01:21Senator Lisa Reynolds shocked the neighbors last week by killing a bill that would have banned
01:26harm reduction organizations from giving away free needles and pipes within 2000 feet of schools
01:32and daycares it didn't feel like Senator Reynolds worked with us it mostly felt like we were ignored
01:38we also wanted answers but our multiple requests for an interview were ignored so we decided to come
01:43straight here to the Capitol to get a response yeah hi I'm Pete Ferryman from Fox 12 Oregon hoping to

01:50to Senator Reynolds she's not available right now okay I've been trying five different times and
01:58haven't gotten a response excuse me is Senator Reynolds in there still yes okay okay thank you still no luck
02:05but she never did come out exiting through a rear door instead later after noticing we had been in the
02:12chamber the Senate majority leadership team called the Fox 12 newsroom wanting to talk to me and while no
02:18interview was arranged they did have Senator Reynolds office send me a statement it reads in part quote
02:24when Senate bill 1573 was introduced I agreed with the goal but disagreed with the penalty we're not saying
02:31no to harm reduction we're just saying put it in a place where it can help them and it doesn't
02:37expose
02:37children and that is part of the problem ladies and gentlemen we're not saying no to harm reduction
02:44which is basically you know handing out the needles to the addicts we're not saying no to that just
02:52not close to children which that's also crazy that you wouldn't ban handing out needles close to a school
02:59where kids are that's also crazy but then just handing out needles period is crazy
03:05what harm reduction how about you get these people actual help instead of giving them more of what they want
03:15democrat policies for you but hey you know people like that vote for it and then they complain about
03:19the fact that there's needles being handed out in front of those kids school you voted for this
03:24and then she got on camera said well we're not against you know harm reduction well we're not against handing
