00:00if we kick it and miss it, I can live with a tie.
00:04That tie feels like a big-ass loss to me.
00:08Absolutely.
00:09You know, it's just like when they ask Jaden after the game,
00:11he said, man, he said loss, and he said it was a tie.
00:15I said, win-win, right?
00:17All of them said that.
00:18I'm with them on that.
00:18McLaurin said it.
00:19Quinn said it.
00:19All of them said that, and they're right.
00:21But, B, you know me well enough.
00:24I don't say this lightly.
00:25I've said this once before in the Dan Quinn, Adam Peters era.
00:30I said it after the Vikings game last year,
00:31where they're coming off a bye, Jaden's back on the field,
00:34they came out flat, got boat raced, right?
00:37That was a fireable game.
00:39That was.
00:41This is pro sports.
00:42People are getting paid millions of dollars.
00:44Yesterday's result, and I'm not calling for it,
00:46and I don't expect it to happen,
00:48but if a press release comes out at noon
00:50that Josh Harris has decided to make a change,
00:52it's defensible.
00:53You cannot look at the end of that game
00:56and feel confident in your head coach,
00:59your offense coordinator, the quarterback,
01:00whatever that flow chart is of who is responsible
01:04for that end of game scenario,
01:06you cannot watch that and feel at all confident
01:10that this group knows what the hell they're doing.
01:13It's unbelievable.
01:15It was dumbfinding to me, just to be honest with you.
01:17It is that bad that you have to question
01:21what the hell are we doing,
01:23and are the people involved the right people to get it done?
01:25No, because, I mean, you watched Dan Quinn
01:28at the end of that game.
01:29Right after that, the ball should have been spiked
01:31right after Rashard ran the ball up the middle.
01:33Just spike it.
01:33Spike it and then kick the ball.
01:36You're not.
01:36It's over at that point.
01:37You're not playing against the clock.
01:39Nah.
01:40You're not playing against the clock.
01:42It's sudden death.
01:43We're watching this on TV right now,
01:44and to me, seems like they were trying
01:47to take more time off the clock.
01:50Why?
01:50I don't know, and that's where it's troubling at to me.
01:54That's it.
01:56Magic Johnson, and I find this remarkable
01:59because Magic Johnson is Magic Johnson.
02:04He can say and do what he wants,
02:06and Magic's Twitter feed is often kind of funny, right?
02:10He's like an associated press reporter.
02:12He just reports the facts.
02:14There's not a lot of color or insight.
02:16It's just the facts.
02:18But he's also an owner of this team.
02:20Yeah.
02:21He's an owner.
02:22But Magic normally speaks.
02:23He put his money up.
02:23He normally speaks his mind when he says stuff.
02:26See, Dan Quinn or Jaden Daniels?
02:32To be involved, too.
02:33Because that person has direct.
02:35He's in the ear.
02:36Direct line to the ear of the quarterback,
02:38and it's amazing to me how people try to.
02:41They're all too late.
02:42They try to dismiss.
02:43They try to extract him from it.
02:46But he's, you know, and the thing of it is,
02:49let's, like, you don't have to find one.
02:51Everybody should know.
02:53Even people that don't play the position of quarterback,
02:56at that moment, we have to have a sense of urgency.
03:00Something has to go down.
03:02You know, I, on teams, was told by the defensive coordinator
03:06to watch for certain things.
03:08I didn't play defense,
03:10but they knew I was a guy watching the game enough
03:12to be able to, I'll run and say,
03:14yo, yo, Petty, you told me the why.
03:17And I will remind him of stuff.
03:20People that played this game more than two years
03:23should know this situation.
03:25That end-of-game scenario,
03:26I think a high school team can handle.
03:28Yeah, it should.
03:30Magic Johnson tweeted out,
03:31I'm in total disbelief
03:33my commanders had such poor clock management
03:35in today's overtime game against the Giants.
03:38All we had to do was kick the field goal
03:40and we would have won the game.
03:41There we go.
03:42It's so simple.
03:44It is mystifying, perplexing.
03:47Yeah.
03:47It was stunning to sit there and watch that go down.
03:50See, look, 40-something seconds.
03:53And they wasted 20-something seconds right here.
03:56Right.
03:56And so, but the thing for me is,
03:58I don't know,
03:59I want to know why there was never an attempt.
04:02I'm not worried about running out
04:03because it should have been an attempt
04:05before you must try this.
04:06Okay?
04:07And it just,
04:09it's dumbfounding to understand
04:11not having an attempt.
04:13If they miss the kick,
04:15if they line up for 23
04:16and Stevens misses it,
04:18it's a different conversation today.
04:20Yeah.
04:21We're probably screaming about the kicker
04:22who keeps missing extra points.
04:23Well, I'm going to say,
04:24Stevens got to stop missing damn extra points.
04:26Sure.
04:26I know that for a fact.
04:27But to not get an attempt off
04:31is dumbfounding.
04:32Yeah.
04:33Like,
04:33watching people leave that stadium yesterday,
04:36they were zombies.
04:37Oh, yeah.
04:38People were just shocked
04:39by what had happened.
04:41It was shocking.
04:42And I don't say that lightly.
04:44Like,
04:45for the Giants,
04:47they're now 3-1-1.
04:49That tie actually helps them.
04:50Washington had to get that win.
04:53They would have been 2-3.
04:55Yes.
04:55They would have been tied
04:56with the Eagles and the Cowboys.
04:58And now,
04:58to not get that win
05:00in that manner,
05:01it brings
05:03a series of questions
05:05into the game
05:06that,
05:08into the organization
05:10that I don't think
05:11any of them want to deal with,
05:13but you can't deny
05:15that you're having
05:16these thoughts now.
05:17Like,
05:18whatever you thought
05:19going into this game,
05:20and listen,
05:21DQ does a hell of a job
05:23of keeping a locker room together.
05:24That's his strength
05:26is the leadership
05:27motivational side,
05:28and he deserves credit
05:29for that.
05:30We've been having
05:31these clock management
05:31conversations,
05:33this game management
05:35situational conversation
05:36for well over a year.
05:38Go back to 2024
05:39when they had
05:40the magical run.
05:41They had hired
05:42a dude named Dave Gardy
05:43away from the league office
05:44to help them
05:45with game situations.
05:46He left.
05:47He got a big promotion
05:48to go to Tennessee,
05:49whatever it was.
05:50Whatever is going on
05:51end of game,
05:52now you've got
05:52a rookie OC
05:53who certainly deserves
05:55part of the blame.
05:56Absolutely.
05:57But,
05:58ultimately,
05:59and Jaden deserves
06:00part of the blame.
06:01You've got to have
06:01an internal clock
06:02as the quarterback.
06:03You've got to recognize
06:04when you go down,
06:05you've got to jump up
06:05and try to spite that thing.
06:07You had receivers
06:07so far down the field,
06:09they're not getting back
06:09to get set, period.
06:11But see that,
06:11DJ,
06:11but that's where I go,
06:13and I think people
06:13are missing it.
06:15Why the hell
06:16was that play called
06:18with receivers running
06:19way down the field
06:20if the people
06:22making the plays
06:23knew
06:25at the situation
06:26what was going on?
06:27See,
06:28the thing about it,
06:28it's impossible to know
06:29who knew what.
06:29I know what people say
06:30about quarterbacks.
06:32Quarterbacks are just
06:33like any other player.
06:34They go along
06:35with what they're being
06:36told in their ear
06:37because you're so
06:38focused on the game,
06:39it's not your time
06:39to be worried about
06:40the timeouts and all that.
06:41You're being told that.
06:43That play that was called
06:45where the receivers
06:46are going down the field,
06:47why the hell
06:48was that called
06:49if the people knew?
06:51See,
06:52I go all the way
06:53back to that.
06:54If I know something
06:55that's going on,
06:55I'm running.
06:56Everybody running
06:57quick outs.
06:57Throw it over their head.
06:58But I don't think
07:00the situation
07:01was even known
07:03at that moment
07:04when that play was called.
07:05If you have to run a play,
07:07if you think
07:07we got to get Stevens
07:08inside 40
07:09because of the field conditions
07:11or the wind
07:12or whatever the hell
07:13your logic is
07:14that you got to get
07:14the kid with a monster leg
07:16closer up,
07:17the Rashad White
07:19two-yard gain
07:20on first and 10
07:21from the Giants 26
07:22happened with 50.
07:24Yeah.
07:25You could have snapped
07:26that play at 30.
07:2825.
07:30The ball got snapped
07:31at 12 seconds.
07:32Yeah,
07:32that is what
07:33the problem is
07:34right there
07:35where,
07:35so,
07:36if you look at that
07:3812 seconds,
07:40the countdown of the clock,
07:42it doesn't tell you
07:43anybody knew
07:44the situation
07:45of the game
07:45right there.
07:46They let 40 seconds
07:47tick off.
07:48You're not
07:49competing
07:50against the clock.
07:51And I believe
07:52it's sudden death.
07:53I believe
07:53the mindset was
07:55that we can't
07:56leave time
07:57on the clock
07:57when it doesn't
07:58make a difference
07:59in that moment
08:00because both people
08:01had already had
08:01possession of the ball.
08:06I just,
08:07I don't know,
08:09I don't know
08:10how that happens.
08:12You have,
08:13listen,
08:13I don't know
08:14how it happens.
08:15The whole thing
08:16about it is,
08:16listen,
08:17going forward,
08:18that can never
08:19happen again
08:20for sure.
08:21And going forward,
08:23they got to stop.
08:25Listen,
08:26the pre-snap penalties,
08:27that has to be done
08:29or the people
08:29that keep doing it
08:31can't be on the field.
08:33That's the point
08:34where you get to
08:34because we always say
08:36players play,
08:36coach is coach.
08:37But players that are
08:38playing can't keep
08:39making the same
08:40damn mistakes
08:40and keep getting
08:40put out there.
08:41You remember
08:41when Ron used to
08:43always talk about
08:44what people got to do
08:45and I'm like,
08:45they keep putting
08:46the same people
08:46out there.
08:47I feel the same way.
08:48If you put the same
08:49people and they do
08:50the same thing,
08:50then you're part
08:52of the problem.
08:54Not to mention,
08:56because the end
08:57of the game
08:57was such a cluster,
09:00we're almost forgetting
09:01they were up
09:0214 with 8 minutes
09:03to play
09:04in the 4th quarter.
09:05You're up 14
09:06with 8 minutes
09:07to play
09:07in the 4th quarter.
09:08Jameis Winston
09:09turns into
09:10freaking Kurt Warner
09:11in the greatest show
09:12on turn.
09:12Well, he turns into
09:12Kurt Warner
09:13because all of a sudden
09:13you play more of a,
09:14you play now
09:15more of a
09:16a little bit of a shell.
09:19Complacive.
09:21All of a sudden
09:22the pass rush
09:23no longer exists.
09:24Yeah, it's a complacent
09:24but the thing of it is
09:27at that point
09:29you are dropping out,
09:31you're being passive,
09:32you're being passive,
09:32you just need to
09:32you just need to
09:54talk about playing,
09:57but complimentary football,
09:59that last quarter was no
10:00complimentary football
10:02you basically the defense was out there
10:04for damn near the whole quarter
10:05they're going to get tired eventually
10:07and if the offense is not moving the ball
10:10and helping them out then you're going to have problems
10:14I mean the amount of gifts
10:16Washington received
10:18Drew Stevens got to stop
10:20missing extra points the Giants kicker missed
10:22three field goals including one in
10:24overtime from 46 that they thought
10:26was good then the Giants
10:28the lack
10:30of concern for pass rush
10:32by the Giants
10:35Jameis Winston
10:36lined up in an empty set
10:38at his own goal line
10:40an empty set
10:42they went five wide and Jameis is
10:44empty standing at his own goal line
10:46in overtime
10:48do they have any concern
10:50about the rush getting home
10:51an empty set at your own goal line in
10:54overtime is crazy
10:56easy to me
10:57send some heat
10:58make the guy move
11:01and then for the defense
11:02to make the play
11:03they had to make
11:04on Cam Scataboo
11:05to force the fumble
11:08I don't know
11:09and yesterday
11:10they kind of closed ranks on it
11:12right
11:12Dan Quinn took the blame
11:14Jaden took the blame
11:14nobody was going to say
11:15what it was
11:16in the locker room
11:17we're trying to ask
11:18what was the play call
11:18are you aware of the timeouts
11:20Chris Paul's the one that says
11:21yes we were aware of the timeouts
11:22the question was kind of phrased
11:24awkwardly
11:24I'm not entirely sure
11:25he knew exactly what he was saying there
11:27mm-hmm
11:30I don't
11:31do you think they didn't know
11:33that it was sudden death
11:34at that moment
11:35because that is fireable too
11:37see to me
11:38I just think that
11:39that
11:39it seems like the
11:41the actual situation
11:44wasn't totally
11:45understood
11:48I've watched
11:49the body language
11:50I've watched people
11:50leaving the huddle
11:51running down the field
11:52not coming back
11:53and it just tell me
11:55something had not been expressed
11:58like
11:59playing
12:00why
12:01I almost said
12:02that word
12:03I'm watching Bill Belichick
12:05when he would coach
12:06and
12:07when they were asking
12:08the players
12:08one day about
12:09they just kept
12:10these little catchphrases
12:11he would throw out
12:12in certain situations
12:15Andy did it
12:16Joe did it
12:17Coach Jones did it
12:18in high school
12:19all the time
12:19to where when it was
12:20a certain situation
12:21we would say stuff
12:22and everybody's repeating it
12:23so
12:23everybody knows
12:25if you look at the
12:28people in the body languages
12:29at that moment
12:31nothing had been expressed
12:33to people to be
12:33everybody understanding
12:35because if we could say
12:36you say Chris Paul
12:37say
12:38where we knew
12:39seemed like one person knew
12:41because that
12:42if you want to blame Jaden
12:44and he certainly shares
12:45part of the blame
12:45you got to be the leader
12:46on the field
12:47you got to have that clock
12:48in your head
12:48balls got to come out
12:49whatever it is
12:50nobody else
13:07when I send a play in
13:10I'm also giving you
13:11extra stuff
13:12I don't just send a play
13:13and expect you to know
13:14the rest of the
13:15the circumstances
13:17when I send a play
13:18and I'm also like
13:19look remember
13:20no time on the clock
13:21we got to
13:21we got to
13:22with no timeouts
13:22we got to make sure
13:23we clock it or whatever
13:26obviously that wasn't said
13:28not to mention
13:29the way they use
13:30their timeouts
13:31is asinine
13:32and willy-nilly
13:32and not effective
13:34wasn't it
13:34at one point
13:35I don't know
13:36if it was an overtime
13:37where he was
13:38like he couldn't hear them
13:39or hear something
13:41maybe
13:41you know
13:41so that could have
13:43and they called a timeout
13:44at that moment
13:45did they get it fixed
13:46if it was something
13:47he couldn't hear
13:47first and 10
13:48at the 26
13:49with 55 seconds left
13:50and you don't win the game
13:52in sudden death
13:53I
13:54listen
13:54the winning the game part
13:56whatever
13:57I just wanted to attempt
13:58at the field goal
13:59sure
14:00that's what I wanted
14:01to not get an attempt off
14:02to not get a kick off
14:04is
14:05damning
14:06for
14:06the entire coaching staff
14:08and let's be real
14:09players don't get fired
14:10you're not going to cut
14:11somebody today
14:12because of that
14:13Jaden was phenomenal
14:15in this game
14:15oh he was
14:16Jaden was 17-25
14:17for 200 yards passing
14:19and another 9
14:19for 103 on the ground
14:21the elbow brace held up
14:22he got hit a couple times
14:24he went down
14:24on his left side
14:25a couple times
14:26he was fine
14:27I can tell you this
14:29once he gets something
14:30in his head
14:30he does it
14:31because I saw him go down
14:32I saw one time
14:33he was about to go
14:34and he
14:34we saw it in Dallas
14:36week 2
14:36when all of a sudden
14:38he's sliding
14:38and getting out of bounds
14:39but people stop
