Inside Villa Bagheera, Shray walks through a Japanese-inspired riverfront retreat in Pererenan, Bali, where dark modern architecture meets warm tropical interiors. Set on a sloping 1,200m² plot, the home was designed to keep the river view unobstructed, with the living space opening straight toward the pool and surrounding greenery. The result is a calm, architectural home tour shaped by natural light, privacy, and a strong sense of flow.

Across the villa, minimal interiors are paired with stone flooring, teak, marble accents, bamboo lighting, and burned oolin hardwood for a striking black exterior that contrasts with the softer, organic spaces inside. The house includes an indoor gym, an outdoor workout area, an ice bath, sauna, a private cinema room, guest bedrooms with skylights and blackout curtains, and a master suite with an outdoor shower and corner views over the river.

Created for viewers who enjoy Bali villa tours, luxury home design, Japanese minimalism, tropical architecture, and real estate walkthroughs, this episode blends interior design inspiration with slow-living lifestyle content. It’s ideal for architecture fans, design enthusiasts, and anyone searching for Pererenan Bali homes, riverfront retreats, modern tropical villas, and calming home tour videos.

00:01Hello, Bali Interiors. My name is Shrey. Come take a peek in my paradise.
00:11This house was, we bought it about three years ago, towards the second half of COVID.
00:17It's river-facing land. I was very careful about making sure that the view is unobstructed.
00:23You'll see that later. The house itself is inspired with Japanese designs, but also tropical elements.
00:39The Architect is a local firm called Design Assembly. They're extremely good. I highly recommend them.
00:45Our interior design was done by Studio MMR and our landscaping was done by Bali Landscape Company.
00:53This is the living space. The idea was you come in through the door and then you see the entire
00:58view with the pool and a lot of greenery around.
01:01A lot of the interiors, we try to keep it as minimal as possible with influences, with natural light and
01:06greenery.
01:13I just want to talk a little bit about the materials used in this house.
01:17We try to keep the materials to a minimum, consistent across, as primal as possible.
01:23So, you know, natural elements. As you can see, the flooring here is a stone finish.
01:29We use a lot of teak. There's some marble as accents for surfaces, teak dining table, a lot of glass.
01:41And then for the prep kitchen area we use, it's a natural stone composite means it's very hard to scratch,
01:48damage, stain and it's extremely durable.
02:08Here we have some bamboo lights. We have a little teak wood rafter for privacy between the front door and
02:14the living space.
02:15As you go up, the stairs are made of andesit stone and we have this nice Buddha statue head of
02:22natural andesit stone from Bali as well.
02:26Coming this way, it's actually one of my favorite parts of the house. So come in, I'll show you.
02:46This is a room I use every day. So this is the indoor gym. We have a treadmill, a set
02:52of weights.
02:52You can see that it's designed with a lot of natural light coming in and then I keep the windows
02:57open all the time.
02:58It's good ventilation and then just generally healthier to exercise in.
03:01You can see that there's an outdoor gym area, which is great for, you know, functional exercises, calisthenics.
03:08We have a dip bar here, some gymnastic rings and it's kind of seamlessly connected, but then it's also divided
03:17in case multiple people are using the gym.
03:19This connects to the recovery area.
03:26We have an ice bath over here. It goes up to about five degrees Celsius.
03:31We have a sauna over here.
03:38This area is really nice after the gym.
03:41The rest of the outdoor area, as you can see, we have an infinity edge pool which overlooks the river.
03:46We have a nice sunken sitting area to relax.
04:07Coming in from the outdoor area, this is the first guest bedroom.
04:18Here we have a working desk with a vanity mirror, full height storage.
04:23All of the curtains in the bedrooms are completely black out and they're also automated so I can control them
04:30from just sitting in bed.
04:32We try to maximize the outdoor light while keeping privacy.
04:35So the landscaping is designed for the privacy and you still get the feel of greenery and natural lighting in
04:43the room.
04:56So this is the guest bathroom. The walls are natural, local stone and then we have a lot of natural
05:04lighting coming in from the skylight and then the window behind you.
05:08This is kind of like a big sink that's completely made out of stone material as well. Rain shower, it's
05:15just got everything you need.
05:37I just want to talk a little bit as we walk through guest room one to guest room two, all
05:42of this that you see, you'll see it all around the house.
05:44The house basically is is cool in which is hardwood locally available hardwood in Indonesia, but it's black because it's
05:53burned.
05:54So the burning process is called Shugiban and it it creates a protect not only is it aesthetic to match
06:02the aesthetic of the house,
06:03but it also creates a protective layer from, you know, insects, termites and weather.
06:09And it's actually a Japanese technique to increase the longevity of the wood.
06:14So this will last for about a hundred years. No problem.
06:17We have the same oolin for the decking over here near the pool.
06:22And that's obviously not burned. So you can see the color, the color contrast.
06:25The outside of this house is dark, dark modern Japanese and the inside is tropical and warm.
06:31And that's the kind of contrast we tried to create. Coincidentally, we also named the house Bagheera,
06:36which if you watch the Jungle Book, the Black Panther is called Bagheera.
06:39It's a it's an ode to my culture, which is from India, but then also the house, which resembles, I
06:46think, a Black Panther.
07:00So as you come this way, this is the second guest bathroom. It's on the corner of the land.
07:06One of my favorite features about this room is the view over here.
07:09It feels almost a little bit like Ubud. There's the river running through.
07:13These windows kind of open up completely to give you an unobstructed, seamless corner view of the river and the
07:21trees.
07:22You can hear it when you sleep. There's a lot of natural breeze coming in.
07:25And then if you look this way, you can see the entire pool and the landscaping right across the bed.
07:34So that pretty much covers the lower area of the house.
07:38And now we'll take a look at the master area, which is the floor upstairs.
07:56So this is the first room on the on the upper level.
08:01So the first purpose is as a cinema room.
08:04We have this 75 inch TV and this like lounge sofa.
08:10So it's super comfortable to watch as we go further in.
08:13This is just a little multipurpose bar area.
08:17It's got some great Allen marble, which is a cool feature.
08:20But we have this little pantry set up with an inbuilt fridge.
08:23So it's self sufficient.
08:26And this is the the working desk and the office area.
08:30And as we go in, it's got a little powder room with these red terrazzo.
08:36And again, with a little bit of natural light, a massive mirror and this granite block sink.
08:55So as we come out of the lounge area, we have this outdoor balcony with decking that continues all the
09:02way across the level.
09:03We have outdoor terraces over here.
09:07And then on this side is the next room, which is the master bedroom.
09:34So as we come in, you can see we have teak flooring window for more natural light.
09:40This entire thing opens up for natural light and greenery.
09:44We have a table over here with a full length mirror, extra king size bed.
09:49And this door leads into the walk in and the bathroom walk in closet area.
09:57We have a full length mirror over here with a little table and then storage on both sides with glass.
10:04So you can see what's inside and lighting.
10:19This way we have the bathroom.
10:22We have double connected sinks, a lot of natural lighting inside.
10:28This is a cool feature.
10:30It's my outdoor shower.
10:32This door can open and close.
10:35And this is the outdoor shower with, you'll be able to see it.
10:39It's got a nice view and a lot of greenery and, but it's also private.
10:43So nobody can really look in.
10:59Thank you Bali Interiors for taking a peek in my paradise and see you later.
11:04Bye.
11:05Bye.
11:07Bye.
11:09Bye.
11:11Bye.
