00:00Injury-wise, where are your safeties?
00:03Yeah, we'll take them all day-to-day, see where they're at.
00:05What do they have to practice today?
00:07Cook and Duggar will not practice today.
00:12What do you like stepping up if those guys, if Cook can't go?
00:16Well, we'll see.
00:17We'll just take it day-to-day with those guys,
00:18but PJ's been right there practicing the whole time,
00:21so I feel good about our depth,
00:22but we'll see where those guys are at tomorrow.
00:24Those two guys, as a veteran treatment,
00:26you should try to get them to Sunday if you can.
00:28Yeah, I mean, that's part of it,
00:29is how much work do they need today,
00:31so just trying to give them the rest.
00:34How do you kind of approach as a staff,
00:36the uncertainties and I guess a lot of moving pieces in the secondary?
00:39Yeah, but again, it's Wednesday early in the week,
00:41so those guys are doing the walkthrough and all that stuff,
00:44so I feel good about all that.
00:46When you guys were building the defense
00:49and building the secondary and the offseason,
00:52did you have maybe a scenario like this in mind?
00:55I mean, you always have to be prepared,
00:56but you have a lot of guys in the secondary
00:58and you can fill multiple roles.
01:00How does that help you get these?
01:01Well, I think that's what makes guys valuable,
01:03you know, as you're looking for them,
01:04when they can cover you at two spots
01:06or have starting experience inside-out flex as a corner.
01:11That's always ideal, that you can find as many guys,
01:14especially better depth pieces,
01:16that can cover you in a lot of different ways.
01:18Looking ahead, how close is Jasir Taylor?
01:21Close.
01:21You know, we'll get through this week, the window,
01:23and then evaluate it next week to see how close he is returning.
01:25How do you feel like this camp wasn't before you ever?
01:28Good.
01:29What do you see from Ive?
01:31He hasn't played many snaps lately,
01:33but I know you guys have hired you guys.
01:34Yeah.
01:35His reliability.
01:36Yeah, I think he's gotten better every single year,
01:39so I've had a lot of confidence in him in training camp.
01:41He's getting opportunities in these games,
01:42and so I do have a lot of confidence in D.J.
01:45Ive.
01:45What do you think he brings to the table as far as an athlete?
01:48Experience.
01:48I mean, he's just learned from all the reps that he's gotten,
01:50you know, longer guys,
01:51so he's been able to cover some guys in some specialty roles filled in outside
01:56when we needed him,
01:57so certainly have a lot of confidence in him.
01:59When you look at who would you want to step in at outside corner,
02:03what kind of traits for your person do you really need for a guy you can rely on?
02:07Be able to cover.
02:08I mean, that's number one, be able to cover your guy.
02:10How nice is it?
02:11How valuable was training camp for D.J. to go against T like he was?
02:15Oh, yeah.
02:16I mean, for all those guys, not just D.J.,
02:18but to go against Jamar, T.E.,
02:21you get different types of receivers that they've got to face,
02:23so I think just over the years that's really helped both sides of it.
02:27You know, we've got different corners of skill sets
02:30that have really helped our receivers,
02:31and so I think that challenge has been really good.
02:33But Tinsley, is it able to be almost like he never left?
02:36Yes.
02:37I mean, really.
02:37I mean, he's missed three weeks of work,
02:41and so there's a lot of things that I'm sure are still fresh for him.
02:44He did the walkthrough today, nothing to my eye, caught me off guard.
02:49Smart guy, so we'll get him up to speed very quickly,
02:51and he'll be able to help us.
02:51Well, it's not ideal to lose two outside receivers and injuries.
02:54How nice is it just to be able to pick up someone who you know very well?
02:56Yeah, it is, and we pride ourselves on being problem solvers,
03:01and Colby was a huge part of that plan, and first play the game,
03:04you know, a lot of it had to be changed up.
03:05And so it's a challenge that's not unique to us,
03:09but we have guys that we really believe in.
03:11And that's the good news is we're not just playing with guys
03:14that we don't think we can find a role for.
03:16They're there because they have to be everybody in that receiver room,
03:19tight end room.
03:21We feel like has earned the opportunity.
03:22We've got a lot of confidence in what they can do for us.
03:24Is Colby an IR candidate, or do you think Colby?
03:28We'll just get through the week and see where we're at.
03:30Given where the IR receivers,
03:31was it important to get Tanner up on the roster?
03:35Yeah, it is.
03:36I mean, Tanner's an important part of that.
03:37We've got a lot of faith in him,
03:38and he's made obviously a lot of plays for us
03:40over the 18 years he's been here.
03:43So, you know, he's just always ready for his opportunity.
03:47You know, that's what you appreciate about Tanner.
03:50He's been up.
03:51He's been down.
03:52He's been a part of it.
03:53He hasn't.
03:54He stays the same guy every day in practice,
03:56same guy in the locker room,
03:57knows that his opportunity will come,
03:58and he's going to capitalize on it when it does.
04:02Jacksonville's got a really good front game.
04:03What makes that so total for them?
04:05I think they've got a really good offense.
04:06They've got a really good team, you know.
04:07So, well coached, well coordinated, a lot of talent.
04:12And, you know, you see those guys play as a whole,
04:14and they can really challenge you.
04:15And so I've got a lot of respect for what they do.
04:17And, you know, I think our guys are excited for the opportunity
04:20when they come into our place.
04:21But they've had a great year.
04:22They had a great year last year.
04:24And I'm sure they have a lot of confidence right now.
04:26It seemed like something clicked for them midway through last season
04:29when they started really getting out.
04:30How much carryover from that momentum do you feel like you've seen
04:33through their first three games, I guess defensively specifically?
04:36Yeah, their defense is relatively unchanged.
04:38You know, it's the same guys up front, you know,
04:42really starts up front with them.
04:43They've got really four really good starters that can cause you problems.
04:48Those guys play with a lot of confidence behind them too.
04:50Their backers are really impactful.
04:52So they've got a lot of talent.
04:54They're well-coordinated.
04:55Same group coming back from last year.
04:56So they've got experience under the belt.
04:57And it can be a really challenging group.
05:00You had very specific instructions for the fans for the home opener.
05:04Be very loud.
05:05You know, I think you can see that even on the road last week, you know,
05:11when good quarterbacks are using every second of the play clock,
05:14that extra layer of communication.
05:15Our fans were awesome week one when we had Tampa here.
05:18So we need more of the same.
05:19You know, that's really what the home field advantage is,
05:23is making them have to communicate quickly, make them have to do it loudly,
05:26make them have to repeat.
05:27And I thought week one we got exactly what we needed out of our fans that,
05:31you know, caused them some issues that they had to account for.
05:35What's it like when you're evaluating Keyshawn from Sunday
05:38and then ultimately make the decision you guys made?
05:41Well, you know, just trying to get the 53 guys that can help us this Saturday.
05:45So obviously we'll get to whatever number we get to that are active on game day.
05:49But I felt the need to get Mitch back in here.
05:50I felt the need to get Tanner up.
05:52And so those were just made off of that.
05:54How does that affect Dante's role forward?
05:56We'll see as the week goes, how that affects it.
05:59How much confidence do you have in Jordan Battle
06:01and his ability to be the main communicator?
06:04If worst case scenario, Ryan and Kyle can't go on Sunday.
06:08He's a primary communicator now, you know.
06:10So he's had that role for us for several years.
06:13So I have a ton of confidence in JB.
06:16And, you know, JB, that was a tough game for him physically as well, you know.
06:20And so we'll work him through the week.
06:22But I think my hat's off to him for fighting through the way he did
06:26and trying to help us win.
06:27And that's the Jordan Battle I know.
