00:05game OD, and only former Xbox CEO Phil Spencer understood what he was trying to do.
00:12Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Kojima explains that he had trouble getting OD picked up by any
00:17publisher. I pitched to many people, to the big companies, and also to the up and coming companies.
00:22All of them said the same thing. Kojima continues, they said that I'm crazy and that they really
00:28don't understand the concept, that they will not be able to do it. First unveiled during the Game
00:33Awards 2023, following leaks the prior year as Overdose, OD claims it'll be a horror experience
00:40no one has ever seen before, and is being made in collaboration with the likes of horror director
00:45Jordan Peele, and a larger group of collaborators Kojima calls his Avengers. OD's concept is for
00:51the player to overdose on horror, with Kojima hyping it up as a game that goes beyond the limit of
00:57scariness. The idea ultimately appealed to Phil Spencer, who understood the concept and took it
01:02on board. OD currently doesn't have a release date, and outside of a leak and a couple of quick
01:07trailers, we really don't know too much about what it has to offer. But with its development impacted
01:12by the 2024 SAG-AFTRA strikes, it'll probably be the Game Awards this year at the earliest before
01:18we see another glimpse.
