00:20the chris taps porzingis news and even though stiney just kind of laid it out um i'm mindful
00:24that that was now running on close to 45 minutes ago so um want to let everybody know if you

00:30if you're just joining us two hours ago sham shirania tweets uh golden state has started
00:36exploring trade routes for chris taps porzingis who is now seriously contemplating his future in
00:42basketball as he deals with recurring symptoms from the autoimmune condition termed as pots so
00:49that's the report um it took till a short time ago for the warriors to respond with a statement
00:54where they said in response to today's media report regarding chris taps porzingis we are not
01:00going to comment on trade speculation or reports regarding his health related matter or future
01:06as noted last week conversations between the warriors chris taps and his representatives
01:11will remain private we are not anticipating chris taps being around the team in the immediate future
01:16will provide additional updates when available and appropriate and that brings us to now happy opening
01:23night everybody right i mean happy in quotes where your iron man who played all 82 last year he's got
01:30bilateral back soreness off a contract and you know goo came out hot at like 10.05 or 10.06
01:36and he was
01:37frustrated at about 110 decibels over the fact that pods wouldn't play and then we already knew
01:43porzingis wouldn't play and steph is dealing with his knee issue and they've got three games in four nights
01:48which means that either he or al or both they won't play in all of them so it's hard to
01:55look at the
01:55opening of this season and think yeah let's go out there and let's go four and oh because you've got
02:01older guys and you've got the unicorn who won't play and you've got your newly minted 23 year old
02:07off guard who isn't playing tonight and so it feels a little bit like kind of a bummer to start
02:12it's a little
02:13bit of a bummer but that can go away let's just go out and beat the lakers and everybody will
02:17be like
02:17whoo you know like steph could go for 45 tonight i don't know what's about to happen next like i'm
02:22always excited to see the warriors play and so um i think for a lot of us this it's not
02:30on us but like
02:31the perspective that you bring to a basketball game or a season is is up to you and if you
02:38remain
02:38hell-bent that the warriors compete for championships and continue to push every single
02:44poker chip into the middle of the table every single game that steph curry wears a uniform if
02:50you want to do that do that i don't think that's smart i don't think that makes any sense in
02:54fact i
02:55could easily argue that quote everything for steph in a way is what they're doing um but i have
03:01questions there's no doubt i have questions do you remember may 15th do you remember what happened on
03:07may 15th may 15th yeah it was a big day around these parts i mean they were already out of
03:13the
03:13playoffs and i think the giants had lost their 13th straight um i don't remember no that was um
03:19basically when the warriors met the press after announcing that steve kerr was going to be extended
03:30and would continue to coach the golden state warriors okay and that was mike steve and joe
03:36well that was in the press conference right and then steve of course came on with us after the
03:42press conference i want to play one of the things he said to us back on may 15th after
03:49that return was announced we've got to add some more you know lively capable bodies guys who can
03:56do what brandon wajemski did this year play all 82 games um it's a very difficult thing to do these
04:02days
04:02so um you know you you go into an off season and you have some ideas and some thoughts and
04:08ultimately we have to put together the best roster that we can but we've got to have enough players who
04:14are available night after night to to develop that continuity was fascinated by it then and i am even
04:19more fascinated by it now and steve will be with us tomorrow and this will probably be among the things
04:26that we ask had this question quite frankly for a while uh mike dunleavy and everybody with the
04:33organization have spoken to what they did this off season and why however i still want to know what
04:40happened what happened from that moment when steve kerr like all dunleavy has wanted to talk about that
04:47day was turnovers and what steve kerr wanted to talk about was availability this roster needs to have
04:54more availability it needs more use it needs more people as he said who will do what pods did
05:02and then what they went out and executed over the summer um sure they drafted a player yaxo lendenborg
05:09sure they brought in um a couple of um fringe ish free agents i actually really like brandon williams
05:16george niang um he's got a lengthy injury history but what did they do they've got steph curry who
05:24um limped off the floor already once this year and the season hasn't even started but he's playing
05:29tonight you've got al horford on the other side of 40 you decided that talent was more important than
05:36for sure availability so you go after chris taps porzingis who has exactly what everyone was worried
05:43about happened so what happened from may 15th when they left us with we need more availability
05:52to then marching into the summer and essentially bringing back all of the people with all of the
05:59questions well all the questions were like jimmy butler was signed and draymond green was signed and
06:04so like chris taps you re-signed him based on what i believe was kind of a two-way go
06:10where you re-signed
06:11him thinking you know what if he plays a lot at 19.5 with a three million dollar option for
06:17the next
06:17year that actually is it's a great deal for us if he plays and if not well it becomes tradable
06:22and
06:23the fact that the shams shirania uh report comes out today that you know they're already open to
06:28trading him and i don't even know if that's true but that tells me that that contract becomes something
06:33that is movable and like moses moody you already were sunk in on so beyond that like i don't even
06:40know
06:40what they were supposed to do remember the moment they signed the chris taps contract
06:46it was immediately tradable right the moment they signed it that is not always true with most nba
06:52contracts and i don't think that it's as tradable now as it will be in january or february maybe not
06:58maybe it never was this off season i don't think they were ever going to trade him this summer you're
07:02not going to do it and then you know what i mean uh you're not going to chew it and
07:06do it uh as they say
07:07right away but um maybe this thing was built to be traded or to expire from the beginning i guess
07:17that's my question if you're if on may 15th we need more availability and granny maybe you can look
07:23up for us what day was it that they signed chris taps because my memory serves me that was right
07:29before the actual open of free agency uh which is always around july 4th june 30th june 30th there you
07:37go so from may 15th we need more availability on june 30th we have signed chris stops porzingis
07:45who is a poster for the opposite of availability unavailability and again i'm going to go to one
07:53of my standbys the warriors despite what so many people on radio programs often say they're not dumb
08:01these are not stupid people who just have their head in the sand and have no clue what they're
08:09doing they can make mistakes and maybe they did here but i i i don't know that as i sit
08:16here today i
08:16believe that the warriors really truly thought rick celebrini waved a wand and chris stops is ready
08:25for 68 games i don't buy it i don't buy that i don't either but it was a risk and
08:33in that moment
08:34like you already had draymond green who opted out and so you're thinking okay we'll let draymond green
08:39opt out and we'll get chris stops in for 19 million and we'll think that okay that's a workable tradable
08:46number and draymond's opted out can we get lebron james in here and even if chris stops doesn't work
08:51out maybe we have lebron and draymond at a lesser number and then you go through a month and then
08:57that didn't work out and so now you bring back draymond and this is what you have
