00:00A British newspaper revealed that the US government has been financing a campaign to delegitimize Brazil's electoral court system.
00:09Our correspondent, Brian Mir, has the story.
00:12On October 1st, the British newspaper The Guardian published an exclusive showing that the US government has rerouted $175 million
00:20in funding initially earmarked for international human rights issues to far-right organizations around the world.
00:27Among the list of groups financed is a Brazilian NGO which was allocated $1 million
00:32to help Flavio Bolsonaro take power by delegitimizing the electoral court system.
00:39This second Trump administration has already announced that the Western Hemisphere will be its top geopolitical priority.
00:47Therefore, helping Flavio Bolsonaro win this presidential election is a component of Donald Trump's larger plan,
00:53which is for Brazil to cease to be an autonomous, sovereign, and independent nation,
00:57and begins to effectively act as a neo-colony of the United States.
01:03The Guardian's revelation comes just three days before Brazil's first-round presidential election,
01:09in an atmosphere in which its national intelligence agency, ABIN, has already announced that US meddling in the electoral process
01:16has reached a critical level.
01:18And investigative journalists have uncovered illegal support for Flavio Bolsonaro from a right-wing extremist dark money organization
01:26from the US called the Rockbridge Network.
01:28For many, it brings back memories of 2023.
01:35We've already been through a similar situation in 2022 when Flavio Bolsonaro's father spent most of the election year threatening
01:42that he wasn't going to recognize the election results.
01:46Civil society mobilized, with support from the social movements.
01:52It guaranteed Lula's electoral victory and halted the coup attempt that took place in January 2023.
02:00As Brazil's election day rapidly approaches,
02:03many wonder if the Trump administration will even recognize the results if Lula wins the election.
