In 1977, a family in Enfield, England claimed their home was under attack by a poltergeist. Furniture allegedly moved on its own, strange voices were recorded, and the case became an alleged haunting that attracted police, journalists, a rich ventriloquist, paranormal investigators, skeptics, and eventually the Warrens who were barely involved.

The real story was a mess. While it was barely anything like the real movie, the drama was reality tv show worthy.

In this episode of Reel Horror, we're digging into the real Enfield Poltergeist case that inspired the Conjuring 2 movie. We will unpack the evidence, the accusations of it being a hoax, the ghost hunters' drama between each other, how Ed and Lorraine Warren are highly dramatized in the movie, the foul-mouthed grandfather, and the surprising secret that one of the investigators hid that genuinely made me stop and say, "Excuse me?!"

So what do you think happened in Enfield? Hoax, poltergeist, misunderstood phenomenon, or something else entirely?
