Seven PNM-controlled municipal corporations have received approximately $1.29 billion in budgetary allocations, nearly $490 million more than the $799 million allocated to seven UNC-controlled corporations.

The figures, highlighted by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, show that the PNM corporations also received a larger increase over last year.

But while the Prime Minister points to the allocations as evidence that the PNM corporations are receiving substantial funding, she has launched a scathing attack on how she believes the money will be spent.

Urvashi Tiwari Roopnarine reports.
