-3, it's not
01:56the end of the world.
01:57Well, we talked about this during pregame.
01:59Their stretch, their next six games, they are going to be 0-9.
02:03They're going to be an 0-9 football team.
02:05And at that point, I just have to wonder, week seven is their bye week?
02:09Their next three games right now at 0-3 at Seattle, home against Denver, at Kansas City.
02:15And then their bye week.
02:17There might be a moment, I mean, if you're Jim Harbaugh, are you pulling the plug on Mike McDaniel at
02:23the bye week to give your quarterbacks coach,
02:25or maybe himself, an extra week to prepare for a road trip, quote unquote, it'll still be in their home
02:31stadium against the Rams,
02:33at home, against Houston, and then on the road in Baltimore.
02:37This is an 0-9 football team, folks.
02:40I mean, they had like the fourth or fifth best odds to win the Super Bowl this year.
02:44They are a freaking train wreck offensively.
02:47I mean, just a diabolical train wreck.
02:49I didn't hear the broadcast because we were obviously here doing the game cast.
02:54But apparently, Tom Brady had some pretty fiery commentary about how bad the game calling was from Mike McDaniel.
03:02And listen, you know, whether or not people think, you know, Mike McDaniel is some sort of, you know, genius
03:09offensive play caller,
03:10I think is beside the point.
03:11He's proven in the league that he can navigate and call one of the top passing offenses in the league.
03:17Justin Herbert hasn't proven anything in the league, other than the fact that he has a group of national media
03:23who seem to just fawn over the raw tools that he has.
03:28The idea that this guy is like some kind of, you know, he was the second coming of Josh Allen,
03:32and he was going to turn into one of the best quarterbacks in football with all the physical tools,
03:36it just has never come together for him.
03:38And he's had big seasons, but that team is largely not talented.
03:42And, you know, the Bills kept them in it today by turning the ball over five times in some really
03:47inopportune positions.
03:48But, man, if I'm a Chargers fan, I'm just, I'm packing it up.
03:52It's over for the Chargers.
03:54They are done.
03:55They will not be the Houston Texans, who are, again, by the way, 0-3.
04:00Two teams have started the season 0-3 and gone on to make the playoffs.
04:05It was last year's Texans team and 2013's Texans team.
04:10I don't think it's happening for the Texans either.
04:13So you look at across the AFC right now, and everyone talked about the gauntlet that would be the AFC.
04:19And, listen, I still think the AFC is going to be a pretty darn good team, and I just think
04:24that right, or a good conference.
04:25I just think right now it's going to run through Buffalo.
04:29The Baltimore Ravens are up 17-13 in Rio against the Cowboys.
04:33The Raiders are about to be 3-0, tied for the division lead with Kansas City,
04:39who scored 24 points against this Miami Dolphins team today.
04:43I think the Chiefs might be the most overhyped team in the AFC right now.
04:47They're back.
04:48I don't know.
04:49I don't buy it.
04:50They haven't really beaten anybody.
04:51And, I don't know, just to score 24 points against that Dolphins team,
04:55that should have been an absolute dog walk.
04:59And it ends up being 24-10.
05:01Maybe they just, you know, whatever.
05:02But the Titans are terrible.
05:04The Bengals, they lose to the Steelers.
05:07How are they losing to the Steelers?
05:09They look like they had right there.
05:11They were the 31st ranked, I'm sorry, they were the 32nd ranked offense right there with this Chargers team,
05:17who was, I think, 31st in EPA per play, and the Steelers were 32nd, and they let Rodgers go for
05:22292 and three scores.
05:24The new vaunted Bengals defense that everyone's supposed to be scared of gives up 30 to the Steelers.

05:34Oh, and by the way, the New England Patriots on the road.

05:45They get absolutely dog walked in Jacksonville by a team coming off of a loss.

05:53It's just, it's been a weird start to this season, and you look across the AFC and you start to

06:05Maybe it's Baltimore.
06:06If Baltimore loses this game against the Dallas Cowboys, which they absolutely could do,
06:10they'll be one in two.
06:14A lot of pretenders.
06:15A lot of pretenders in the AFC.

06:20It just, yeah, a lot to talk about with the Bills game, but I just wanted to walk around
06:24the AFC for a minute and just let everybody know.
06:27And it's so funny how every year you go into a season, you look at the schedule and say,
06:31oh my God, how are the Bills, what are the Bills supposed to do, right?
06:34They start the season in Houston.
06:36Oh man, Houston.
06:37They're Super Bowl favorites.
06:39Houston coming out of the AFC.

06:40Their quarterback turned down a $50 million contract.
06:44That quarterback, CJ Stroud, turned down $50 million.

06:52I mean, he stinks.
06:54The fact that he decided not to take that $50 million offer from the Houston Texans is
06:59baffling.

07:06And then Thursday night against, I think what a lot of people thought was going to be a
07:10really good Detroit Lions team, but they can't stay healthy.
07:14So you start the season 2-0 and you're like, okay, hey, just don't lose this one to the
07:18Chargers, right?
07:19Don't give yourself a dumb game.
07:23I never thought it was a trap game, but the Bills no-showed in the first half.
07:27They just truly no-showed.
07:29Right from the start, the first fumble of the game, they go down, they score, and then
07:34good for the defense for tightening things up.
07:35I think that was important.
07:36I know Joe Brady talked about it after the game.
07:39You heard him, I think it was with Aaron Andrews, and then in his post-game press conference
07:42as well, talk about that he was good.
07:44He thought he was excited for the opportunity to see what this team had.
07:48I would have just rather them beating them up the way they should have, but I don't
07:53know.
07:54I think there was a level of resilience in this game that I do think is promising, because
07:58you're going to need to find ways to win football games, whether it's ugly games, whether it's
08:02offense, whether it's defense.
08:03But it was good to see the defense hold up, make plays, because the Bills' offense put
08:08them in some awful positions tonight.
08:10Greg Russo now leads the league.
08:11I mean, he was leading the league coming in.
08:13And he adds two more sacks, the first player in NFL history with two or more sacks in their
08:17first three games of the season.
08:18He added four tackles for loss.
08:20And then you got James Cook again, 24 for 154 and a touchdown in this game.
08:23The one thing offensively, outside of just the struggles of consistently moving the football,
08:28that was one of the more poor performances I can remember from a Buffalo Bills offensive
08:32line.
08:33This specific unit on the offensive line just really struggled up front at times against,
08:37I think, an okay Chargers defensive line.
08:39I mean, there's nothing crazy, but all in all, it just was a struggle up front in the
08:44offensive line.
08:45Four sacks given up against Josh Allen today.
08:48And then on the other side of the football, a couple of notes.
08:51Christian Benford leaves this game with a toe injury.
08:53He was seen in a boot after the game.
08:54So that's going to be something to monitor throughout the week.
08:56Again, though, another tough game, I think, for Christian Benford.
08:59A couple of good plays.
09:00And then IGB comes in.
09:01He makes a fantastic pass breakup down the sidelines on a Quinton Johnston, I think, third and
09:0610 play, and just a huge, huge pass breakup.
09:10So it was good to see IGB step in and step up when Christian Benford went out with injury.
09:16So we'll see.
09:17Do the Bills try to make a move and sign a veteran corner?
09:20They're now going to have to Corey Couch, who is a practice squad elevation.
09:23It's all going to be dependent on the severity of Benford's injury.
09:27But at corner, having a banged-up toe is basically non-tenable.
09:33Like, I don't think you can expect a cornerback going up against No. 1 receivers to go out
09:37there and not be 100% on his lower body.
09:40I just, like, I think he's probably going to miss a few weeks.
09:43That's a prediction.
09:44It's not fact.
09:44We'll see more as the injury report comes out this week and sort of where he lands on it.
09:50But, you know, I think the Bills were teetering on concern.
09:55And I think we're in a full-blown, I don't want to say, I'm not panicking about their
09:59cornerback depth, but the guy they drafted in the second round is now going to be starting
10:03into Corey Couch and, you know, maybe it's Kamani Walker.
10:07But, I mean, two pretty untested players on the defensive side of the ball that are going
10:12to have to play big roles if Christian Benford's out for any length of time.

10:44They had the short week, didn't fix it, looked rough again.

10:48And the other one is maybe Benford going down is actually a positive for the Bills.
10:53He's not a man corner.
10:55He struggled, and the other two guys came in there, and both of them look good.
10:59So, maybe it's a blessing in disguise.
11:01Maybe, you know, we trade him to whatever team McDermott coaches next year and get some
11:05return on that if he can't come in here and fit in this defense.
11:10But, Josh Allen, you know, tough game.
11:12But, he does Josh Allen things, scores the points.

11:22I don't disagree with you that he's probably a zone corner in the NFL.
11:25But, this is a team that wants to run more man.
11:27I think it's why you draft an IGB.
11:29He's not a guy maybe you were expecting right away to lean on.
11:31But, you draft the profile of a player that can play aggressive at the line of scrimmage,
11:36be physical.
11:37You know, and I think IGB has shown that early in his career.
11:40Now, his first play as an NFL player in the regular season game, he gets called for a
11:44pass interference.
11:44So, that's going to have to tidy up.
11:45But, all in all, really, since that first play that he gets called in Houston, it's
11:50been a pretty nice, it's been a pretty clean stat sheet for IGB.
11:54So, we'll continue to see that progress if Benford misses any time.

12:12You know, even when we lose, you guys got to, like, take all these, like, horrible
12:16calls and these people yelling at you like it's your fault.
12:18And, you know, when things go bad.
12:21I did have two points, which I'll say quickly.
12:23But, what you just said, I want to run off that.
12:26Number one, can we just say that there's only 16 players in, what, 100 years in the
12:33NFL history that have more rushing touchdowns than Josh Allen?
12:36Can we just, and Josh Allen's a quarterback in his prime.
12:40And, he'll probably be in his prime, you know, by the end of next season, he'll probably
12:45start declining a little bit.
12:47But, there's only 16 players in the history of the NFL that have more rushing touchdowns
12:52than our quarterback.
12:54I find that absolutely, like, amazing.
12:57And, I don't care if, recently, most of these are tush-pushes.
13:01I don't see any other team's quarterbacks doing that because they can't.
13:05Your quarterback is not 6'5", 250 pounds, and is the biggest player on the field.

13:10My second point I wanted to get to is, these jerseys, I honestly hated.
13:16Once I saw them on the TV, like, they were okay.
13:20But, like...
13:21They were terrible, Joey.

13:27But, if they put white face masks on those helmets, I think it would pop a little different.

13:59Like, we had five turnovers in the game, and it was early in the game, and I was actually

14:04I work at a restaurant, and I was prepping food.
14:06I couldn't even see the game.
14:07And I kept running out to the TV at the bar trying to see what was going on, and I'm

14:13Josh threw two picks.
14:14We got a fumble here.
14:15It's the first quarter.
14:17Everybody's like, oh, my God, we're going to lose.
14:19I'm like, we got Josh Allen.
14:20And, like, it's honestly just so soothing to know that this quarterback, with five turnovers,
14:31any team should be able to beat another NFL team when the other NFL team has five turnovers.
14:38And, you know, shout out to James Cook.
14:40Like, whenever Josh was in trouble, whenever the offense wasn't moving, James Cook is the
14:45most shiftiest running back I've ever seen.
14:48I've been trying to compare him to another running back, and I really can't.
14:52But I would say he's a mix between, like, Priest Holmes, Sean Alexander, and Jamar Charles.
14:58Like, all in a mix.
15:02And without James Cook, I don't think we win this game.
15:06Oh, no question.
15:07And I want to make it.

15:12I got to say, we've been waiting a long time for Greg Russo to pop off in this defense.
15:18And go figure.
15:19The first year after McDermott is out, Greg Russo has six sacks in three games.
15:25He has multiple forced fumbles.
15:28And he is literally the best defensive player in the NFL through his three weeks.
15:34And I know we're giving up points in the defense, and people are doubting Jim Leonard's defense.
15:40But if you've noticed, in the first half of all three games, it kind of seems like we're just waiting
15:46to see what this offense is going to do after that first series.
15:49Because, Nate, you were a previous quarterback.
15:51You know, that first series, possibly the second series on offense is scripted.
15:56Most of the plays.
15:57You know, and I just feel like our defense shields out the team, you know, through these first couple series.
16:04And then as soon as halftime comes, like, things just start happening.
16:09Plays just start happening.
16:11And the caller before me, he said something about IGB, I think this guy is going to be a superstar
16:19on defense.
16:19He is physical.
16:20He's going to have a lot of stupid penalties.
16:22But we need that physicality.
16:24We need that corner that's pressing at the line, pushing these receivers off the line.
16:29And I don't see any other player in our secondary who does that, you know, minus Benford.
16:37And, you know, I don't know.
16:39Just 3-0 after three weeks with a new regime, a new offensive coach, you know, a new head coach,
16:46a new defensive system.

17:15And they do run the football a lot.
17:17I mean, this is not a team that is shifting away from its roots, which is being able to run
17:21the ball with incredible efficiency.
17:23And, I mean, again, I know Mike talked about this in the postgame.
17:26It's like it did not feel like there was 154 yards on the ground by James Cook today.
17:30But that was sort of the day.
17:31A lot of success on the ground today.
17:33There's a lot that they're going to have to clean up.
17:35Obviously, the turnovers are the easy one to point out.
17:38But there's some stuff on the offensive line, some missed blocks today, some stunts that they really had a tough
17:43time sort of dialing in.
17:45But, all in all, I mean, you just got to feel really good about the Bills and how they were
17:49able to get this victory done today.

19:00So, how many times has anybody come back from five turnovers on offense to win a game?
19:09Since 2013, it's only happened two other times, and both times it was against the Chargers, which I find also
19:14hilarious.

19:16But, like, last year in the playoffs, I hope that would have happened, but it didn't, obviously.
19:22But today it did, and it's just, like, we are so blessed to have this guy working for us.

21:39This could be the year.

22:25But I think inevitably, throughout the rest of this season, it's just going to be moments where it's like, okay,
22:30hey, in years past, McDermott would do this and Joe Brady did that.
22:34I think it's just inevitable on kind of what it's going to look like and what it's going to sound
22:37like after these games.
22:38But, listen, the Bills found a way, and that's all that matters.

23:34It was a big moment for Keon Coleman on the catch down by the goal line.
23:37He ultimately doesn't get in.
23:39But another strong outing from Keon Coleman, even though he only showed up with one catch on the scorecard.
23:45And then Greg Rousseau, he adds two sacks in this game, six through three games, the most in NFL history,
23:51and then four tackles for loss in this game as well.
23:55So those are your stats of the game.
