Jeremy White and Joe DiBiase start their conversation by discussing the comments from Joe Brady about his decision to kick on 2nd down in OT and not run the clock down to make life harder for the Rams in case of a miss from Bass. Then they move onto the discussion about James Cook’s fumbling issue, and how big of a problem it really is. They debate whether it’s a big enough problem to keep Cook off the field more often, and weigh the pros and cons.

00:02i didn't want to run two qb sneaks with the thought process of again getting putting the
00:06ball in harm's way taking some shots on josh just to get we are we knew we were already in
00:10line
00:11so it's like hey do i just hey center the ball and just take two knees you know you go
00:15back two
00:15yards you but you don't give them you know they end up at worst if you miss they get 45
00:20seconds
00:20to you know they go 20 yards for the field goal big difference in two minute and and you know
00:25the
00:2545 45 yard field goal and a 47 yard field goal percentages you should still be good to go
00:31right and um you know so if i had that if i had that opportunity again um look i was
00:36convicted
00:36about it you know a t-bass was good to go you know the conversation we had in the huddle
00:40and upstairs
00:40was like let's just go win the game right now
00:47he does continue there to say that he would do it differently next time joe brady probably would
00:51do it yeah good work um i mean you also don't have to take loss on qb sneakily there are
00:57a lot
00:57of qb sneaks out there where the quarterback like kind of steps forward while his center goes forward
01:02and like you don't lose any yardage sure you still kneel it the the it is wild now the fear
01:09of a fumble
01:10from your running back and i was trying to find out if if fumble rates are higher than they used
01:16to be
01:16because of you know the punches and you can see on the all 22 the landman the linebacker for the
01:22rams
01:22he was hunting james cook the whole game look what tracking him watching him punching that football
01:28sure he got it out late in the overtime but and they punched him twice but anyway do i have
01:34to now
01:34treat a regular handoff as if that's a risky play i'm kind of asking that honestly because
01:42it watching the whole league it's not just cook i know cook leads the league in fumbles
01:46and i saw the number of points he's cost them expected points lost on fumbles over the course
01:52last two years it is 32 points that's the thing about epa it's a lot it's just like you know
01:59goals
02:00save above expected like oh how could you save a half a goal well you know you do it over
02:04the course
02:05of a full season and this goal that should have gone in 80 percent of the time that went in
02:10or this
02:10one went in one percent of the time when same thing with right you stop a shot that's a coin
02:14flip to go
02:15in it's half a goal sure yeah and not only that but think about if you fumble on your own
02:19one
02:19versus fumbling on that one yeah that's points added points lost versus fumbling on the 50 versus
02:25fumbling you know time it's whatever it's why three of allen's picks that are thrown 40 yards down
02:31the field are not as valuable as one you know two out route for a pick six right exactly you
02:37know with
02:38with allen i know arm punt can be a maybe a coping mechanism but as soon as he threw that
02:44interception
02:44the real loss isn't the interception it's that he didn't complete the third down third and six
02:50which would have added a first down instead it's like he missed that throw and they punted the same
02:54distance i know right you know arm punts are whatever you don't like the term something out
02:58there but i think with allen they they apply anyway with cook and with the idea that running the ball
03:03there would be risky i mean that's just that's a tough shit guys it shouldn't be a tough sell
03:07i'm a little nervous about cook carrying the ball but still what percentage of carries does he
03:14fumble the ball on so i like brady brady basically says like you said he might do it differently that's
03:20all you can ask for your coach here's why i did it yeah now that i've had time to think
03:23about it
03:23maybe i'd go back and do it differently and maybe they put some things in that they would do differently
03:28whether it's hand the ball to ty johnson or i don't know tush push maybe there's a spot too
03:33i was about to say tush push with dawson knox because you don't want to get josh hit that late
03:38in the game but now you're adding in another element anyway i he does say there's not much
03:43difference between 45 and 47 yards statistically so which is true they kind of ran it my guess would
03:49be they ran it through all their stuff after the fact and they're like i mean next time we we
03:53run it
03:53a couple times i i would be surprised if fumble rates are up i know it probably feels like that
03:58because
03:58of the the peanut punch being every fumble you see basically now but the fact that no other running
04:06back in the league in the last two years has more than six fumbles and b and it's bijon by
04:11the way
04:11who gets the ball a million times like his rate probably isn't that bad but that's it and then
04:17it's guys scadabo's at five henry's at four pollard at four like it's not really an epidemic it's kind
04:24of a james cook epidemic really cook is at 11 right yep and all these guys are at four or
04:29five
04:30mostly some of them are even at one or two that are like like kyron williams gets the ball all
04:34the
04:34time right he's at three um mccaffrey gets the ball all the time he's at two so and these are
04:40just
04:40fumbles he's not any fumbles lost so i i feel like it might not be a league problem it just
04:46is a
04:47problem here right now the other thing about fumbles let's let's really quickly apply them to
04:51interceptions get a couple calls in and paul hamilton in about five minutes here in football
04:55we love to focus on the negative not just us but coaches and players and you're avoiding bad things
05:02right you have a if the best running back in the league bijon fumbles a lot or if cook fumbles
05:07a lot
05:07it's how can i justify that can i justify james cook fumbling and the answer would be in a couple
05:13things like rush yards over expected right cook is fourth in the league in rush yards over expected
05:19that's really good in rush yards over expected per attempt he's in the top 10 and all that really to
05:25me signals is you know sure you can put a running back in there that doesn't fumble the ball as
05:31much
05:31as he does but if i lose those 88 yards over expected in just five four what five games yeah
05:38how many first downs is that how many drive extensions is that is that a game-breaking
05:42touchdown that i didn't get because the other guy was in so it's same with alan does he throw
05:47interceptions yeah you know what else you get with alan that you don't get with anybody else
05:51elite sack avoidance right he does last year was a one exception there but that was back against the
05:58rams where their their pressure to sack was six percent in that game yep that's the that's the
06:03number that the best guys in the league have you have a guy that gets away that extends plays that
06:08runs and the trade-offs sure the traditional too many interceptions for a guy like kirk cousins
06:15you gotta go man the same number of interceptions for josh allen it's very much that's fine that's
06:20worth it it i think though where cook is at it's too much like 88 yards very good like and
06:27try that
06:28that is drive extensions but four fumbles in five games like if i'm getting almost a fumble a game
06:33a fumble every 20 carries that he's getting so far this year is he due for uh regression positively
06:39probably because i would say like cook finished i would say even as good as he's been that's not
06:46good enough to overweight four fumbles in five games but right i would not expect him in the next
06:50five games to have how many fumbles did he have last season he had i think the number was six
06:55okay six
06:55so last year six fumbles and this year already at six this year he's got maybe pro football references
07:01and okay updated yet six from last year and i've got him at four for this year yeah last year
07:07he led the
07:07league in rush yards over expected right and that's not leading in carries right rush yards
07:14over expected it's james cook number one overall and number two per carry it's better than derrick
07:21henry derrick henry who by the way never fumbles right pretty much one thing about derrick henry he
07:25has four in the last two years if i was to tell you you know hey you're gonna put somebody
07:29else in
07:29there and give it to ray davis instead if it's just in that game scenario i think i could
07:36understand it if i've got a sure-handed this guy is never gonna fumble bar ball carrier i can
07:41understand it but all of a sudden switching over like 30 of my carries i'm losing a lot when i
07:47do
07:47that it also could be there's luck stuff too and like cook cook in his first three seasons fumbled
07:53the ball six times total that's it now twice per year he's done a four in the last five games
07:58like
07:58you might just think that even if you just keep throwing him out there that just luck will cause him
08:04to go down and fumble rate this year quick thing jerry ostrowski on the bill squad show he said
08:08cook should cut his arm sleeves off he's got the sleeves up his arm and that's something that
08:14thurman used to do thurman used to cut the sleeves off the arms you need to feel the ball against
08:19your
08:19skin not not all the way up your arm you got to feel it and that makes a difference uh
08:23dominic before
08:24we get to paul hamilton and last night's savers game hey dominic good morning good morning thanks for
08:28taking my call guys um yeah a few things just the first one i wasn't originally going to say this
08:33but
08:33you guys mentioned the nevis being cut and him having a bad attitude the fact that he supposedly
08:38patented thicker kicker and was selling merch i think is all the evidence you need that that's
08:41probably accurate six foot two listed at six foot 242 that's a big boy yeah you can probably still
08:51get merch for him if you want um but yeah the other thing i i was at allegiant for the
08:56uh browns
08:58the browns raiders game a couple years ago and it's an awesome stadium i was telling joe cali about it
09:02and it's just the most impressive thing i was there when it was like 105 degrees and they keep
09:06the entire stadium at like 68 70 degrees it's like such a nice temperature which is kind of like
09:11mind-blowing because it's a giant shiny black building so i can't imagine heat it takes right
09:15but yeah no it's it's awesome and all the raiders fans were cool although they have a bad rap and
09:20they
09:20do like a whole there's a whole thing if you get there early where they go through mgm and they
09:23have
09:23like a marching band and they're all dressed in ridiculous stuff which is that part you'd expect but
09:27yeah it was a fun experience and just about the game in general um obviously the rams i'm not
09:34downplaying the rams bills game that game was awesome and the bills are that was an awesome
09:39performance by josh allen and but for me it's like kind of similar what i said about the pats game
09:44is
09:45they have a great survivor's instinct like they very seldomly get blown out i'm going back to like
09:49the mcdermott era and what i want to see different with brady so they had a great always been great
09:53at
09:53surviving always great at like you know battling never you know backing down but what i want to
09:58see is when you have a team reeling similar like the patriots game is like i want to see the
10:03killer
10:03instinct which i feel like they were lacking under mcdermott is when you have a team that's in bad
10:07shape and you know you could just completely blow them out and blow up their confidence and just
10:12actually do that like show up and like don't play down to their level which i think this team was
10:16known
10:16for doing with under mcdermott and i want to see them just actually play i want to see their offense
10:22at
10:22least because their defense whatever be elite regardless of who you're playing um but that's
10:26about it so and i know both teams are paid and they're always but both teams are trying to win
10:31and i get all that but yeah i just want to see the bills just you know show up and
10:35be the bills as
10:36opposed to playing down thanks all guys thanks thanks and for the raiders this week they had their
10:41first really bad game this last week against the patriots the raiders you know they got out to that
10:473-0 start and they beat the saints along the way and they beat the chargers and they probably
10:51should have beat the chiefs and they were right in it against the chiefs yeah so fumbled kickoff
10:56fumbled kickoff that would have given them a chance and instead they i mean they're they're down a lot
11:02quickly but yeah they got blown out so much so that they put mendoza in in new england yeah and
11:10could we see mendoza against the bills not to start kirk cousins has been fine and they're trying to
11:16probably make the playoffs and they've got a good head start on that but anyway
