00:00Drake, hey man, congratulations and thanks for coming on with us, buddy.
00:03What's going on? How are you guys doing?
00:04Hey, we're doing great. It was awesome seeing A.J. Brown back out there.
00:08How did it feel to have him running around in front of you for the first time?
00:11Yeah, it was great to see A.J. back.
00:12I think it's always any time having a guy like that back in the field,
00:16it's fun to have him in the huddle, see him back going in practice,
00:19and looking forward to seeing him out there again this week.
00:20Yep, and you know, obviously on his first game back, it was a little bit rusty,
00:24but when you have a receiver who's having a rough day catching the football
00:28like A.J. did yesterday, how do you make the choice between saying,
00:32maybe it's just not, he just doesn't have it today,
00:34and I'm going to keep throwing his way to show that I trust him?
00:37Oh, always. You have to.
00:39I mean, I think I definitely can make some better throws towards his way.
00:41I think that's kind of how I look at it.
00:43I think he's got great hands.
00:46He's been here as a Patriot, and he's been catching unbelievable.
00:49So I tell him I'm coming his way, and I made that, and he knows that.
00:53So that's the best thing about it.
00:54Three more passing touchdowns, Drake.
00:56What was your favorite pass of the day?
00:57Favorite pass of the day.
00:59Ooh, how about that one?
01:01Favorite pass of the day.
01:04Let me think on that one.
01:05I'll probably say the first one to Romeo.
01:07I hate that he ended up getting banged up.
01:08But I think any time that off the line gives you time like that to sit back there
01:12and see somebody running for the end zone wide open, I'll always enjoy it.
01:17I probably made it too hard as it needed to be, but I'll always enjoy it.
01:20Two other ones I thought were impressive.
01:22You correct me if I'm wrong.
01:23The Kyle Williams third and ten, the timing on that seemed to be on.
01:27And then you're past the pop in the third quarter there, that third and four where you're
01:30rolling to the right, almost near the sideline, and you just got it in.
01:32Yeah, I think Pop's doing a great job of staying alive.
01:35He's been playing some great football.
01:37And I think the one with Kyle is just timing and trust.
01:40It goes a long way for a young guy like Kyle and me and him as a connection kind of
01:46growing
01:46down the road.
01:46So, Drake, you lost three offensive linemen yesterday and somehow didn't get sacked once.
01:52How does that feel knowing that you guys literally got down to the last possible body to put on
01:57that line and they kept you upright all game?
01:59Yeah, I think it shows the confidence in those guys and the confidence I have in them.
02:02I think the confidence that the coaches have in them, putting them out there, and just the
02:05ability to step up and continue to showcase what they do in practice.
02:09And that's what they're blessed off.
02:10And you'll know what to do and be on the same page.
02:12That's the offensive line, too.
02:14How well do you know those guys, Drake, Matt Pryor and Walter Rousson?
02:17Do they even know the playbook at this point?
02:18Or are they just really going by the seat of their pants?
02:21No, yeah.
02:22They've been here for a couple weeks.
02:23They do a good job of knowing what to do.
02:24I think those guys are constant communication up there between Jared and those guys.
02:28And it's one thing of off the line and owning what to do.
02:32And when in doubt, block your man or block somebody and block your butt off.
02:35And that'll end up being just fine.
02:37You know, it's funny.
02:38Mike Vrabel is tough to read sometimes after a game.
02:40Like, you guys can play well and he seems down on the team.
02:42Or maybe the team doesn't play so well and he seems positive.
02:46What is the difference between the way Mike Vrabel talks to you guys after a win like yesterday
02:51and the way that he talks to you after a loss?
02:53Is he actually harder on you when you win?
02:55I think he just expects a lot out of us.
02:57I think that's the biggest thing.
02:58I think win or loss, he does a great job of knowing whether we can play better.
03:03If we execute it to the level that he thought we should have and win it out,
03:06I think he's happy that we won.
03:08He always says that in this league, coming out with a victory is the main goal.
03:11And from there, I think it's just about to clean up the little things
03:15and not having that sloppy as I thought it was yesterday.
03:17Quick turnaround, Drake, getting ready for Chicago.
03:19I know you and Caleb go back, as you had said before,
03:22your high school days and camps and whatnot.
03:23How much, if at all, do you keep in touch with him?
03:26And does it always mean a little extra to go against somebody in your draft class?
03:30Yeah, I mean, Caleb, I've known him since I was in high school,
03:33seeing him at camps, seeing him at college visits.
03:37So I'm a big fan of his game.
03:38I've been keeping up with him throughout college.
03:41And we've only had one or so battles.
03:44But, yeah, I think it's fun to kind of keep up with guys in your draft class
03:49and obviously cheering for him, except this week.
03:52Your teammate Kevin Byard was on the Bears last year.
03:54Have you picked his brain yet to try to get some inside info about their defense?
03:58Yeah, I know Caleb is a smart player.
04:00He's got a lot of stuff on his plate throughout the week.
04:04But definitely, you know, we'll see if, you know, how much, you know,
04:09I'm not really sure how much intel.
04:10I'm sure they know that.
04:11So they know he's over here on our side.
04:13So it's kind of a little, they're not really a chess match,
04:16but just kind of, you kind of deal with it throughout the NFL.
04:18Different guys, you know, different teams and kind of terminology and little things.
04:22So we'll see where that goes.
04:24What is the hardest part, Drake, about playing on such a short week?
04:27Is it like your body, your preparation,
04:28or just having the time to learn another defense immediately?
04:32I would say probably just a combination of, you know,
04:35getting back healthy and getting your body ready to go for a short week
04:37and just the preparation.
04:38I think a combination of those two things.
04:40Maybe not get as much time to, you know, focus on
04:42or really practice full speed some of the reps that you get in practice
04:46that you want to, you know, try to execute in the game.
04:47So that's probably the biggest thing.
04:49And from there, like I said, just try to, you know, catch up.
04:52You know, it's like you're playing catch up,
04:53trying to get to know them on defense, you know, as well as I can.
04:55I know, Drake, after the game you mentioned
04:57you might need to bring some more of your wife's baking treats in this week.
05:00What's the treat of the week?
05:01And were you impressed with the turnout she got
05:03at the grocery store thing last Friday?
05:05Yeah, the treat of the week.
05:06I just asked for the OG target chip cookies last week.
05:09So I think those are always a hit.
05:10She brought pumpkin bread in last week as well.
05:13But no, it's awesome to see Michael get the love and support.
05:16You know, me and her both from the New England area.
05:18And that was the reason that she's, you know, beloved.
05:21She's awesome and, you know, wonderful to have as my wife.
05:24Does she have an agent now?
05:25Because, I mean, she seems almost as popular as you
05:28if you looked at that line that was outside Market Basket.
05:31Yeah, you're talking to him.
05:33No, she does a great job of handling it.
05:36And she just wants to, you know, do what's best for the community
05:39and help out and give back and just be herself.
05:41All right.
05:42Well, Drake, it is time for Ask May Anything,
05:44which is brought to you by Northeast Men's Health,

05:52All during the week, people have put in their submissions
05:55to Ask Drake May Any Question.
05:57The only rule is it cannot be about football.
05:59We have two today, Drake.
06:00Let's go to question number one.
06:02My name's Orion Baradzonis.
06:04I'm from Lexington, Massachusetts.
06:06Drake May, I want to know,
06:07what is your favorite lunch spot in the Boston area?
06:10It could be near Foxboro, because, you know,
06:12you don't play there.
06:12Anywhere in the Boston area.
06:14Cool.
06:15Favorite lunch spot.
06:16That's a good question.
06:18Um, let's see.
06:20Lunch that I've gone to in the Boston area.
06:23I really haven't really gotten out to lunch that much
06:25to some places locally that I don't mind in Foxboro.
06:29I'm going to stick with Chick-fil-A, man.
06:30I'm a Chick-fil-A guy.
06:31Oh, yeah.
06:31So I'm going to go with the OG.
06:33Yeah, go home.
06:33I mean, listen, that's the southerner in you right there.
06:36Exactly.
06:37They've got a new, it's like a chicken and waffles sandwich.
06:40It's like the Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich
06:42with waffles as the bread,
06:44and you can put, like, syrup on it, too.
06:46It's absolutely insane, Drake.
06:48I haven't tried it.
06:49I know some of the guys have been talking about it.
06:50Maybe after the season, I'll try it.
06:52All right.
06:53Let's go to question number two.
06:54Hey, Drake.
06:55This is Conley from Boston.
06:56I was just curious what, you know,
06:58the biggest kind of culture shock difference
06:59between North Carolina and Massachusetts was.
07:02Ooh.
07:04You know, one thing I'd say is just kind of a southern style.
07:07You know, not as much sweet tea up here.
07:09Not as much, you know, barbecue,
07:11some little of that, some of the food.
07:13But actually, it's been kind of a nice transition
07:15to the food up here in Boston.
07:17Kind of more Italian, more seafood.
07:19I'm kind of branching out my appetite
07:20is probably the biggest thing.
07:22And then being near the water,
07:24I think with Boston, it's really, really cool.
07:25Kind of a bigger city.
07:27You know, Charlotte, obviously a city that I love,
07:29but just not as, you know,
07:31a big and historic city as Boston.
07:33So probably that.
07:34And just a great place overall.
07:35The people, you know, have been nicer
07:37than I would have expected.
07:38You know, you hear about people in Boston
07:39and Massachusetts and the New England area.
07:41They've been nicer.
07:43You're still not as much as the North Carolina hospitality,
07:45but I'll leave it at that.
07:49But down south, there's almost like a, you know,
07:51because up here, people will tell you
07:52exactly what they think.
07:53Down south, there's like a,
07:54oh, bless your heart,
07:55before they say something that's kind of like,
07:57you know, snide towards you.
07:59Isn't there a little more like sincerity
08:01and directness up in Massachusetts?
08:03Yeah, for sure.
08:04I think, you know, the, you know,
08:05when you're, you know,
08:06how I drive down North Carolina anyway,
08:08when you're at a, you know,
08:10a red light and it goes green,
08:11you're kind of a, you know,
08:12not even a green arrow,
08:13just the regular green and the guy goes left.
08:15I go left up here.
08:16I used to do that back home.
08:17So I kind of fit right in up here.
08:18That's awesome.
08:19All right.
08:20Well, Drake, congratulations.
08:21Another great win and short week.
08:24Looking forward to seeing you guys
08:25against the Bears on Thursday night.
08:26Awesome.
08:26Thank you guys.
