A special 5-kilometer run in the Netherlands turns into a personal milestone as she joins an event for people who have been in intensive care, something that feels especially meaningful because of her own heart disease history. She brings us along through the morning, from translating Luganda with a laptop and dictionary to grabbing breakfast, preparing the house, and heading out for the race.

The day mixes lifestyle vlog moments with a heartfelt sports event, and the result is both practical and emotional. She runs alongside a friend who also has a heart disease, talks about getting back to her old 34-minute five-kilometer pace, and shares why these runs matter so much: everyone gets a medal, no matter their time. After the race, she reflects on training, future runs in the Netherlands, and even a goal to join a run in Uganda.

Along the way, there is also home-life content, including cleaning and oiling the floor in her new place, cooking, showering, and settling in for some work from bed. It is a calm but active Netherlands vlog with running, heart health, language learning, and everyday routines all in one story.

Perfect for viewers searching for a Netherlands vlog, running vlog, 5K race day, heart disease journey, Luganda language learning, and lifestyle content with real-life motivation. It also fits searches for inspirational running videos, travel-and-life vlogs, and personal daily routine content with a positive, grounded tone.

00:19Hello everyone and thanks for watching this new vlog. My name is Jetske and I am from the Netherlands,
00:25currently living in the Netherlands, but my boyfriend is from Uganda. Today is going to be an
00:32excited day. I'm going to bring you along. I'm going to do a run. It's kind of a special run.
00:40It is a run for people who laid in the past on the intensive care in the hospital. Since I'm
00:47born with a heart disease, I laid in only intensive care when I was a baby and a toddler.
00:54So until today, I still can join the run for free. So that's really nice. It's 5 kilometers. It's not
01:02really far. But yeah, for me, it always feels special because you run it all together with
01:09people who laid on the intensive care. So it's kind of a nice event. And I will run it together
01:16with a friend of mine. She has also a heart disease. So yeah, it's going to be a special day.
01:24But I started today with translating Luganda. And I thought I'm going to bring you along with one
01:32sentence, how I translate it. Because I have my laptop here in front of me and my dictionary. And
01:40those two together helps me a lot. Because there is one website, it is onlinetranslationpro.com.
01:49And you can translate English to Luganda and Luganda to English. So what I'm doing most of the time,
01:56I don't know a Luganda word, I type it as first on the translation program. But the problem with that
02:06program is that they don't translate it really well. So what I do mostly, most of the time,
02:12when I see a word, I check it again, like in English in my dictionary. So yeah, I'm going to
02:20give you the
02:21example, how I do. So for now, I have the sentence naaie, tofajo, casita, nze, sise. I know naaie is
02:31but,
02:32tofajo, I'm not sure. So what am I going to do is then put it in the translation. Don't worry.
02:42Ato is don't. Vajo is that worry. So what I'm going to do then is search for worry. Worry, worry,
02:52worry, worry.
02:53Worry. Tofajo, don't worry. It's here in the dictionary. Tofajo. Okay, nice.
03:01Tofajo. I'm going to write it down. Here I have the, I wrote down the whole part. And here I'm
03:08going
03:09to translate it, well, all the words that I didn't know. Tofajo. So, but don't worry. Casita. Casita.
03:20As long as nze. Okay, in this case, I put down sise sese in the translation program. And then
03:30the translation is again sise sese. So the translation program doesn't know this word alone.
03:36So what I'm going to do next is put in the whole sentence in the translation program.
03:43Because most of the time it starts recognizing the word then and the whole sentence. But don't worry.
03:50As long as I don't laugh. Sometimes they make sentences. Maybe I found sise sese.
04:02Sometimes I'm so long busy with one sentence, but I just want to make sure that I'm understanding
04:10all the words and not doing something. I mean, it's really easy to just write it down now and then
04:17say
04:18to my teacher, this is what I've got. But I want to understand it because otherwise I never learn it.
04:23That's the most hardest part of Luganda. That sometimes you have to remove the first
04:28two letters or even more to get the other words. Sese sese. Make laugh. Sese sese is make laugh.
04:38So, but don't worry. As long as I don't laugh. It's a really crazy sentence.
04:43Bato bange. Bato bange is my people. Please.
04:48Nsaba. Oh, it's also please. O basonyewe. Please forgive my people.
04:54Already the last sentence. Kintu ya damu nti.
05:02Wait. That is I forgive, I think.
05:06I have forgive them. I'm so excited. You know, at first when I was translating the first book,
05:16that was just one sentence and I was, it was taken an hour. And with this book, I don't know,
05:21maybe somehow the sentences are more easier or I've become better in Uganda.
05:27Yesunyaka. Is that smiled? Happy. Nambi was very happy. That's of course. Because
05:33Nsanyu say okukulaba. That is I'm happy to see you. Okay. The page of today is already translated.
05:41Oh my god. I'm so excited that I became better and better in Luganda. And I'm starting to understand
05:48words and sentences and how the grammar works. And yeah. I'm going to stop talking. I'm going to
05:56have a breakfast because I'm already really hungry. And it's going to be a nice one because I'm going
06:03to eat a smoothie with beetroot. And beetroot is really good for your heart, they say. So I thought,
06:12let's do that. Does anyone like smoothies as well? You can really wake me up for smoothie bowls. Okay,
06:34I just had my breakfast and I have like 45 minutes left before I have to go for the run.
06:42And I thought,
06:43yeah, you don't see it really clearly, but this floor, it is not nice. When I came here, I had
06:49like
06:49a wooden floor and the previous people who lived here didn't take a really good care of it. So it's
06:57a mess.
06:59But you have like stuff in the Netherlands that, yeah, help protect the floor. But before you apply that,
07:08you have to clean it. And it's going to take some hours when you apply the the protector before you
07:16can walk on it. So I thought when I do now the kitchen and I'm going for the run, when
07:23I'm back,
07:23then it's enough hours in between the period that I add the protector on the floor and that it dried
07:31and go into the floor. So I hope you will see a difference. I will show a before and then
07:38after
07:38the run, you will see an after. No, you will see the before and after, after the run. So let's
07:46clean.
07:46Now, let's clean.
08:22Sometimes I really feel like an idiot because the previous people left some maintenance oil,
08:32some wood cleaner and some natural soap.
08:39So yeah, I thought actually I had to do it the other way around, like cleaning the floor,
08:44putting oil on it and then the protector, of course, but now in the kitchen I didn't put the oil,
08:50but I want to do this whole living room before there comes a couch and other furniture.
08:56So my plan is the following.
08:58No, I don't have time now to do it now, but tonight I'm going to clean part of the floor
09:06because I can't do the whole living room.
09:09Then tomorrow morning I do the oil and I was reading you have to wait 24 hours.
09:17So on Tuesday morning I do the protector.
09:20No, I have to wait then as well.
09:22And then on Tuesday evening I'm going to clean the other part of the floor, etc.
09:27Yes, it's going to be a job that takes some days.
09:31And I don't know why I didn't do this before I came in this house.
09:36But hey, we all make our mistakes.
09:39And I saw this thing.
09:41Gee, this is way more easy.
09:43I can just wipe it.
09:47And I have this towel as well.
09:50Mijn goede.
09:52Okay guys, I talked already way too much.
09:56It's time for the run.
10:13Okay, the pipe is already there and you see here five kilometers.
10:19I will see that in some hours.
10:21We're just going to have a warming up and I have to see people from the organization.
10:27Okay, let's go.
10:30I love the vibe.
10:56Oh my goodness, guys, I did it.
10:59I did the five kilometer and I did it on my own level.
11:05Okay, I'm going to talk to you later on, but first I'm going to eat.
11:08This is like a salad from the supermarket with lots of veggies, some nuts.
11:17I think it was couscous.
11:19Is that the right word?
11:21I don't even know what's in there, but it is good and I need it because it's now three
11:25o'clock and I didn't have lunch yet.
11:27So lunchtime.
11:30Oh my goodness, guys, I'm just changed.
11:33I took a shower and I'm kind of, I have really red cheeks, but that's because I'm tired and I'm
11:41a little bit hungry again.
11:44But today it was so awesome and I was back on my old level again because I used to run
11:54around 34 minutes.
11:59No, five kilometers in 34 minutes.
12:03But because of my travels to Uganda and barely training, I became lower on a level lower.
12:12Jesus Christ, I am tired now.
12:15I can tell and hungry because otherwise my English doesn't feel this way.
12:19So I became on a lower level and this was somehow frustrating.
12:27And the last two weeks I was running again five kilometer for the first time since ever.
12:33It felt good, but I wasn't there on my old level.
12:37But today I run again 34 minutes.
12:43Yay.
12:44Oh, I'm so thankful.
12:46And I like those runs so much because the most, the thing I like the most is that everyone gets
12:57a medal.
12:58I see now the background, sorry, I'm going to oil the floor later on, but everyone is getting a medal.
13:06And that's what I like about all the runs because it doesn't matter if it, if you take one hour
13:12or 34 minutes or 20 minutes,
13:14it doesn't matter.
13:15Everyone gets that medal.
13:17And that's so, for me, it is so supportive because when I had gymnastics at school, it was always about
13:26competition,
13:27being the fastest, being the strongest, being the, and I was always the latest from the class.
13:33Nobody wants to be with me in a team because they already know, oh, we're going to lose if Jeske
13:40is always in our team.
13:41And I didn't like that at all.
13:46But now, yeah, it is just fun.
13:49You know, it is, I do it for fun.
13:50I, of course, I also do it for the medal, but because everyone get a medal, it is just fun
13:56to do.
13:57And I would really recommend you to do it as well.
14:00And my, one of my goals still is to join a run in Uganda.
14:05I know you have like two types of marathons.
14:08You have the source of the now run.
14:12But I think it was also possible to run around 10 or 20 kilometer.
14:17And I think I go for 10 by then because it's in the mountains and it's a different climate.
14:23And that's way too much.
14:25But one of my goals is to run the source of the now run in Uganda.
14:31That's would be really awesome.
14:33But for this year, there are some other runs on the planning in the Netherlands.
14:37I'm excited.
14:38I have my running high back.
14:44I think this was really the start of me training for the, yeah, we have the Damm till Damm loop,
14:51the Damm till Damm.
14:52So you go from Amsterdam to Zaandam.
14:55And it's 16 kilometer or 10 miles.
14:58It's long, but I'm going to train for it.
15:02And I also invited Paul as well.
15:08So let's see if he's here and if he's trained enough to do it.
15:14But I thought, you know what?
15:16I just take this opportunity to run together.
15:19That will be so awesome.
15:22Okay.
15:23I'm going to cook some food before I end up talking too much.
15:26Then I'm going to oil the kitchen floor because it has to dry for a night.
15:32And then I call it a day.
15:33I'm going to do some work from my bed.
15:36Just laying in my bed and do some work.
15:38That's lazy, but nice.
15:42I like to do that.
15:44Who else works from their bed sometimes?
15:48Let's cook.
16:24Let's cook some
16:25Ahem.
16:25You can see here.
16:26a little bit the difference between this floor which didn't have oil yet. I was
16:32hoping actually that those black spots will disappear but I think I had to...
16:38I don't know the English word but like we call it in Dutch schroeden. So yeah but it
16:44looks really good. I hope actually it stays this shiny. I think not because
16:50it's now wet and I see already some dry spots so I think it will be the same as
16:58this but I hope you will see a difference tomorrow as well because otherwise I did
17:04it all for nothing. So yeah it's good to figure that out if I did it all for
17:09nothing or not. You will see that next week because now I'm going to end the
17:14video. I'm going to lay in bed, do some work and sleep like a princess. I'm excited
17:19for next week again. I'm really in the mood for working again. Just relaxing now
17:25and have a nice Sunday. And for you I wish you a really nice weekend if you watch
17:32this on the Friday. And thanks for watching this video. Please put a thumbs up
17:37it helps me really much and please don't forget to subscribe because it helps as
17:42well. So Uwe Baleenio and Uwe Raba. Bye bye!
