00:00We got to see last night, both Chris Sale and Wheeler pitch in the game, but only one
00:08team is advancing to lose to the Dodgers, and that is the Braves at this point, where
00:13you called it.
00:15I got to give you credit.
00:16We said Aaron Nolan, you're like, did you watch his last outing?
00:21Because it continued in the first inning of that game last night, ultimately proving to
00:27be just too much for the Phillies to be able to come back.
00:31You know, that was actually not the thing that I was the most impressed with, because
00:37after we did the show yesterday, they didn't post my clip on social media, but randomly
00:44someone was watching that I knew, and I said, can I say the name on the air?
00:48They're like, no.
00:49But randomly, somebody that was watching, they're like, what are you talking about with
00:53Ray Kerr?
00:54Come on.
00:55Like, are you kidding me?
00:57I'm like, I am telling you this kid is going to do a good job.
01:00I don't know.
01:01Something tells me that Ray Kerr has a chance to be one of the stories of the postseason.
01:08And that was the story for me, Joe.
01:10I mean, what this kid went through and had to pitch.
01:12And to think, Joe, that the Braves, I mean, think about this.
01:15Going into the last week of the season, experimented in Miami with Kerr and Holmes in a game that meant
01:23nothing for either team and ended up using it in the wild card.
01:27No one's even talking about that.
01:29No one's even writing that.
01:30That's what happened last weekend.
01:32So I give a ton of credit to the Braves to have the stones to be able to do that,
01:36Joe,
01:36because that could have went sideways.
01:37And then, well, Weiss could have been in trouble, you know, like Don Mattingly is today.
01:43And so I think the bigger question from that, there's two, obviously.
01:46The one with the Phillies we'll get to.
01:48I like to start with the winners and then go to the losers after.
01:50So the big question for the Braves, Joe, is how can they do this in Atlanta with this pitching staff?
01:56I don't know, you know, against the Dodgers.
01:59It seems really formidable to me.
02:02I hope Atlanta wins.
02:04I'll be pulling for Atlanta.
02:05But truthfully, I think the series price tells the story here.
02:09It does feel like the Dodgers are a massive favorite to at least advance this round.
02:15And in terms of Philly, as you mentioned, Joe, Nola as an opener or as a guy on short rest,
02:22it hasn't worked out twice.
02:23They went to it twice.
02:24And it felt like, Joe, I don't know about you, but as soon as I saw 3-0, I'm like,
02:29okay.
02:30Like, at some point, we're going to see Sale.
02:33We're going to see all these guys.
02:34And they did.
02:36And, you know, I see all the comments that the Phillies have to break it up
02:39and bust it up today, and they have to start over again.
02:43That's the natural reaction when something like this happens.
02:47But in the end, Joe, what are we talking about?
02:49What are they breaking up?
02:51Where are you sending Bryce Harper?
02:52Where are you sending Trey Turner?
02:54These guys are making $200 million a season.
02:57It's not like teams are lining up going, oh, yeah, we'll take your guys.
02:59No problem.
03:00I mean, Bryce Harper is popular, Joe, as he is.
03:02He's on the back nine now of his career.
03:04He's not on the front nine anymore.
03:05He's not a great defender anymore.
03:08So the Phillies are going to have to just eat it.
03:10I honestly don't know what they do.
03:12The good news for them is they do have some pitching, maybe even more than Atlanta does.
03:16But they've tried this, been there, done that, and it has not worked.
03:20And so my guess is some form of running it back, honestly.
03:24I mean, they can say whatever they want.
03:26But you tell me, Joe, how do you move $200 million contracts in this day and age of baseball?
03:30You can't.
03:33And you can't because you don't know what the rules of the game are at this point.
03:39So whatever we think we know now, come December 2nd, that's all thrown out the window.
03:45There's a lot we don't know about what is going to happen here.
03:49But I almost wish if you were going to go with Wheeler, I almost wish that they would have went
03:54with Wheeler early and then brought in Nola.
03:58You know, I almost, because, you know, it looked like that was part of the plan anyway on his bullpen
04:03day.
04:04I would have much rather seen what he could give you early.
04:07And Liver, like you said, it's no shock that Nola on short rest.
04:12Now, how many more times do we have to watch that?
04:14It wasn't great from that standpoint.
04:17So, but kudos to Harris.
04:19Came through in a big, big way there in the first inning.
04:22He did not do that in the extra inning loss.
04:25But he did that last night.
04:27And that was kind of all she wrote from that point.
04:31Dern pitched in that game.
04:33And we weren't sure if he was not healthy.
04:36I mean, he almost threw one into section 203, one pitch.
04:40And I'm going, maybe he's not healthy, Greg.
04:43I'm going, maybe there was something to that.
04:46That was kind of crazy.
04:48Yeah, it's possible that all this stuff comes out after with Philadelphia.
04:52We'll know over the next week, you know, they take a couple days off and then the GM speaks.
04:58But look, Joe, I mean, what's the reality of the series in the end?
05:01The reality is the Phillies got a miracle home run to come back in game two to tie it and
05:09to stay alive.
05:10Off Dylan Lee, right, back-to-back home runs, thanks, right?
05:13Miracle shots just to get it to game three.
05:16The Phillies did not deserve by any stretch to win this series.
05:21They were fortunate to get it to game three.
05:23...
05:24...
05:24...
