In 1974, six members of the DeFeo family were murdered inside their home at 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, New York.

A year later, George and Kathy Lutz moved in and claimed they fled the house after just 28 days because of terrifying paranormal activity.

In this episode of Reel Horror: The True Story Behind the Movies, we're digging into the DeFeo murders, the Lutz family's haunting claims, the Warrens' involvement, the infamous "Jodie" story, hoax allegations, financial disputes, legal mess, and how a real tragedy became a horror franchise worth millions.

Was Amityville genuinely haunted, a hoax, or something in between?
