00:20So, as a captain, I've always kind of wanted to know,
00:24like, what do you say to the younger guys on a team after a game like that?
00:28After a loss that obviously didn't go the way that you wanted it to,
00:32like, how do you approach things as a captain with the younger players?
00:35Yeah, the first thing I would definitely say is, like,
00:37getting back to the basics, man.
00:39Like, it's football.
00:39You know, there's going to be wins.
00:40There's going to be losses.
00:41Of course, we're going to have more wins than losses.
00:43However, you know, I love the game so much.
00:45You know, we've got to understand it to appreciate the situation of, you know,
00:48how we respond after losses.
00:50You know, the lessons that we learned that works really good for us
00:53and then things that we can't have happen.
00:54So, getting back into the film room, studying the things that, you know,
00:58gave us problems and kind of go from there.
01:01You know, Marcus, we see the video on the Patriots' social media channels
01:04of what happens in the locker rooms after a win.
01:07But what happens in the locker room after a loss?
01:09Does anybody get up and speak?
01:12Oh, yeah.
01:12I mean, we have different guys come up and speak and everything like that.
01:16Braves talk to us as well and everything.
01:18And then our main thing is, you know, understanding that, you know,
01:20in order to get this bad taste out of our mouth and everything like that with the L,
01:24is to get back to the film room, you know, correct the things.
01:26You know, we need to get better as a team in general.
01:30We talk about, you know, the coaches coaching better
01:31and then also the players, you know, wanting to be coached
01:34and getting back to the details that we need to get corrected.
01:37Marcus, there was a report that a bunch of players were going up to Drake May's locker
01:41after the game and kind of giving him words of encouragement.
01:44Were you one of those players?
01:46And if not, did you witness that yourself?
01:50Oh, I don't know.
01:51I didn't see that situation.
01:53But I will say, like, any time, you know, whether it's a good game or a bad game,
01:57we're always communicating with Drake and understanding the situation of, you know,
02:01it's football.
02:02Like I said, like, we all got his back when it comes down to it.
02:05And it's a long season ahead of us as well.
02:07So, you know, we've been in this situation before and everything like that.
02:10So we're understanding and staying positive for sure.
02:13Hey, Marcus, when you guys watched the tape back, that Parker Washington touchdown,
02:17you guys had, like, a collision there at the five, it seemed like.
02:20And it looked to me like he pushed off on you.
02:23When you look back at it, did you feel like that was – that should have been offensive
02:26P.I., or what did you think?
02:29My main thing was that, you know, I was just kind of, you know, being in my space and everything
02:33like that.
02:34I mean, the ref call, he called and then kind of go from there.
02:36I mean, it was a bang-bang play.
02:37So, at the end of the day, you know, we got to end up going with the play to the
02:41ref call.
02:42How did you see the ebb and flow of the game in terms of blitzing and staying back in coverage?
02:47Did you feel like Lawrence was effectively handling the blitzes?
02:52I feel like, you know, they had certain schemes and everything like that for some of our blitzes
02:56as well.
02:57Like I said, like, he's a great quarterback when it comes down to, you know, putting the
03:00ball in certain places and everything like that too as well.
03:02I felt like the first half, you know, we were kind of giving them different looks and everything
03:07like that.
03:08And then also, like, we just got to take advantage of certain plays and stuff.
03:10Like, I got my hand on the ball for a second time and that was something that I definitely
03:13should have caught.
03:14So, you know, just taking advantage of the opportunities that we did is the most important
03:19thing.
03:19What was Coach Vrabel mad at us about this morning?
03:23Say it one more time for me.
03:24What was Coach Vrabel, like, the most upset about this morning?
03:28First off, the loss.
03:30I mean, that's the main thing.
03:32You know, we understand the standard that we have and, you know, the identity that we want
03:37to display every single time that people cut on the film and that's not our identity
03:41at all.
03:41You know, we have certain things that's going on to where, you know, we'll have certain
03:46times that our identity will show, but it's the consistency of every single play.
03:50No matter how many plays we're at, where we're playing at and everything, we want to always
03:54display our identity at the end of the day.
03:57And, you know, having it, you know, let's just say a couple plays out of the game or,
04:02you know, one half and everything, you know, we got 60 minutes to play.
04:05So we got to take advantage of those 60 minutes.
04:07You know, Marcus, you know, after a game like that, obviously everybody who is not playing
04:11the game itself, people like us who are watching the game, everyone's got theories as to why
04:16things went wrong one way or the other.
04:18Like, what do fans watching from the outside misunderstand about what's actually going on
04:22inside the locker room right now?
04:26Oh, I mean, I can't really speak for them, but I will say, like, as being a player that's
04:33in the locker room and everything, you know, it's a long season, like I said.
04:37You know, there's ups and downs when it comes down to it.
04:39The main thing I will say is, like, us as a team, you know, there's no doubt in, you
04:44know, all the accomplishments that we want to still be able to achieve, they're still in
04:48reach when it comes down to it.
04:50And then, man, it's one day at a time, it's one week at a time, you know, when things
04:54get going and everything like that, like, things can change pretty quickly when it comes down
04:58to it.
04:58But we understand that we just got to take our time.
05:01So we're not walking around with our head down or anything like that.
05:04We got our head and our chin up high, and we're going to get back to Prattison and, you
05:08know, getting better every single week.
05:10And Marcus, going through it last year, same thing at the start of the year, right?
05:13One and two, and then you guys bounce back to go to the Super Bowl.
05:15Does that give you confidence?
05:16Can you draw off that experience?
05:19Yeah, I would say when it comes down to that, like you said, we've been there before when
05:23it comes to that part.
05:24So we understand what we need to do.
05:26It's not living in the past or anything like that.
05:28But, you know, we can think about those situations of, like, we've been here before and we understand
05:35the steps that we have to take in order to get back to where, you know, how we want to
05:39be as a team and everything.
05:42All right.
05:42Marcus Jones, I have to be honest, we're going to have Drake May on in a few moments.
05:46And I know that, obviously, he's on the other side of a very bad loss.
05:50Is there anything you know about him that I could say to him to cheer him up?
05:52Because it's going to be a really strange interview unless I can kind of give a put a
05:57little levity into it.
06:00Man, I don't know exactly what you can say, but I would say, man, you know, just speaking
06:05for myself and, you know, the trust that we have with him is that he's a great player when
06:09it comes down to it.
06:10And, you know, we don't look at it as a situation of him having a bad game.
06:14Like, we lost the game and there's things that we could have done as a team to, you
06:18know, put him in better positions as well and everything like that.
06:20So, it's a loss and we all take it as a loss and everything, but no, he's a great player.
06:25And like I said, man, like we got all the trust in him and everything and we all get
06:29back to the basics and we all get to practice and to get better.
