00:00Bluey is not just a show set in the present.
00:02Across three seasons, the show has jumped backwards into the past
00:05and forwards into the future more times than most people have counted.
00:09And some of those jumps are genuinely surprising.
00:12Let's start at the very beginning.
00:14In the episode Baby Race, we see the earliest version of Bluey we have ever witnessed.
00:19A tiny drooling puppy who has just come into the world.
00:22We see Bandit changing her nappies, Bluey rolling around at the doctor's office,
00:27and eventually taking her very first steps walking toward Chili.
00:31It is one of the most genuinely touching moments in the show.
00:34And alongside Baby Bluey, we also get to see other characters as babies.
00:38Coco, Snickers, and Judo all appear as tiny versions of themselves.
00:42Most of them already showing the personalities they would carry into the main series.
00:47And the context around this episode matters too.
00:49We know from the show that Bandit and Chili lost a baby before Bluey was born.
00:54Which means those first steps toward Chili carry even more emotional weight
00:58when you understand what the family went through before she arrived.
01:01But before any of that could happen, Bandit and Chili had to meet.
01:05And the episode Fairy Tale takes us back even further.
01:08To a holiday in a caravan park in the 1980s.
01:11Here we see the young version of Bandit, who was very different from the patient.
01:15Playful dad we know today.
01:16He was messy, slightly mean, and loved picking on his younger brother Stripe.
01:21He rode his bike, spent summers at the beach.
01:24On holiday, Bandit got caught in a jinx.
01:26Meaning he couldn't speak until someone said his name.
01:29To teach him a lesson, everyone refused to say Bandit for the whole day.
01:33But then he meets a girl in a She-Ra costume.
01:35She was the one to help break the spell Radley had put on Bandit.
01:39And it turns out, the girl in She-Ra costume was none other than Chili.
01:43It all happened when Chili returned Bandit's cap,
01:45which conveniently had his name written on it.
01:48Bandit She-Ra.
01:50From that moment, you could say it was basically love at first sight.
01:54And Bandit clearly never forgot Chili's face.
01:56But that's not all we got to see.
01:59We also got a look at young Radley and Stripe,
02:01plus Nana and Bob, when they were much younger.
02:03And yes, Bob still had both of his ears completely intact back then.
02:07Which is definitely worth pointing out,
02:09considering one of them is missing a chunk today.
02:11Now let's jump to Bingo's future.
02:13In the episode Daddy Drop-Off,
02:15we get not one but three glimpses of Bingo's future.
02:18And it is genuinely one of the most quietly moving sequences in the series.
02:22It starts in the present, with Bingo meeting Lila for the first time.
02:26Lila is shy, struggling to make friends,
02:28and Bingo invites her to wind imaginary string on her back.
02:31And that tiny moment turns into a lifelong friendship.
02:35The episode then shows us progression.
02:37The two girls a little older, sitting together at school.
02:40And if you look closer, you can see it's the same school that Bluey currently goes to.
02:44Then slightly older, winning a science fair together.
02:47And finally around 15 or 16 years old,
02:50graduating from high school, holding their diplomas.
02:53You can also notice that, by her older version,
02:55Bingo has developed the yellow spot on her belly, just like Bandit.
02:59A small detail that makes the time jump feel even more real.
03:03It is the kind of moment that reminds you that Bluey is not just a show for kids.
03:07It is a show about time passing, and relationships lasting through it.
03:11Then, there is the Grandad episode, which gives us something even more emotional.
03:16Throughout the episode, Grandpa Mort takes Bluey and Bingo
03:19through the remote natural landscape where Chili grew up.
03:22The place where Mort still lives.
03:24There is even a name carved into a tree root,
03:27clearly from when Chili was the same age as Bluey.
03:29And when they finally reach the lake deck
03:31that Mort and his family used to visit,
03:33Chili sits down next to her dad.
03:35And the two of them start talking about the old days.
03:38Then the scene shifts.
03:39We go back in time to that same lake deck,
03:42and we see a tiny version of Chili,
03:44just a small puppy,
03:45sitting in that exact same spot beside her dad.
03:48It is a brief moment,
03:49but it is one of the most emotional time jumps in the entire show.
03:53Because it is not just showing us the past.
03:55It is showing us that the love between a parent and a child repeats across generations.
04:00The same lake, the same bench, the same quiet happiness.
04:03The camping episode handles time differently.
04:06Bluey meets Jean-Luc,
04:07a French-speaking Labrador visiting from Canada,
04:10and the two of them become fast friends despite the language barrier.
04:13They play together,
04:14they catch bandit together,
04:16and they plant something in the ground together.
04:18But then, Jean-Luc sadly tells Bluey,
04:23which means he is leaving the next day.
04:26But due to the language barrier,
04:27she does not understand.
04:29Next day, Bluey goes back to the creek,
04:31expecting to see him,
04:32but he's not there.
04:34And later,
04:34Chili tells her she saw them packing up and leaving.
04:37Bluey gets sad because she didn't get the chance to say goodbye.
04:40But then, the episode jumps forward in time.
04:43The small plant the two of them planted together
04:45has grown into a large leafy tree.
04:48Years have clearly passed,
04:49and a much older Bluey is sitting under that tree,
04:52reading a book when someone calls her name.
04:54Hello, Bluey.
04:56It is Jean-Luc.
04:57The two of them reunite after years apart,
05:00tails wagging,
05:00and the episode ends there.
05:02It is one of the best time jumps in the show
05:04because it earns every second of it.
05:06And the fact that Jean-Luc is one of the main candidates
05:09to be the father of Bluey's daughter
05:11makes that reunion even more significant looking back on it.
05:14Then there is space,
05:16which takes a different approach to the past.
05:18We see a toddler version of Mackenzie on a slide,
05:21and when he gets off the slide,
05:22he cannot see his mom anywhere.
05:24He panics and starts to feel completely abandoned.
05:27It is a small childhood trauma
05:29that the episode explores gently,
05:31with Calypso eventually helping him understand
05:33that his mom has always been there.
05:36It is a quiet and brief flashback,
05:38but it adds a lot of depth to who Mackenzie is in the present.
05:41And given that he is the other main candidate
05:43to be the father of Bluey's daughter,
05:45understanding where his anxiety
05:47about being left behind comes from
05:49makes his whole character feel more complete.
05:51And then there is Cricket,
05:53which is one of the cleverest uses of time
05:55in the entire series,
05:56because most people do not even realize it is happening.
05:59The whole episode appears to be Bandit telling a story
06:02about trying to beat Rusty at Cricket.
06:05But if you watch carefully,
06:07Bandit is telling the story
06:08as if it happened a long time ago,
06:10in the past.
06:11Now what we didn't know
06:13was that Rusty loved cricket.
06:15Which means he is telling it
06:17from some point in the future.
06:18And at the very end of the episode,
06:20we see an adult Rusty walking into a cricket stadium
06:23to the sound of a full crowd.
06:27He is a professional cricketer.
06:29The entire episode was a flashback
06:31being told by Future Bandit,
06:32possibly to his grandchildren
06:34watching cricket on television.
06:35The show hid a complete time travel story
06:37inside what looked like a regular episode
06:40about a backyard cricket game.
06:42And most people only realize it
06:43on a second or third watch.
06:45And finally, the biggest time jump of all.
06:48At the end of season three finale surprise,
06:50we jump forward to the future
06:52and see an adult Bluey coming home
06:54to visit Bandit and Chili.
06:55And hiding behind the door with a ball blaster
06:58is a small puppy, Bluey's daughter.
07:00The fandom has named her Roxy.
07:02Her design is a deliberate mix of Bluey,
07:04Mackenzie, and Jean-Luc,
07:06which creator Joe Broom confirmed
07:08he did intentionally to keep the question
07:10of who her father is completely unresolved.
07:13She is hiding behind the same door,
07:15in the same house,
07:16using the same trick Bluey used on Bandit years ago.
07:19Some things are just passed down.
07:22Whether we ever get a full episode set in that future
07:24is something only the movie or season four can answer.
07:28And the surprise episode
07:29does not just give us one glimpse of the future.
07:32It gives us several.
07:33If you pay close attention throughout the episode,
07:35there are multiple small details
07:37hinting at what is coming.
07:38There are drones flying in the background,
07:40suggesting that technology has moved on significantly.
07:43And if you look carefully,
07:44there is what appears to be
07:45a university graduation photo of Bluey,
07:48confirming that she went on to study after school.
07:51And then there is Bingo,
07:52who at some point visited Easter Island,
07:55which may also be hinting
07:56that she became an archaeologist just like Bandit.
07:59Bluey is not just a story about a puppy growing up.
08:02It is a story about a whole family across generations.
08:05And based on everything we have seen so far,
08:08it is very far from finished.
