00:00I've just had a call that there's a death adder's turned up in a toolbox somewhere near here.
00:04So we're going to get the address, head out right now and catch the snake.
00:08Now we've just declared it's an early snake season and this checks out.
00:11They're on the move.
00:12I'm going to wrangle this bloke.
00:13This is one of the world's deadliest snakes.
00:15Let's go.
00:17Hey, well, I'm Brandon.
00:18Good to see you.
00:19How's it going?
00:20You got your death adder somewhere?
00:21Yeah.
00:23This little death adder was in the middle of a construction site in a toolbox.
00:27So he must have been on the move last night before finding his way into there
00:32and he saw it as a safe little shelter to hang out.
00:36Well, let's have a look.
00:38I'll tell you what he's...
00:39Oh, look at that.
00:41That is a death adder.
00:42Yeah, so there you go.
00:43So it looks like a male death adder,
00:45which makes sense because we're in just literally hit snake season
00:50and it's just been so warm.
00:52You felt that change.
00:53They've all just started moving.
00:54So he would have been cruising all night
00:56and then he's just started to bunker down.
00:58But we'll have a look at him.
00:59So little males got a long tail.
01:01He's actually out at the start of the breeding season looking for a female.
01:05He doesn't look injured.
01:06He looks great.
01:07He's in perfect nick.
01:08You can see.
01:10So that's the fastest striking snake in the world.
01:14They go 350 k's an hour in one quick flick.
01:18He's very fast.
01:20But, yeah, no, he looks really healthy.
01:23I've been moving stuff here since 1990, right?
01:26And I've never seen one.
01:27No.
01:28And I don't miss too much.
01:29Yeah.
01:29Well, these are...
01:30They're pretty uncommon to find as far as our snakes around here go.
01:34Like, they are a common species, but they just blend in so well.
01:38They're very docile animals.
01:40Like, he's not feeling stressed at all at the moment.
01:42Like, he's pretty relaxed.
01:44And as you said, he's a little bit tired.
01:46He's been out cruising all night, so he's not too worried.
01:50Okay, well, it's time to put him away.
01:53We'll just lift him up.
01:54I've bought a little snake bag for him.
01:57And we're just going to cruise him back to work.
01:59So what he's going to do now, he's going to go into our quarantine facility for our venomous snakes.
02:04It's a good ending to his story.
02:06And, yeah, we're very grateful to receive any calls about these snakes.
02:12But just a reminder, be vigilant that the snakes are on the move right now.
02:17They're cruising through backyards.
02:19They're not to be worried about, but definitely not to be mucked with.
02:22Just leave it to the professionals.
02:24Okay, we'll get him back.
02:28We are the sole supplier of raw terrestrial snake venom for antivenom here in Australia.
