Vanessa Ruck is the 'Girl on a Bike'
Transcript
00:00If you live for motorcycles, whether that's enduro, hard enduro, rally, track, road, adventuring, touring,
00:08then this channel is the place to hang out.
00:22I'm Vanessa Ruck, the girl on a bike, and my journey to being here today as a content creator started
00:26back in 2014.
00:28I was not a motorcycle rider, and I was unfortunately hit by a car while cycling home from work on
00:36my bicycle.
00:37Now, my recovery took seven years, including seven surgeries, and that entailed a reconstructed right shoulder and right hip,
00:45and I now live and manage chronic pain. It was a pretty brutal recovery.
00:50The physical side was one thing, relearning how to walk again, learning to live with pain.
00:54The mental side was actually far more dramatic, and during that recovery, motorcycles are something that came into my life.
01:03And the easiest thing to say is that it escalated.
01:06I fell in love with the energy, the passion, the adventure, the adrenaline, the thrill of life on two wheels,
01:13and it's just continued from there.
01:15I am now a full-time content creator.
01:17I would describe myself as a motorcycle rider, racer, adventurer.
01:22I'm also a TEDx speaker.
01:24I am an award-winning motivational speaker, a presenter, and everything really revolves around life on motorcycles.
01:32So the accident was a catalyst that really did transform my world,
01:37something that's definitely the worst thing that's ever happened to me.
01:41But through my journey in the aftermath, I found a way to adapt and keep fighting on.
01:48And that energy of adapting, getting up and making the most of every day, seizing life,
01:54getting out there and doing that thing, setting that goal,
01:57is a massive ethos behind the whole of my channel.
02:01So you can expect to see a new video coming out from me at 6pm every single Sunday.
02:07So set your alarms, set your reminders, and come and hang out on a Sunday evening.
02:13Now, there's probably four key areas of sorts of content that you're going to find on my channel.
02:19The first is very raw and honest reviews, whether that's motorcycles or riding gear or places.
02:26Being honest is at the forefront of everything I do.
02:31There's never going to be a paid-for, lied-for opinion.
02:35Honesty is my pledge to you.
02:38The second area is actionable learnings.
02:40I want my content to bring knowledge, bring experience.
02:44I've had the ability to ride and travel all over the world.
02:48I've now ridden in 35 countries.
02:50So helping you to improve your riding skills, doing the mechanics, knowing what tools to have,
02:56all those kinds of things is a massive area of knowledge transfer.
03:01We then have the adventure and the riding side of things.
03:04And I really am fortunate enough to have ridden in a lot of different areas.
03:08So I take you with me.
03:10Wherever it is that I'm going on a motorbike, I bring my cameras and I share that experience.
03:14And the goal is to help you see what opportunities are out there,
03:18where you could maybe go on an adventure,
03:20what add-ons you could put on your bucket list,
03:22and basically share the experience massively revolving around two wheels.
03:28Now, I also have done some rally car driving.
03:30And the final area of the sort of content scope for my channel is motherhood.
03:36I am now a mother.
03:38I have a beautiful little girl, Skylar.
03:40You can see her motorcycle, her first motorcycle, is behind me.
03:45And there's a whole other arm of life that comes along being a mother,
03:49being a female in a motorbike industry,
03:52and juggling all of those things.
03:54So there is a whole load of content and varied areas of content that come on my channel.
04:00I give you the challenge of trying to guess where I'm going to pop up next
04:04because I do seem to get myself in all kinds of random situations.
04:08My ethos is kind of just saying yes, getting up, going out there and doing it.
04:13And I really want to share some energy, some knowledge,
04:16some gratitude for life with you through my channel.
04:20So make sure you hit subscribe.
04:22Please share my channel, my videos with friends.
04:24You can become a channel member as well.
04:27But that, in a nutshell, is what to expect from me, Vanessa Ruck,
04:32the girl on the bike, here on my channel.
04:34Thank you so much for being here and being part of the community and the journey.
