00:00I mean, that's pretty direct.
00:01Yeah.
00:02Yeah, you can't.
00:06Coaches don't love it when guys, hey, one game, they're all pro.
00:11The next game, they're just a dude or maybe not even just a dude.
00:15Like you can't have these drops.
00:17You've got to be a known commodity.
00:19And the known commodity that JMO is right now is that he's going to drop it.
00:22We thought coming into the season, Tesla was the one that was going to drop passes.
00:25JMO led the league in drops a year ago.
00:26He said too many already to start this season.
00:28And his coach isn't going to sit there and make excuses or dance around the topic.
00:32Yeah.
00:32And a lot of times Jason Avant, who does the games with us for Michigan, we ask him all
00:38the time about, hey, when you're looking back and, you know, the sun might be in your eyes
00:41or it's, you know, feeling the punt, whichever way you're going.
00:44And, you know, when the sun is in your eyes, he's like, there's no excuse.
00:47And because we heard that, hey, the lights maybe had affected the ball.
00:51And Jason said, hey, you got to catch the lights.
00:53You got to catch the sun.
00:53Like you've got to find a way to catch that ball.
00:56You can't come back and say, oh, well, it was in the lights.
00:58It's not the only game you're going to play under the lights.
01:00This was the most direct example, but you're lumping it in with the collective.
01:04Hey, there is a tone out of Allen Park.
01:08These players need to start picking up the slack.
01:11Is that what you're seeing?
01:12Yeah, that's the first time we've heard somebody talk directly about a player.
01:18And I know there's been some talk about Jack Campbell and, you know,
01:23Calvin Shepard has discussed him trying to do too much.
01:26And it's not the green dot.
01:27He wore the green dot last year.
01:28It's not a new situation for Jack Campbell.
01:30Is some of it maybe not having Anzalone?
01:32Not that Anzalone is a great player, but cerebral, that presence.
01:36Oh, sure.
01:37A high level linebacker playing next to him.
01:39Now, again, was he going to be a high level guy this year, another year older?
01:43Play dipping.
01:44Yeah, I don't know.
01:45But having the confidence that they're going to be where they're supposed to be.
01:48Is Jack just simply doing too much?
01:51But going back to the original point of this conversation is Dan never called out anyone.
01:56He just said, hey, we're coaching these guys.
01:59We've got to have them be where they're supposed to be when they're supposed to be there defensively.
02:03And you kind of heard it with Ross Tucker.
02:05Like it's it's not like they don't have they don't have top end talent.
02:12And there are some guys that maybe shouldn't be on NFL rosters.
02:16They're practice squad level guys, but it's up to the coaches to put them in the right positions.
02:20And then it's up to the players to be there.
02:23Should this team be dead last in every measurable category?
02:26No.
02:27With this talent, that shouldn't be dead last in every category.
02:30Especially with the way that you are and you had the stat earlier, the amount of pressure that they're applying.
02:35Yet it's 109 yards per game that they're giving up when they get pressure.
02:41It's significantly more than any other team.
02:43When pressured, they give up significantly more yards than any other team.
02:48So that's the front doing their job and the back end being that bad.
02:51Right.
02:51But you've got to be able to when there are plays to be made and we talk about the offense,
02:56if there are explosive plays, whether it's against New Orleans, whether it gets Carolina.
03:01If you have a chance to make that play, I don't expect you to be perfect, but you can't have
03:06as many drops as you're having right now.
03:08The offense has to play near perfect.
03:11And when Jared Goff puts the ball in position to be caught for an explosive, you've got to catch it.
03:16That's why you're paid.
03:17That's why you're being paid so much money.
03:18Well, and I think that's just the reality.
03:20Like, I don't like it.
03:21I don't like that.
03:22The offense has to score 30 every week, but if it does, those drops are going to be magnified or
03:27those pre-snap penalties are going to be magnified, right?
03:31Delay a game is going to be a bigger deal because you have to score and your coach has said
03:36as much.
03:42That's been the one thing offensively that has really irked me the most.
03:46And you could talk about, you know, hey, blitz pickup and running backs being able to block blitzers and, you
03:52know, different areas where you would like to see improvement.
03:55But this is one where quarterback has put the ball where it's supposed to be.
04:00One of the things, the threat that the effect that you have on the defense is that you can get
04:05behind corners.
04:07You can get behind safeties.
04:08And when you do, we have to make defenses play because that opens up the run game.
04:14It opens up things across the middle for Laporta and Amon Ross St.
04:17Brown.
04:18Like, it's a game changer, but it's not a game changer if you can't complete it.
04:22Hey, you circle this game on Sunday.
04:24Part of what I love doing radio is live radio, the unpredictable.
04:28We come in today and we were in the upside down.
04:32Let it play out.
04:33John Jansen has called this a must win.
04:35We're going to explore that a little more coming up at 850.
04:37We've got the Thursday touchdown.
04:39Let's get to Heather's news.
