00:00One little update on the Jalen Hurts story that I did not see
00:03as we were bringing it up last hour.
00:07This is from Ian Rapoport.
00:11Jalen Hurts, who was out for the season after several blood clots
00:13were revealed in his lungs, has been undergoing tests for days.
00:16Before the London game, Hurts was in the hospital until 4 a.m.
00:20and did not sleep because sleep was a risk.
00:23He played without having slept.
00:27Something seems like bad doctoring there.
00:33Why was he cleared then?
00:35You know why?
00:36He could not sleep.
00:37Because of what the options were.
00:42That's why.
00:43That's crazy.
00:45You'd be amazed.
00:48And I've always said this.
00:51Just because a guy is cleared to play,
00:55doesn't mean he's healthy enough to be who you think he's going to be.
01:00And there's a perfect example.
01:02Now, how would that story have played out?
01:05Or how would his situation have played out if you had said,
01:10yeah, he's got blood clots.
01:11He hasn't slept in two days before the game.
01:17Right?
01:19But as far as fans, you see a guy on the field,
01:23you're expecting, you know, the best that that player has to offer.
01:29And I would say sometimes the best is 70%.
01:34And you got to be lucky you get that.
01:38I feel bad for him because of all the injuries you could have,
01:45that's the most dangerous.
01:48And I don't think people understand.
01:51Like, just look around.
01:53Look at all the people, especially in basketball,
01:57how they, as soon as they hear the phrase,
02:00blood clot, he's shut down.
02:02Yep.
02:02For months.
02:04Not to mention, like, the travel aspect of it.
02:06Right.
02:07They don't try.
02:08They can't travel.
02:09Meanwhile.
02:10Meanwhile, in football, he's in London.
02:14And their solution is let's just keep him up.
02:17Yeah.
02:18Keep him up.
02:19No sleep.
02:19Sleep deprivation.
02:21And go birds.
02:23Like, what are we doing?
02:25And boo the crap out of him if he doesn't play well.
02:30Sheesh.
02:30So, I always, you know, we always have these conversations,
02:34like, about, hey, man, just because of God,
02:39I say the same thing about Austin Jackson.
02:41But here's the difference.
02:44At what point, even though he's trying to suck it up and play,
02:50is he not helping the team?
02:53Is he causing more problems?
02:55We appreciate the effort, sucking it up and playing with whatever injuries
03:00you've had, because you had a bunch of them.
03:02Right?
03:03We appreciate it.
03:04Same thing with Teron Armstead.
03:07Appreciated it.
03:08But at what point does it become detrimental to the team to have to rely on that
03:16every week?
03:18Yeah.
03:19And I think it's crazy, dude.
03:22Some of the things you tell me, like, it literally doesn't compute.
03:26Right.
03:26Some of the things you've told me you've gone through doesn't compute for me
03:29and still are dealing with.
03:32But this is crazy because, like, did anybody say, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, man.
03:35Just no bigs.
03:37Just don't sleep.
03:39Right.
03:40Like, it's dangerous to sleep and not to play a football game.
03:43Like, what?
03:45All right.
03:46Right.
03:46Good for the birds, I guess.
03:47But, I mean, just – and so what ends up happening with players,
03:51I'm going to be honest with you.
03:53This is what happens.
03:55When you realize that you're sucking it up and giving everything you can
03:59and doing whatever you can to be on the field, and your team is saying,
04:03you don't have to be 100%, just give us what you have.
04:06And you feel obligated to do that.
04:09And then you go out there and you don't have a good game
04:12or not the best game, and you get booed by your fans.
04:16I ask everybody, what's the point in risking it?
04:21Yeah, there's no win.
04:22Like, unless you're –
04:23Unless you have the Jordan flu game.
04:25Right.
04:26Correct.
04:27Correct.
04:28And so, Tobin, as long as you know me, I said, if I have one regret,
04:31it would be that if I'm not – if I'm below 75%, I'm not playing.
04:38More games.
04:38Because I'm not getting graded on 75%.
04:43I'm getting graded by 100%.
04:46And nobody takes that into account.
04:48Let's go.
04:48All right.
