00:02The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce administers the Walk of Fame on behalf of
00:06the City of Los Angeles and on behalf of our Councilman Hugo Sotomartinez I like
00:11to present you with this resolution. Let's give him a round of applause.
00:30It gives me a distinct honor to welcome to the stage to give a few remarks to our honoree Bradley
00:35Woodford.
00:36Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Oh my god. This is surreal. First of all I just want to say
00:49this is truly
00:51a great day because today is Amy Landecker's birthday.
01:02And what better way for an actor to celebrate his wife's birthday than with a municipal celebration
01:09of himself. Happy birthday my love. I think you know that, I'm going to cry, none of this matters
01:18without you. And I want to thank you in advance for your ongoing efforts to support me in public.
01:28That's all I ask. No one has ever lain on their deathbed and with their final breath
01:39uttered the words, I wish I had done one more episode of television. That has never come up.
01:49So I want to thank the characters Amy and I love the most. Our wonderful children for being their
01:59incredible insistent selves. We're sorry that your parents are professional extroverts. We apologize.
02:09We know that can't be fun. And we're grateful for your patience. Dulé and Martin Sheen, it means so much
02:18for me to have you here today. Dulé, I have never seen anyone less changed by success in show business
02:27than you are. You are the same definition of humility and kindness and grace that I met 27 years ago
02:35doing that Oval Office scene, saying it never goes away.
02:42In those 27 years, I have never heard you say a bad word about another human being,
02:49which is starting to feel like a hostile reminder of how old and bitter I have become.
02:58And speaking of old and bitter, Martin Sheen, I love you with all of my heart. We never had to
03:11act
03:11our love and loyalty to Jed Bartlett, because it was always just there on the set for you. Your
03:18kindness at the top of the call sheet, the joy you brought to the hard work of making a television
03:25show is what made us a family with a mission. My dad passed away right after we shot the pilot.
03:39He actually saw a rough cut of the pilot, and I said, what'd you think? He said, I didn't understand
03:44what's going to work. But when my dad passed away, I felt like I still had a father with you
03:56around. And the
03:58greatest lessons we learn from our parents and our mentors are the examples of their lives. And yours is
04:06one of joy, of humility, of resilience, and the clear understanding that the greatest privilege
04:13fame can give you is the opportunity to bring attention to the suffering of others and to join in
04:19the fight against it. I love you. I'm thinking in gratitude today of our brother, John Spencer,
04:29Mary McCormick, everybody in front and behind the camera, with the possible exception of Josh Molina.
04:50We have a lot of cops here. We should probably get them out.
04:54No, he needs the publicity. Thank you, Dana and Ron, everyone here at the Hollywood Chamber
05:05of Commerce and the Walk of Fame selection committee. I'm not sure how this happens,
05:11but I am incredibly grateful. Thank you, everyone at Netflix, Bella Beceria, Ginny Howe,
05:17Ted Sarandos for footing the bill for this event. But not only that, for making me feel like I have
05:26a
05:26creative home in this crazy business. Leslie Siebert, Rhonda Price, everyone at Gersh. I feel very at home
05:36there, finally. I want to thank Michael Mahan for representing me with civility and integrity.
05:45Melissa Cates, everyone at Viewpoint. No one believes me when I tell them that the sanest person
05:53I ever met in Hollywood is a publicist, but it's true. It's you.
05:59None of this would be happening without the fierce, unrelenting advocacy of my manager of almost 30 years,
06:08Adina Chalk. Thank you, Adina, for always believing in me and for refusing to take no for an answer from
06:25those who didn't.
06:26Every actor should have an advocate like you. I am the actor. I'll get all the attention today,
06:33but we both know the star is yours as much as mine. On the home front, I want to thank
06:44Gabby Silva for holding down the fort,
06:48managing the petting zoo, the spectacular desserts, and more than anything for teaching my children how to swear.
07:02Thank you, Meg Graham, for your unwavering kindness, the care you take in making this chaotic life feel manageable.
07:11Um, I have to thank Aaron Sorkin for giving me a career over and over and over again.
07:20I have to thank John Wells for being the best television producer on the planet.
07:26Um, a shout out to Jordan Peele for giving me an incredible shot.
07:31Uh, thank you, Deborah Kahn, for letting me swim around in that beautiful brain of yours.
07:38I want to thank all of you for your brilliance and your friendship all these years.
07:42I come from a wonderfully supportive family, um, that has nothing to do with show business,
07:50but I'm so grateful, uh, to my big brothers and big sisters for their love, uh, and support over the
07:59years.
07:59Oh, my God, my parents would have gotten such a kick out of this, uh, and they would have
08:08loved to have known that their son was going to be tucked between Lucille Ball and, uh, my sister,
08:15Alice and Janney. Mom and Dad, you're with me every day. Um, thank you, uh, for making me know
08:25that I didn't need to get lucky in show business to feel loved.
08:30The best thing about a life spent telling stories, uh, is the people you get to tell them with.
08:38I want to thank every writer, director, producer, every cast and crew member I've ever had the
08:44privilege to work with. And here's to a future where real human beings continue to get up a little
08:51too early in the morning and work long, hard days to make stories together. Stories to make us laugh,
08:59make us cry, make us think. And most importantly, at this moment, in this disorienting digital age,
09:06to remind us all of what it means to be a human being.
09:16Thank you for this, uh, frighteningly permanent reminder of what an honor and a joy it has been for
09:26me to be a part of that effort. So thank you to all the fans over all the years who
09:34have taken precious
09:35time out of their lives to watch me play with my friends. And a special thank you to all of
09:43you
09:43who are here today, who made the effort to come out here on this beautiful day to celebrate my wife's
09:50birthday. Of course, I am deeply honored. Thank you.
