00:00so like is there like a particular venue or like um an experience like back home like you feel like
00:09uh played a significant role um in shaping the artist that you became
00:17you know what i always harken back to and it's so interesting that you bring this up is
00:24the first time i decided to just go full force into artistry it was after a really difficult
00:31time in my life is when i split up with my son's father and before then i was like man
00:36i can't be
00:36an artist i gotta be a mom i gotta be responsible i gotta go to school i gotta look a
00:40certain way
00:40and at that moment i was just like man i'm gonna just do this like i have nothing left to
00:44lose
00:45and i went to this underground rap battle in oakland and that was in 2014 so that was 12 years
00:51ago first time i ever rap battled and i was the only woman there um and i made it to
00:58the to the
00:58third round you know which is pretty dope i actually met one of my my best friends there i met
01:03a lot of
01:03great people and i've been rocking with that same collective they used to go by the name sure that's
01:08that regrets now they go with ruckus revival and i actually performed with them to a sold-out show
01:13just this friday and it's just beautiful to see like over the course of 12 years that really was
01:17kind of like that pivotal moment for my artistry like i had to be like brave enough to rap battle
01:23freestyle off the top of the dome in front of like 500 people and that allowed a lot of doors
01:28to open
01:29for me i was able to network and then people really started taking me seriously as a rapper and now
01:3412
01:34years later it's like my profession you know it's what i do for a living whoa so so before before
01:40we
01:41continue you mentioned that um your best friend can we please give a shout out because i mean as mcs
01:47we hardly ever
