01:52Pip is full of puppy.
01:55She's hiding in corners and trembling, which is making me think that the time is upon us and it's imminent.
02:02This is all my stuff that I have been purchasing. I've literally just gone mad. There's syringes, there's gloves, there's
02:10milk, disinfectant wipes, scales, you need scales, puppy pad, heating pad, gloves, thermometer. There's so much to take in.
02:23Emma will not leave a stone unturned leading up to this birth. She will Google the s*** out of it.
02:32Pip's my baby, so just in case anything was to go wrong, it's better to be prepared.

02:41Clock ticking on the puppy chaos to come, I need Pip stress-free and well rested. But that doesn't mean
02:48everyone else can down tools.
02:51See you in a bit, love.
02:52Rob!
02:53What?
02:54Come in here.
02:56Yeah.
02:57Oi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oi.
02:58I've been filming The Gentleman this morning in London. I've just got back, it's 12 o'clock and here we
03:03go again. This is a normal day at the ranch.
03:10Chaos.
03:12Right, let's go and have a look what we got then, what?
03:14What's that, a nine tonner?
03:16Yeah.
03:17That's what we need, mate.
03:17What did I say to you four years ago? Why don't you buy yourself a digger? Because when you finish
03:23with it, you can sell it.
03:24I don't need a digger.
03:25Hold on.
03:25You've just said...
03:26Didn't I buy a digger?
03:27Yeah, where is that now?
03:29In the s***.
03:34Those diggers will be rolling down to the lake house soon enough.
03:39With the manner well into the second fix, all the details trapped inside my head are becoming a reality.
03:48What's this, the utility?
03:50Yeah.
03:51Oh, wow.
03:52Yeah.
03:53Yeah, I don't s*** around.
03:54Nice.
03:56I walked around here yesterday and some of the stuff we've done, you pinch yourself and you go, it's quite
04:02incredible that I'm leaving this legacy in my wake, my rocket wake.
04:08The double rails in the new wardrobe, are they oak? No.
04:13What have we had to wait two weeks for, for that s***? You could have got them off the shelf.
04:17B&Q would have sold them.
04:20Absolutely magnificent.
04:21Everything else all right, Dan?
04:23Yeah.
04:25Nice.
04:26There is a garden today, we'll just put them on.
04:29Credit where credit's due, my success this summer has been a team effort.
04:35I'm absolutely over the moon at the team we've built. Patty, you've got Glen, you know, you've got all the
04:40boys up there, the Carpenters. You know, James is doing a great job getting it all going for me.
04:45Vinny?
04:46What?
04:47Where are you?
04:48This is the same team as I want for the lake house. Who's calling me?
04:51You upstairs?
04:52I just showed them where them rails were.
04:54All right, yeah.
04:55I don't want to lose any of the trades. If they go on another job, I might lose them for
05:00three months. And that'll be a nightmare because I want to keep this team.
05:03Oh, don't say that.
05:05My crackerjack builders aren't the only ones I need to keep close.
05:11I'd be lost without me groundsman, Mick, keeping an eye out.
05:18Right, Mick?
05:20Yeah.
05:29Not being used as anything. It's derelict. We haven't got the planning through yet.
05:36The previous owner may have passed, but her old businesses still haunt me.
05:44So that's used to run the caravan parks as a business, didn't she down there?
05:48Yeah, but she stopped that two or three years ago.
05:53Normal thing, everything goes smoothly for a couple of months. One of the locals has run the council.
05:58So now I've got somebody snooping around there saying, where's the caravan business?
06:04I've got her housekeeper here with me now, Mick. How long ago did the camping site go?
06:09Before she died, she hadn't done it for a couple of years before that.
06:12So about four years, it hasn't been a business.
06:14The trout fishery is a business. That's not a business.
06:17Oh, that stopped a long time before the camping even.
06:20No, that's about six years ago. Yeah, easy.
06:22The fly fishing about six years ago.
06:25I don't blame the council.
06:27I blame these people for keep trying to stop it. They won't stop it.
06:33They'll just cost me a load of money and a load of time.
06:36And it's not fair on this beautiful grade two listed building.
06:41See, I'm still dealing with stuff that I brought.
06:44And Mandy was the housekeeper there and the chef.
06:47Yeah, 15 years. 15 years.
06:4915 years, you did, didn't you, with Celeste?
06:51Yeah, yeah.
06:52And then I started coming round, didn't I, man?
06:54Yeah, and look what happened.
06:55Oh, yeah, come on. Should we carry on with what we were looking at?
06:58Save the day. Right.
07:00All I'm trying to do is build a legacy here
07:02and put a hundred years on these properties.
07:05But all I seem to be getting is a hundred years of paperwork right now
07:07and a hundred years of roadblocks.
07:09I am doing everything by the book.
07:12Just ring me, we'll be transparent and I'll tell you the truth.
07:16And by the way, the thousands and tens of thousands of pounds
07:19that I spend down there doing the planning
07:22would show them I'm doing it all right.
07:24Yeah, they've only got to look that up, haven't they?
07:31Locals out to upset my apple cart,
07:33when Pip's due any minute, I do not need.
07:39If the lake house doesn't get the green light soon,
07:42there's a risk James and Glen won't have a building to work on.
07:49The slowness of the planning and the consent,
07:52it's all against us right now,
07:54and it's deteriorating very, very quickly.
08:00Flooding and lack of footings has given subsidence chance to settle in my 200-year-old cottage.
08:08One more winter, we'll finish this place, I think.
08:11So I've got to get in there and sustain it.
08:17What we need to do is roll you lot over that hill into here.
08:21We don't want to lose anyone, obviously, that's the plan.
08:24We're getting loads of problems here. It's all splitting.
08:26Oh, yeah. Falling down.
08:28I don't know how much we're allowed to do.
08:31Have you had a look at the...
08:33Crack.
08:35Blimey.
08:36This is just getting worse and worse, so we just, we need to do something with it.
08:39So there'll be a series of underpinning going through here.
08:41Yeah. We've got the detail from the engineer.
08:43We've got the crack in the back of the lake house getting bigger and bigger.
08:47It was built on mud.
08:49There's no footings in there in the back.
08:51We need to get Glen in there, underpin that, make everything safe.
08:56Then I can get the scaffolding up, then I can get that roof off.
08:59That'd take a bit of pressure off it, wouldn't it?
09:01Yeah. Well, we'll want to do that anyway before the horrible weather winter comes.
09:04The ridges have gone off the top there, Sweeney, look.
09:07Yeah. The roof needs loads of attention, so...
09:09This is what we're screaming at them for every month. That is getting worse.
09:14The biggest thing that hammers you is the weather.
09:17I've got winter coming.
09:19I've got rain. I've got snow. I've got frost. I've got ice.
09:23It's gonna demolish that place.
09:26And round there is just a shit show.
09:28There's electrical wires and there's cesspit tanks. It's really bad.
09:32The septic tank round there, they never emptied it.
09:35You should see it. It's like a jungle round there because...
09:38So everything was growing like nuts.
09:41If anybody from the council knew really what they were talking about,
09:45they'd say, lads...
09:46Just crack on. Crack on.
09:47That's kind of where it should be.
09:49Well, I'm hoping as soon as we get a decision, that is where it's gonna be
09:52and they'll just let us...
09:53All right, okay.
09:54So let's just get this done.
09:57I'm nearly on my knees brought to tears over the planning.
10:00So I need the lake house to get going now before it falls to the ground.
10:05Most of our stuff here is gonna be get Glen down here in front of everybody,
10:10get a lovely start.
10:12You know what I mean?
10:13Do you need to look inside or not?
10:15I don't...
10:16It breaks me heart going inside.
10:18There ain't a lot we can do, mate.
10:19There ain't a lot you can do inside, is there, at the moment?
10:28I like coming up here. It's good.
10:30At the manor house, take this off, Al, and paint all that, yeah?
10:36Even though the lads are smashing it...
10:38Why have you got a bit of wire around your belt, you ****?
10:41To show you're a sparky?
10:44For once, it's not my schedule everyone's working to.
10:49Pip, come on. Pip.
10:51Stop being...
10:52Come on.
10:54She's, like, blanking me.
10:56Mummy, come on.
10:58Oh, she's going in her little bed. That's all right.
11:01It's Pip's first litter.
11:03Is she nervous? I'm nervous.
11:05She's looking to me for guidance, for help.
11:08She doesn't know. I don't know.
11:11There'll be a lot of stress on Pip and on Emma.
11:14And, yeah, um, anxiety will be flying high.
11:21There's always a risk involved,
11:22but you can't build a family without taking one.
11:26Come on, Mama.
11:28I've told Emma from the start,
11:30taking on the puppies will not be easy.
11:32You're the most beautiful baby.
11:34It's like me down at that lake house.
11:36There's no half measures.
11:38Don't matter how scary it can be.
11:40You know, if you don't take the risk,
11:42you ain't gonna get the reward.
11:43What are we doing...
11:45Come on.
11:46..about Pippi?
11:48Cos the birth is imminent.
11:51For you and her, it's the first time.
11:53So I really need to be here for that.
11:55I can do it.
11:56I've got the plates up in the air at the moment.
11:58Look, can't you see it, man?
11:59Yeah.
12:00With the other 20.
12:01All right?
12:02All right.
12:03Get that mixer going, boys.
12:06Until Pip gives us the nod,
12:08all we can do is keep calm and carry on.
12:12And I've got a long list to get squared away sharpish.
12:16So it's time to give big jobs like me log cabin a boost.
12:20What have we got on the menu at the door?
12:22Or Wobbly will still be here come winter.
12:27Watch this.
12:30It's like a trampoline.
12:32Yeah.
12:32So we need to...
12:33You're gonna light this.
12:35We need to do some digging.
12:37Oh, no.
12:39So then what I'll do is I can then put some posts in there.
12:42How deep?
12:44Six foot.
12:46Turn it in, will you?
12:48No, what are they seriously?
12:49No, we've only got to go down two, three foot, mate.
12:51Not far.
12:51What I want to do is put a post in here,
12:54get it level, then screw it.
12:56And it'll stop that movement.
12:59The log cabin will bring new purpose to this corner of the woods.
13:02Gonna have a raspberry quickly.
13:04It's made me realise I've let some other personal projects slide lately.
13:09Like my lakeside jetty and luxury beach.
13:15I drive past it every day,
13:17and at the moment it is a dumping ground for the geese.
13:21They are shitting all over it.
13:22So lovely down here.
13:27This is such a special spot.
13:29The time spent last summer with Shauna and the grandchildren
13:33was magical.
13:35So I've hatched a plan
13:37to give the whole area the makeover it deserves.
13:42Wobbly doesn't know right now
13:44that I've got another little project going on,
13:46which is another little cabin.
13:48And we'll see how long his cabin takes
13:51and how long my cabin takes.
13:53And I guarantee my days will be his weeks.
13:57Mark my words.
14:00Well smart, isn't it?
14:03So I've just put the foundation down.
14:05It doesn't require planning or anything.
14:07You can sit your shed or your log cabin on top,
14:10as long as you move it each year.
14:12Happy days.
14:15So last year we built memories together.
14:18You know, we built the jetty
14:20and we'll treasure them memories for the rest of our lives.
14:22The grandchildren will.
14:24You know, and we'll all build off that.
14:26I want them to cherish the outdoors, the great outdoors.
14:29You know, tree climbing and ropes and water and fishing and all that.
14:35You know, I'm building all these things, but I get the memories as well.
14:39There'll be a door here.
14:41They'll build this up, put the floor in,
14:43put it here so we can get the boats in and all that.
14:45Yeah, pretty smart.
14:48Put a couple of beds for the grandchildren at that end.
14:50Put a nice table in there, get the barbecue.
14:54Just tuck in here, lovely.
14:56Grandchildren get warm, stay in here.
14:59What a spot, eh?
15:00Absolutely lovely.
15:04Cowboys and Indians and shooting out the windows and sleepovers and mates in there and all the rest of it.
15:09Sleeping bags.
15:10It's kind of a distant memory of my childhood which I want to create for them.
15:26I've got to hand it to the lads who've got me this far.
15:29It's the teamwork that makes it all possible.
15:33You're not a digger then, Grant?
15:34No.
15:35What do you mean, no?
15:36No, I'm not a digger.
15:37I've done it before and I, erm, trapped a nerve.
15:41You couldn't walk for a week.
15:43Well, let's have a go.
15:44Don't be such a defeatist.
15:45I'm not a defeatist.
15:46Have you seen how hard the ground is?
15:48I know, I know, I know.
15:49I'm not cut out for this, do you know that?
15:52It's a young man's game.
15:53He knows that as well.
15:55How you doing, mate?
15:56How you doing?
15:56All dead, aren't they?
15:58All the ash.
15:58It's all rotten inside, isn't it?
16:00They're all buggered.
16:01Yeah.
16:02All of them.
16:03Yeah.
16:03Why don't you cut that horrible one down and I'll come and pick you up.
16:06You alright?
16:06Yeah.
16:06No worries.
16:07Crack on, boy.
16:09Get him down!
16:13This summer, ash dieback, a fungal disease, has taken hold.
16:18Starving my ash of water from the inside out.
16:23You can see how this has all rotted, all these.
16:27What I'm trying to do is get all this dead ash out of the place,
16:30because if that goes over on some old lady walking her dog, I'm responsible.
16:36There it goes.
16:40So this is what happens.
16:41They rot from the middle.
16:43This is the disease, look.
16:46Watch out, boys.
16:48Okay.
16:49There's trees coming down everywhere.
16:51So look, it rots from the inside out, right up, and then over they go.
16:57The trouble is, what we've got, especially down the lake house, we've got them all down the footpaths.
17:02So it's our problem, basically, to clear them up.
17:05It's a shame, but they're going to go over.
17:08And what they do, the damage they do, they've got so much power, the damage is unbelievable.
17:15So I'll get the machine down there, I'll take these ash trees out, and I bet you any money you
17:21like, there'll be a complaint to the council, what I'm doing.
17:25So I'm waiting for that phone call now.
17:30All I can do is keep the paths clear and the nosy neighbours happy.
17:35And maybe then, the council will finally see all the effort I'm putting in around here, trying to build something
17:42to last.
17:43How deep's it got to go, Wob, seriously?
17:45We can go about another 12 inches.
17:47For the land and the community of lads I've got working here.
17:52I shouldn't be digging holes.
17:54I've done it purely and utterly to help you out, Wob.
17:56Have you?
17:57Yes.
17:57That's the only reason.
17:58Here we go.
17:59Let's see what's going on.
18:03Colsey's got his hands on his hips.
18:05Just as I expected.
18:07He's been lying down all morning.
18:09I said, I bet you 50 quid Colsey's got his hands on his hips, watching.
18:13How can I run an empire like this?
18:15Exactly, you know what I mean?
18:17Why didn't you put one of them in there? You know the full-length ones. Couldn't we run one underneath?
18:22It'll be nigh on impossible to get the levels and get it right.
18:25Let me put three along there and then I'll try and wedge them underneath all this pit here.
18:29If you get underneath there, instead of you pulling it, you can do that, yeah?
18:32Yep.
18:33How's he shaping up, Wobbs?
18:35If you like raspberries, he's all right.
18:37That's all he does all day is eat raspberries.
18:39You can eat him well, mate. Eat him well.
18:41You look like you're eating well, Graham.
18:43You look like you're eating a lot better than the rest of us, mate.
18:47I want a field shelter, not a field bouncing castle.
18:51If you let him do it my way...
18:52I don't want no concrete, do what you want.
18:54As Marlon Brando said, I get paid to wait, not work.
18:57I know, I've seen you on the cameras, haven't we?
19:00Oi, it's a f***ing feature film!
19:04Oi, you walked into that one, son.
19:08Right, now we do it my way.
19:09He actually does nothing.
19:11Have you just worked that out?
19:12He points his finger all the time.
19:13Have you just worked that out, have you?
19:14He actually's contribution is nothing.
19:17The only thing he does is pay everyone.
19:18Yeah.
19:22Trust me, this rollercoaster of mine doesn't move without some gentle persuasion.
19:31And down by the lakeside, my hired-in cabin crew have been flying solo.
19:39Sits in there lovely though, doesn't it?
19:45Morning, boys.
19:46Looking smart, that, isn't it?
19:48Get in there, mate.
19:49You don't muck about, you boys.
19:51That's the door.
19:52This is the door, is it?
19:54Yeah.
19:54Yeah.
19:56You like it, I love.
19:58Not a f***ing choice, am I, mate?
20:00You built it for yourself, didn't you?
20:01You short arse.
20:02Yeah, I did, I did.
20:05Smart, innit?
20:06Yeah, I'll get the first round tonight.
20:08There you go.
20:09For you boys, alright?
20:10There you go.
20:10Whiskey on me.
20:11That's me, too much.
20:14That's really look smart.
20:15I'm really pleased with it.
20:17This is how I roll.
20:18This is my crew.
20:20Wobbly, you've got it all to live up to, me old son.
20:31From the manor house...
20:32Look at that.
20:33See our roofers there?
20:35Now you see them, now you don't, them buggers.
20:37...to the woods.
20:40I've got me lads out on the rocket.
20:44But back at Mission Control...
20:48You're not being told off.
20:50You're a good girl, alright?
20:51It's just to help you.
20:52With Pip's due date looming...
20:54Yeah.
20:56I've pulled Colsey off the cabin
20:58to help with Puppy Watch.
21:01Colsey?
21:03Hello, Emma, you alright?
21:04OK.
21:04What's coming after this?
21:05I can tell something's coming.
21:07Well, Pip's having six puppies.
21:09That's quite a lot.
21:10You know, I'm a bit...
21:12If you need a hand with the pups,
21:14because I have got experience...
21:15You've got experience.
21:16You know, you've got to expect the unexpected with pups.
21:18First litter as well.
21:19So you sort of let her get on with it
21:20and then just keep an eye on her.
21:21You might have to help her now and again.
21:23We can help each other.
21:24Yeah, teamwork.
21:25Colsey's motto.
21:25Get the t-shirt.
21:26Together we shall achieve.
21:28Yeah.
21:30It's a lot of stuff.
21:31Did they tell you to get some farting pills?
21:33To make her blow out all the wind?
21:34What?
21:35Am I joking?
21:39Oh, bless you.
21:42See you later.
21:43Oh, my God!
21:44It's going to be a long week, this.
21:46When Pip's time comes, we'll all be there.
21:51Lucky for me, I've always got my groundsman Mick by my side
21:55to take over when things get lively.
22:00Where is your list?
22:01I need to have a look at your list.
22:02It's in my head, man.
22:04In your head?
22:04That ain't no good.
22:06You can't...
22:07There's too much to do, mate.
22:08We've got to sit down and write a list, right?
22:12Oh, that looks well smart.
22:14Sign it off and we're done.
22:16You're done?
22:17Well, that was good timing, wasn't it?
22:19The keys are in the door.
22:21No red ribbon or nothing, lads.
22:24Oh, yes.
22:25Look at that.
22:33Very smart.
22:35Very, very smart.
22:37Great job, lads.
22:38I must say, the workmanship is brilliant.
22:43There's the old light that Emma wanted.
22:50That's the bee's knees, innit?
22:55Watch the grandchildren swimming out there, look.
22:59It's more coming like a conservation, outdoor activity area.
23:04It's the wildlife, it's the fishing, it's everything.
23:07It's every part of the great outdoors.
23:09The great British outdoors.
23:11That's what this...
23:11That's what I'm trying to create here.
23:13And we're getting there, you know?
23:15Thank you very much.
23:17Well done, boys.
23:18Take care.
23:18Didn't hang about today?
23:20Two days.
23:21Well, day and a half.
23:23There we go.
23:23The circus is out of town.
23:25See ya, lads.
23:27Love young blokes like that, getting stuck in.
23:29Proper grafters, Mick, eh?
23:31I've got plenty of work for blokes like that.
23:34That's another task completed.
23:37On to the next one.
23:40One cabin down, one to go.
23:44With Colsey moved off the job, Wobbly's had to call in a new wingman to learn the ropes.
23:52Which is what they call a gerfalcon.
23:54Got her yesterday, so...
23:56It's her first day at work.
24:00Not the sort of thing everybody brings to work during the course of a day, is it?
24:04Just takes a bit of pressure off me in the evening, see?
24:06Because obviously when I'm sort of working somewhere else with them,
24:08you're doing a day's work then you're rushing home to try and train them and get them going.
24:11But working here, I can kind of work it into my day.
24:14But don't tell Vincent that, will ya? Whatever you do.
24:17I'm doing it on my lunch break, alright?
24:20I don't want him to think I'm slacking.
24:23She's only nine weeks old, so she's still a baby.
24:25She's very playful.
24:27Yeah, hopefully we can...
24:29the next three or four weeks get her flying free.
24:32All I need to do really is teach her that I'm her mother, I'm her food source.
24:37You know, once they know that we are the food source,
24:39we then start to fly them free, build up their muscles
24:42and then we take it from there.
24:46It'll either end up in Scotland, it'll just fly away or it'll come back.
24:48We don't know.
24:51Come on.
24:53I want to try and get her to jump to me.
24:56The first stage of the training.
24:57See, she's a bit nervous.
24:59She's never done it yet.
25:01Come on.
25:03So I want her to jump off that onto me.
25:06It's the first stage of, like, recalling her to me.
25:10But she hasn't got the confidence yet.
25:13Come on.
25:15So that's the first stage of the training, right?
25:18So then what we'll do, we'll gradually progress that and get further and further away.
25:23So that's the furthest she's ever come for her food at this moment in time.
25:28Yeah.
25:29They learn more by repetition.
25:33You know, if you want a certain action, you reward it.
25:36And the way you reward it is with food.
25:39Basically, you've got to make friends with them before you can let them go.
25:45And that, my dear friend, is your dinner for the day.
25:47Looks all happy with herself.
25:50So, little sweetheart, shall we put you down then?
25:51Try and get on with some more work.
25:56There you go.
25:57It just takes time.
25:58You can't rush them.
25:59You cannot rush this process.
26:00You've got to be very patient with them.
26:02It's a very, very intense hobby.
26:04It's an art.
26:05It's an art form.
26:06It's not an easy thing to do.
26:07You're still using the same techniques to train these birds that they were using a thousand years ago.
26:13The actual core principle is still the same.
26:16You know, unless you win that trust of that bird and you're kind to that bird, it ain't going to
26:21fly for you.
26:21So, it's a very, very traditional country pursuit.
26:25And hopefully, long may it continue.
26:30The old ways are disappearing fast.
26:33So, anything we can do to give Mother Nature a lift is worth the effort.
26:38Even if, sometimes, we do nothing at all.
26:44We're waiting to trim all our, um, hedgerows up.
26:48I think, legally, you're not allowed to do it till the 1st of September.
26:53Your hedgerows are so important.
26:56You know, for the nesting and so they can get themselves in there
27:00if a sparrow orc or a gossaw or something comes out, they can get in the hedge and get out
27:04of the way.
27:05Bramble, gorse, just nasty.
27:08You just can't get in there.
27:09What it all is, it's being managed.
27:12You've got to manage it properly.
27:15All you see is these little songbirds backwards and forwards from the hedge, into here and out, into here.
27:20Here they come, look.
27:22What's these little birds coming across?
27:24Here, here, that little chaffinch.
27:26See them? See them? See them up there?
27:30Here's your goldfinches. There they are. There's your goldfinch.
27:34Here they come. Here they come, look.
27:36They are absolutely gorgeous.
27:39The males have got the big, all the big black stripe all down the face like Mike Tyson.
27:44The big black Maori thing and then the females haven't.
27:50Oh, that's what they're scared of. What's that? That's a kite, isn't it?
27:54Yeah, there's a red kite gone over the top. They're not happy with that.
27:58Here, look, it's a gossaw. Quick, quick here. Left, left, left, left. Got it?
28:01Oh, my God. Look how high she's going. Oh, my God. I love them.
28:07Lemon sparrow.
28:09Why has that gone that high?
28:11Did you notice?
28:13All your goldfinches and everything, look, everything went...
28:16Let's get out of dodge.
28:19Hey, look, what's that carrying? Look, look, look, look. Down there.
28:21It's got a pheasant.
28:24Dropped it.
28:25There's a kite there and a buzzard.
28:28What's probably happened is the gossawks probably killed a pheasant or something.
28:32It's eaten. It's the chest of it. You have a look. The chest will be out.
28:36And it has it warm and then it will leave it and then your kites and your buzzards will come
28:40in.
28:41Let's have a little look at what they're feeding on.
28:49That's a partridge.
28:59So that's where they've...
29:01That's been hit and stripped, look, and then they've all had a little go on it, but...
29:06Nothing wrong with that.
29:08Keeps the wildlife going. The kites will be on that now. Full blast.
29:15All in a day in the countryside. Things you see. Fantastic.
29:23With the day's work done, nature can take over.
29:28But for me, there's one more job on my list that needs ticking off before the sun sets.
29:35Just gonna check on Wobbly.
29:41Oh, yeah, look at this.
29:44Quietly impressed.
29:52That's lovely, isn't it?
29:54Yeah, that is nice.
29:56Wobbly's seeing my cabin. We'll give him the hump, make him grumpy and go,
29:59Yeah, flat pack, isn't it? Flat pack.
30:01No, it ain't.
30:02Funny, I was walking up and I thought it was reminding me of The Hobbit.
30:05It is like a Lord of the Rings house, isn't it?
30:07I mean, it's beautiful. It's very well designed. It's lovely.
30:11But built in a professional workshop somewhere.
30:14But that comes at a price. God knows what he paid for that.
30:18Really nice.
30:20But I tell you now, there is no way on the world you could build that from start to finish
30:25in three days.
30:25It's a possibility.
30:26Yes, I had, I had four or five lads on it, but that's the only gripe he could have.
30:32Well, I'll defy anybody that can have a pile of wood like what I had with coals.
30:37I hasten to add to build that in three days.
30:40It's totally different to what I'm doing.
30:43Emma, I like her sauna in there, wouldn't you?
30:46You know, it's horses for courses, isn't it?
30:48It's pretty impressed. I'm going to have a nice little balcony there.
30:52I'm not too sure about Wobbly's diet.
30:56Baked salt and vinegar.
30:59And every time I see him, he makes a big thing about fruit.
31:03Very suspicious.
31:05Well, that's given the benefit of the doubt.
31:08But yeah, that's coming along.
31:10Yeah, well done, Wobbs.
31:20Up with the larks, at the farm, panting since the early hours.
31:26Keep going.
31:28It's the day we've all been waiting for.
31:32Pips Pups won't be far off now.
31:37Good girl. There's good girl. There's my girl.
31:42Oh, there's a good girl.
31:45You just let her do it all.
31:47Yeah, that's all we do, innit, Pippi?
31:50You're a good girl. Well done.
31:53Obviously, things are happening in her body now
31:55that she doesn't know what's going on.
31:57So, it's...
31:58..it's just overwhelmingly nerve-wracking.
32:04Should we just leave her?
32:06Yes. All you do is let her be a mum.
32:11Pips got the lead.
32:14We've got to let nature take its course.
32:18She's got to focus on the contract.
32:19All right, I'm going to leave you to it for a minute then, all right?
32:21All right.
32:23Patience is all part of the process.
32:26We've got a long day ahead of us now.
32:28Oh, God.
32:30There's not a lot I can do.
32:32Emma has taken the reins.
32:35I can't knock her off the horse and take the reins and away I go.
32:38I have got to let her experience this and live through this.
32:41So, I think I'll stand back a little bit until she wants me,
32:44until she wants my help.
32:50Fortunately, when I need to de-stress, I've got the farm and the countryside on me back door to get
32:57lost in.
32:59That cover's come nice, Mick.
33:02Yeah, that's going on really well. Sunflowers should be out now.
33:05The bottom part is all for your game birds and the top part will get all the little birds and
33:09all the songbirds and everything through the winter.
33:12Sunflowers, millet, sorghum, kale.
33:17Hi, love.
33:20Hon?
33:23Emma?
33:26While I'm outdoors and out of signal, back at the farm, there have been some developments.
33:34But thankfully, Blondie's Aunty Lee is on speed dial.
33:40Hello?
33:42Aunty Lee, she's been doing this since she was about 10 years old.
33:45She is an expert. She has delivered probably about 40 litters.
33:49Lee, it sort of looks like the sack is stuck. It's not coming out.
33:54How long has the sack been there visible?
33:56I don't know, about 10 minutes.
33:58If you put your finger in around the sack, can you feel a pump?
34:02Oh! I don't know, Lee. I don't know.
34:05Is she having contractions?
34:07Doesn't look like it. She's just shaking.
34:09Leave her alone for a while.
34:11Okay.
34:11And let her regroup within herself and see what happens.
34:16Okay.
34:17To have somebody to be able to call that has done this a hundred times with their eyes closed is
34:25just invaluable.
34:27I mean, nobody can prepare you for something like this. You can read all the books. You can watch videos.
34:33You can talk to people. But at the end of the day, you have to be there. You have to
34:37be present. You have to be on your game.
34:40PHONE RINGS
34:41PHONE RINGS
34:46Emma?
34:48So, we've got to get back.
34:51Wobbly's about. Everybody's on standby. So, yeah, I don't...
34:56Everyone's going to get excited now.
35:00Emma will be absolutely traumatised, more than the dog.
35:03She's texting me and all that, trying to ring me and everything.
35:07It's a very, very stressful moment because I'm coming at it from, I completely want to protect Pippa. I'm frightened
35:14for her life. She has a puppy stuck in her for over an hour.
35:23Emma? Vic? Yeah, hi, love.
35:25Are you with Vinny? Yeah, we're trying to ring you, babe. We can't get through.
35:29Yeah, I just tried to call you back.
35:31Come on, then. What's the matter?
35:32What's happened, she's not having contractions, so now there's a sack.
35:37That's it. She's not far away, Em. Once Dad comes out...
35:40Hun, they can take an hour between each puppies, honestly, love. Don't panic, hun, please.
35:46We will come back now and help you out, all right?
35:49So I just want her contractions to start, so we can get this puppy out.
35:53And there's no contractions.
35:56No contractions, please.
35:57Where is she gone?
35:59No, there's nothing where she's been lingering.
36:03And she knows something was left.
36:05Just leave her and let her settle.
36:18Good girl.
36:21She knows what to do, look.
36:23You've got to get it out of the sack.
36:26Good girl.
36:28She knew to get it out of the sack.
36:31That was amazing.
36:33Instinct kicked in.
36:35She breaks the sack and licks the puppy.
36:38So she did everything right.
36:40She's a fantastic mother.
36:42At this point, I'm just relieved that we're getting going.
36:47Here we go. There's another one.
36:49Yeah, here it comes. Here it comes.
36:50Good girl. Good girl.
36:55Good girl.
36:57Make sure you guys, that's better.
36:58That's better. That's how it should be, Steve.
37:00That wasn't how the other one was.
37:02Number two is out.
37:05And I just wanted the puppies to come out healthy
37:08and for Pippa to be okay.
37:10It's on the teeth, look.
37:12Look at that.
37:14Puppy number three is like ten minutes behind.
37:18Do you have one coming now?
37:20It's out.
37:21Is it? Yeah, it's out.
37:23Is that one all right, hon?
37:24Yeah.
37:26I think this one might be a girl.
37:28Halfway there.
37:30I might get out of the park now.
37:32Are you funny?
37:34I never did do this again. Ever.
37:37She knows it's coming.
37:38She's trying to give it in.
37:41She's trying.
37:43What's this one?
37:45A little girl.
37:46We've got two girls.
37:49Puppy number four comes out and it is a breeze.
37:52She's going for it now.
37:54We're in the zone.
37:55Go on, Pipps.
37:56She's pushing, hon.
37:58I know.
38:00Here we go.
38:02Come in.
38:03Yeah.
38:06That's it. Well done, hon.
38:07I might have them kicking.
38:10Amazing, huh?
38:12Nature.
38:13Mate, nature.
38:16She'll do it now. Look, she's moved it out.
38:18Good girl.
38:19Brilliant.
38:20Well done, hon.
38:21So, puppy number five is out.
38:24However, puppy number six is a totally different situation.
38:31He's got a leg out, hon.
38:33I know.
38:34Come on.
38:35You've got to push him out, Pip.
38:36Come on.
38:41You don't want me to pull it?
38:43No.
38:43Okay.
38:45It's coming slowly.
38:47You want to get it out, rapido.
38:51I was terrified I was going to break the puppy's legs, or break the hips, or how hard do you
38:56pull, how it... I feel like it took forever.
39:00I think she knew.
39:03What?
39:05Well done, hon.
39:07I'm stillborn.
39:09Isn't it?
39:15When the puppy finally comes out, my fear was that because the sack had broken, is the puppy going to
39:21be stillborn?
39:23Cold?
39:24It's cold.
39:26I just remember looking at her and thinking, my goodness, what a bruiser.
39:31She was a big puppy.
39:33And I don't think she was breathing at all.
39:36Do you think it can breathe?
39:37It was trying to gasp, wasn't it?
39:41Yeah.
39:42This is a life that I thought, that can be saved.
39:48She can be saved.
39:53Don't you've got to suck them?
39:55You can...
39:56Go on, Pip.
39:57Just keep going now, yeah.
39:59Is it breathing?
40:01Yeah.
40:03Yeah, all right.
40:05Come on, see if she can get it, yeah.
40:11Do you mind me?
40:13This will be a little miracle.
40:16She knew she needed help on that one.
40:18That's why she kept coming and lying on me.
40:21Yeah.
40:23We had a stillborn.
40:26And Blondie brought it back to life, didn't you, hon?
40:29Little girl, we want to keep a little girl, so...
40:32You've got to bond with that one.
40:37What I'm really proud about with Emma is she's taken on this country life.
40:41She's not a country girl.
40:42Although she's from, you know, Somerset, she soon moved to London.
40:47And, you know, to bring a puppy back to life like that,
40:50she's gone the full hog.
40:53You did it together, hon.
40:54Well done.
40:56She's tired.
40:58That'll be it now.
40:59We won't have any more with her.
41:01No.
41:01That's distressing enough, isn't it?
41:04Absolutely narrowing.
41:05It is, yeah.
41:07Just a harrowing experience.
41:09You're just hoping that they're all going to be okay.
41:12Tough.
41:13Obviously, it's amazing and it's beautiful and it's incredible
41:16and it's magical and all these lovely things,
41:18but the other side of it is just how brutal it is.
41:26So, sadly, one puppy didn't make it.
41:28Puppy number one.
41:33But we do have five really healthy puppies.
41:38And that's...that's what we have to focus on.
41:42They're not all going to make it.
41:44That bit of love there,
41:46that was going to be taken up from that little one you lost,
41:49has got to be shared amongst the others, basically.
41:51That's what that is.
41:53I suppose I better go down to the chip shop now then, love.
41:59I look fondly on Emma when she's done this
42:01because she's out of her comfort zone.
42:04She's a feisty little Somerset girl
42:07that has got a roar like a lion.
42:09and I've said it before and she's taken this on
42:11and it won't beat her.
42:13Good girl.
42:15I can look at her with pride,
42:17with a lot of love and a lot of amazement
42:19and...and go, yeah.
42:22Fair play to her.
42:26I think she's a bloody good mum.
42:30Let the games commence, boys.
42:35There you go.
42:37After a banging summer...
42:40It's time to wrap things up.
42:42Whatever you're doing with your lorries and diggers,
42:44I need you out of here.
42:45No! No!
42:47That is the absolute nut.
42:50This is what I envisage...
42:52Got a short on the list, not keep adding to it.
42:56Crack that whip.
42:58Finish the manor.
42:59I'd lift that when I was younger.
43:01Yeah.
43:02Rally the troops.
43:03Go!
43:03And I need everybody down that bloody hill.
43:05Yes!
43:07You're a very handsome boy.
43:09Let's go, boys!
43:11And roll on to the next one.
43:13Rock and roll, baby!
43:19And speaking of the next one,
43:21Vinnie Jones and the Country continues and concludes tomorrow night at 9,
43:25brand new on Quest.
43:27But it's the start of a brand new series next night
43:29in Sam Lovegrove, Race Mechanic.
