00:00Just a good dowsing this morning, but certainly nothing more than a nuisance inconvenience for the folks here in town.
00:07But we are expecting the potential for a few stronger, maybe even severe storms.
00:11And again, as you mentioned, that T word tornadic possible with that as well.
00:15Yesterday, that was one of the bigger concerns for us as we were drawing a lot of similarities to Milton
00:21in terms of the potential for a tornado outbreak, which could have been likely had we had the instability that
00:28moved on shore.
00:29One of the things, Anna, you and I have been talking about, kind of the similarities to Milton.
00:33We talk about like, well, Milton produced a bunch of tornadoes. How come this one didn't?
00:38Well, let's talk about the direction Milton came from. Milton came from the west.
00:41It was actually moving from west to east across Florida.
00:44When you look at the path of Milton, a lot of those tornadoes were south of that east-west line
00:50I've been talking about.
00:51So if you draw an east-west line straight across the eye of the hurricane, south of that is where
00:56the tornadoes occurred with Milton.
00:57The difference being is that Milton moved east across Florida.
01:01So all those tornadoes happened south of that line and actually hit land.
01:06Yesterday, that north-south line was moving north with the storm.
01:11As a result, most of the tornadic activity, at least that we saw on radar, was isolated to the gulf
01:17over the water.
01:18So by the time a lot of those storms got north, they actually crossed that line into the lesser instability.
01:24As a result, most of those storms actually ended up just becoming more of rainmakers with some blustery winds at
01:30times.
01:30We did get a few instances where we did see an occasional power line down.
01:34We saw power crews fixing some on a couple of occasions yesterday.
01:37But certainly nothing near the tornado outbreak that certainly could have evolved.
01:41And again, might have, if you look back at the radar yesterday, numerous instances,
01:45this very strong rotation with a lot of those storms as they were making the approach to the Florida panhandle.
01:50But fortunately, most of that waned as things moved inland.
01:54All right. Thank you, Tony, for that insight.
01:56Tell us about how you're setting up for today.
02:01Well, today's kind of a sloppy day.
02:03We've been talking all morning about kind of how the, again, tornado chances are certainly there,
02:07but not as high as we were looking at yesterday.
02:09The two main key ingredients are kind of separated.
02:13We've got the wind energy off to the west and we've got the instability off to the east.
02:16So I think finding that narrow area of overlap likely along the South Carolina-Georgia border later this afternoon
02:22is likely going to be the area I would say would have the biggest chance of seeing a couple of
02:26tornadoes today.
02:28All right.
02:28We'll keep checking back with you in our final hour of live coverage on the network this morning.
02:33But I know you'll be chasing and bringing us info and video to AccuWeather.com and our social media later
02:38today.
