00:00Oh, I know what it is. Owen, do you think it's a good idea?
00:03I do. I do. I went back and forth on this, and there are reasons to think it's not.
00:10I think that you look at his season last year, Hellebuck, and you see a down year.
00:14However, I want to be clear about what a down year for Conor Hellebuck means.
00:19A down year for Conor Hellebuck was better than all but two of Ukopeka-Lukunen's seasons in his entire career,
00:26based on goals saved above expected.
00:28Conor Hellebuck was at one goal saved above expected last year.
00:33That's bad for him and average for everybody else.
00:37So I understand why people have some concern about whether he's still the best goalie on the planet.
00:43He doesn't have to be the best goalie on the planet for this to make sense.
00:46He's got to be pretty good still.
00:47Best goalie on the Sabres is all we're really looking for.
00:49Right. And I think that you are absolutely going to get better, more consistent goaltending play
00:56year over year for the next four or five years than you would doing what you're doing right now.
01:02And the playoff struggles, all right, that's real.
01:06The last three playoff runs have been tough.
01:09Look at the four before that.
01:10They're unbelievable.
01:12And he played unbelievable in the Olympic gold medal game.
01:16You do not forget as a goaltender how to play under pressure.
01:20Conor Hellebuck knows how to play under pressure.
01:21I am not worried that he's got some goal, like, playoff, NHL playoff issue now.
01:28He's going to be fine.
01:29He's had a couple of rough runs.
01:31I don't have concern about that being a trend for him.
01:35Seriously, go look.
01:37I'll rattle him off right now.
01:39His last three playoff runs, 866 save percentage, 870 save percentage, 886 save percentage.
01:45That's pretty rotten.
01:47Like, it's not great.
01:47The four before that, 931, 904, 913, 922.
01:56That's really, really good.
01:58And I see no reason that he can't get to that place again.
02:04Or split the medal.
02:04Split the difference.
02:05You saw it in the Olympic gold medal game.
02:08He played, I mean, the greatest goaltending 60 minutes, 60-plus minutes,
02:13that I have seen from a goaltender in five years.
02:17In a while.
02:17It was incredible.
02:19That is not something that is fleeting and just leaves.
02:22He will be fine.
02:24And so I think it's a good idea.
02:26He's old.
02:27Sure.
02:27Goalies stay good when they're old.
02:3033 is not crazy old.
02:3133 is not crazy.
02:3237-year-old goalie.
02:3333 is 30 for a player.
02:35Yeah, okay.
02:35In that relationship.
02:37And 30, a guy like this, you could be good until 36.
02:42And what's that in the age I just did?
02:44Oh, 39?
02:45Like, okay, great.
02:46The contract isn't that big.
02:48Eight and a half million dollars is like six last year.
02:51And you're paying five for Lucanen now.
02:54It's...
