00:13In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you.
00:19Today is the feast of Saint Teresa of Avila, great doctor of the church, teacher of prayer and contemplation,
00:28a great reformer, a Catholic reformer.
00:32We acknowledge our sins, we acknowledge the compassion, the mercy and the love of God.
00:38Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy.
00:43May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and lead us into healing and life everlasting.
00:51Let us pray.
00:52O God, who through your Spirit raised up Saint Teresa of Jesus to show the church the way to seek
01:00perfection,
01:01grant that we may always be nourished by the food of her heavenly teaching and fired with longing for true
01:08holiness.
01:08Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
01:15God, forever and ever. Amen.
01:19A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans.
01:24From the beginning till now, the entire creation, as we know, has been groaning in one great act of giving
01:30birth,
01:31and not only creation, but all of us who possess the firstfruits of the Spirit.
01:37We too groan inwardly as we wait for our bodies to be set free.
01:42For we must be content to hope that we shall be saved.
01:46Our salvation is not in sight.
01:50Our salvation is not in sight.
01:50We should not have to be hoping for it, if it were.
01:53But as I say, we must hope to be saved, since we are not saved yet.
01:58It is something we must wait for with patience.
02:03The Spirit too comes to help us in our weakness.
02:07For when we cannot choose words in order to pray properly,
02:11the Spirit himself expresses our plea in a way that could never be put into words.
02:18And God, who knows everything in our hearts, knows perfectly well what he means,
02:23and what the pleas of the saints, expressed by the Spirit, are according to the mind of God.
02:31The word of the Lord, thanks be to God.
02:36Your words, Lord, are spirit and life.
02:39Your words, Lord, are spirit and life.
02:43The law of the Lord is perfect.
02:45It revives the soul.
02:47The rule of the Lord is to be trusted.
02:50It gives wisdom to the simple.
02:52Your words, Lord, are spirit and life.
02:55The precepts of the Lord are right.
02:58They gladden the heart.
02:59The command of the Lord is clear.
03:02It gives life to the eyes.
03:04Your words, Lord, are spirit and life.
03:07The fear of the Lord is holy, abiding forever.
03:11The decrees of the Lord are truth, and all of them just.
03:14Your words, Lord, are spirit and life.
03:17They are more to be desired than gold, than purest of gold.
03:22And sweeter are they than honey, than honey from the corn.
03:26Your words, Lord, are spirit and life.
03:29Alleluia.
03:30Alleluia.
03:31Alleluia.
03:31Remain in my love, says the Lord.
03:34All who live in me and I in them will bear much fruit.
03:38Alleluia.
03:39Alleluia.
03:42The Lord be with you.
03:43A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John.
03:47Glory to you, O Lord.
03:51Jesus said to his disciples, I am the true vine and my Father is the vine dresser.
03:56Every branch in me that bears no fruit he cuts away.
04:00And every branch that does bear fruit he proves to make it bear even more.
04:05You are pruned already by means of the word that I have spoken to you.
04:10Make your home in me as I make mine in you.
04:13As a branch cannot bear fruit all by itself but must remain part of the vine, neither can
04:19you unless you remain in me.
04:22I am the vine, you are the branches.
04:25Whoever remains in me with me in them there is fruit in plenty.
04:29For cut off from me you can do nothing.
04:32Anyone who does not remain in me is like a branch that has been thrown away, they wither.
04:38These branches are collected and thrown on the fire and they are burnt.
04:43If you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask what you will and you shall
04:49get it.
04:50It is to the glory of my Father that you should bear much fruit and then you will be my
04:56disciples.
04:57The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, O Lord Jesus Christ.
05:02King of St. Teresa of Lisieux wasn't born a saint.
05:10She became a saint by her actions.
05:14She describes herself as being rather frivolous in her younger days and became a nun because it was sensible to
05:23do so.
05:24She grew into a commitment and she grew into knowledge and understanding.
05:31She had people who guided her who were not very helpful.
05:34They were good people but they didn't know enough.
05:37And she said, if I had to choose between a holy spiritual director who doesn't know what they are talking
05:43about but are a good person,
05:46and one who is not as holy as the other one but knows what they are talking about,
05:51she would go to the one who knows what they are talking about.
05:54She isn't saying we shouldn't be holy or that is not desirable, far from it.
05:59But she is saying we need to know our spirituality, we need to know our Christian understanding of prayer and
06:06our Christian teaching.
06:07So she is a doctor of the church because of the way she spoke so eloquently about prayer and understanding
06:14of the spiritual life.
06:16And like her we are called to continue growing, to be saints.
06:20All of us are called to be holy and we trust in the presence of God doing within us so
06:26much more than we can dream or imagine.
06:32Amen.
06:47Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for to your goodness we have this bread to offer,
06:52which art has given human hands have made.
06:54It will become for us the bread of life.
06:57Blessed be God forever.
07:12Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for to your goodness we have this wine to offer.
07:17Fruit of divine work of human hands, it will become a spiritual dream.
07:22Blessed be God forever.
07:29Let us pray brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God our Almighty Father.
07:36May the Lord accept this sacrifice at our hands, the praise and glory of God's name for our good and
07:43the good of God's Holy Church.
07:45May our offering, O Lord, be acceptable to you, to whom the devoted service of Saint Teresa was pleasing in
07:53such great measure, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
07:57The Lord be with you.
07:59The Lord be with you.
08:00The Lord be with you.
08:00Lift up your hearts.
08:02Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
08:05It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, Holy
08:12Father, Almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord.
08:16For in the marvelous confession of your saints, you make your church fruitful with strength ever new, and offer us
08:24true signs of your love.
08:26And that your saving mysteries may be fulfilled, their great example leads us, lends us courage.
08:33Their fervent prayers sustain us in all we do.
08:36And so, Lord, with all the angels and saints, we do give you thanks, as in exaltation we acclaim, Holy,
08:44Holy, Holy Lord, God of hosts.
08:47Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
08:50Hosanna in the highest.
08:52Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
08:55Hosanna in the highest.
08:57You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
09:00Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like did you call, so that
09:08they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
09:12At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread, and giving thanks, broke it,
09:20and gave it to his disciples, saying,
09:23Take this, all of you, and drink from it, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for
09:48this is the chalice of my blood.
09:50The blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many, for the
09:58forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.
10:08The mystery of faith.
10:10Save us, Savior of the world, for by your cross and resurrection, you have set us free.
10:18Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and
10:25the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you've held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
10:33Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the
10:39Holy Spirit.
10:40Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo, our
10:48Pope, me, your unworthy servant, and all the clergy.
10:53Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection.
11:00And all who have died in your mercy, welcome them into the light of your face.
11:06Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, Blessed Joseph, her spouse,
11:13with the Blessed Apostles, Saint Teresa, and all the saints who have preached you throughout the ages, we may merit
11:20to be coerced to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
11:31Amen.
11:31Through him and with him and in him, O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all
11:37glory and honour is yours for ever and ever. Amen.
11:43To the Saviour's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed
11:50be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11:56Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us,
12:04and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
12:09Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your
12:15mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and
12:22the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
12:24For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever.
12:29Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, Peace I leave you, my peace I leave you, look not on
12:36our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity, in accordance with your
12:42will, who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
12:45The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always. Let us offer each other a sign of peace.
12:52Peace be with you all.
12:54Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take
13:01away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the
13:08world, grant us peace.
13:27Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, happy are those who are called to
13:33the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worried you should enter under my roof, but only say the
13:38world and my soul shall be healed.
13:41My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament. I love you above all things, and
13:48I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into
13:56my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there, and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me
14:04to be separated from you. Amen.
14:35Let us pray.
14:36Let us pray.
14:37Lord, I thank you always be with you. Let us go and proclaim the gospel by our lives. Thanks be
14:41to God and God bless your day.
14:44Amen.
14:48Amen.
14:49Amen.
14:52Amen.
