Could Leon Kennedy's next adventure involve a fishing rod instead of a shotgun? We explore the viral social media posts from Resident Evil 2's director, Hideki Kamiya, who is urging Capcom to make a cozy life-sim spin-off.
Transcript
00:00Hideki Kamiya, the iconic game dev who directed in 1998's Resident Evil 2, took to social
00:05media to joke about making a life sim, where an older Leon Kennedy lives a peaceful life
00:09fishing, farming and hanging out with friends.
00:12In a post on X, Kamiya joked about making this adorable title in response to a post about
00:16characters Leon and Claire Redfield, leading the resi dev to reply,
00:20If I made it, it'd turn into a game where retired Leon goes fishing in the countryside,
00:24forages for wild veggies, bakes bread, walks the dog, tends a home garden, drives 50 kilometres
00:29to the general store for supplies, invites old buddies over for a barbecue, fixes the
00:34neighbour grandma's oven at her request, sells homemade lemonade at the local festival.
00:38But that'd be cool, right?
00:39As a member of the Claire Redfield fan club, I'm up for any game that features the RE2
00:43protagonist.
00:44Yes, I'm very excited for 2027's Resident Evil Veronica, so a game about her and Leon
00:49kicking back and relaxing sounds like an experience made in heaven to me.
00:52And apparently, I'm not the only one who's on board.
00:55Kamiya followed up with another X post saying,
00:57Capcom, there are a lot of voices out there saying they want something like a biohazard
01:01that's not scary, so if you have some free time, please consider making it.
01:04I want to play it too.
01:06Would you want to play a non-scary Resident Evil?
