Jeremy White is joined by Buffalo Sabres beat reporter Paul Hamilton to break down the Sabres 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. They start with the hot topic of the day, the poor play from the goaltenders, but Paul pushes back and explains why he doesn’t think the goaltending is the biggest issue for the Sabres right now. The guys then discuss the other issues including special teams, and finishing prowess.

00:00Thursday, everybody. Joe's off the rest of this week. It's bye week. He's off today, tomorrow. I'm off the beginning
00:05of next week, and we'll see how the Bills get their time away. See what the Patriots do tonight. Patriots
00:12in Chicago to take on the Bears, which feels like a big one. The Bills will also play the Bears.
00:17So, you know, get these crossover games to see what New England does, see what the Bills do, and the
00:22bye week. Get healthy.
00:24Maybe figure something out on the defensive side. Anyway, we'll get to Paul Hamilton here on the Western Hotline to
00:31talk Sabres in a moment. They lose 3-1, and, you know, the story of the game is the story
00:37of the season a little bit. They get down two. They don't mount a comeback this time. That's the thing.
00:43Like, they've mounted comebacks from down two many times, and this time they fall short, giving up that third goal.
00:49They lose 3-1, and Philadelphia walks out with the victory.
00:53Paul Hamilton, join us. His appearance brought to you by Raylax Honda. Raylax, we got this. Good morning, Paul.
00:58Good morning, guys. How are you?
01:00Good, Paul. I know the Sabres scored one goal last night, and I want to get to that, but there's
01:06this iconic moment almost. Rob on the broadcast of the third goal, the one that goes in, he lets out
01:13an ugh, and I feel like the Sabres as a team did that as well.
01:17So, like, this might not be a game where Lucanen is the biggest problem, but part of the problem, part
01:24of the story of the season is not getting maybe big saves at big times, and that felt like one
01:29that will be remembered quite a bit.
01:32Yeah, there was that goal, definitely. That's a goal that has to be stopped. There's no question about it.
01:37He did make some big saves yesterday also when the game was at 2-0, that held the score at
01:452-0, but they got it to 2-1, and that one definitely hurt.
01:51But that was a puck that needs to be stopped, and it wasn't.
01:57I'm still going to sit here and tell you, goaltending is not their number one problem this year.
02:05With the types of chances that they give up, I don't care who's in net.
02:09You know, a lot of those goals are going in, and it's not like you sit there every single night
02:16and say, well, he'd want that one back.
02:19But, you know, recently, I would say part of the problem was he was okay.
02:29It wasn't like, oh, you'd want that one back, but, yeah, you'd want a big save there.
02:34You'd say to yourself, well, that's not an easy save, but you want a big save there.
02:38And that was starting to come, and probably, well, since the Florida game, actually, when he was getting it, that
02:47was starting to come.
02:47But this team is not playing anywhere near like they did last year defensively as far as what they're giving
02:56up
02:56and the types of chances that they're giving up.
03:00And, you know, I guess that's what I sit there and say to myself, it's like some of the time,
03:07and with him, this guy can't win.
03:10Every single puck that goes in and that is his fault.
03:12Every game, every loss is his fault.
03:17And, you know, that's just not true.
03:20It's simply not true.
03:22They've had trouble scoring goals all year.
03:24They're one of the worst teams in the National Hockey League at missing the net.
03:28They're one of the worst teams in the National Hockey League at hitting the post.
03:33I mean, they just, they don't give themselves a chance to even have the lead.
03:40I mean, how much have they had the lead all year where they have had chances to score, but they
03:49don't convert,
03:50and then finally there's the puck in the net, whether it's his fault or not his fault.
03:55In this town, it's always his fault, no matter what.
03:59Every game is his fault, and that's part of the problem.
04:04He's done in this town.
04:05I mean, and he was done before this season even started,
04:09because people want somebody else who, by the way, had a season last year that was worse than Lukanen's by
04:16the numbers.
04:18And so it doesn't matter what he does at all.
04:22He is basically finished in this town, and that's a problem.
04:27So, I mean, it's, he's not going to get another chance.
04:33People don't want him in net, and every single game is his fault.
04:37Every goal is his fault, and it doesn't matter if it's a wide-open tap-in or whatever.
04:43He's still expected to make the save, because the guy in Winnipeg would have made the save,
04:47and the guy in Winnipeg would have 10 shutouts right now, and they would be 10-0.
04:52So, I mean, Paul, you can strawman this really all you want, or we can talk about it seriously, about
04:57the idea.
04:58I am talking about it seriously.
04:59You're not talking about it seriously.
05:00I am absolutely talking about it seriously.
05:02You're saying the Winnipeg goalie would be 10-0 with 10 shutouts.
05:05That's what people in this town think.
05:06No, that's not what people in this town think.
05:07Yeah, it is what people in this town think.
05:08Don't, don't.
05:09And that's the way you present it, and that's the way a lot of people present it.
05:12No, it's not.
05:13Yeah, it is.
05:13I'm not a person on Twitter that you're arguing with.
05:15I'm a person that is somewhat lukewarm on the idea, as I have been for multiple months,
05:21but want the Sabres to do something to try and get better results.
05:25And I can't look away from the fact that at 5-on-5, their save percentage is 32nd in the
05:29league.
05:30Yeah, I know it is.
05:31Can I ask for better goaltending at all, or is it not allowed?
05:34But look at the types of chances they give up.
05:38Let's talk about the third goal.
05:40The third goal is not even, is it a high danger chance even?
05:43The third goal should not have gone in, and I've already said that.
05:45I've said that how many times already.
05:47That should not have gone in.
05:50But every single goal that goes in on this guy is not his fault.
05:55And that's been the problem.
05:57Is the only one that is his fault the one that's obviously bad?
06:00Like, is the standard, they must stop it with their defense,
06:03or it bounces in like game two against Boston and there's no in between?
06:08Like, I never get to ask for saves because it has to go directly through him.
06:14He's got to be asleep at the wheel.
06:15Those are the only bad goals.
06:17Can't there just be goals where, and Dan Vladar made a bunch of these saves last night
06:21and did the job, right?
06:22Can I ever just ask for adequate goaltending?
06:25You could ask on the overtime goal against Montreal.
06:28It is a breakaway.
06:29Now, I understand it's a breakaway against one of the best scorers in the league,
06:33but it is a breakaway where you could ask for a big save there.
06:37It's not an easy save, but you could ask for a big save there.
06:40You know, I would listen to that totally.
06:44You know, it's not an easy one, but is he set up in the net correctly?
06:51Was he on his angle correctly, or is that a save where you could say, you know what,
06:55I could use a big save there?
06:56I'm not saying the guy's perfect by any stretch of the imagination.
07:02I'm saying, yes, he could be better at times, but, I mean, he gets absolutely rifled
07:09almost every single puck that's in the net, and I just don't think it's right.
07:15I agree with that.
07:17I agree with that, and we've talked about whether or not, you know, he has to be done
07:20here because there's too much pressure on him or too much of a microscope on him.
07:24Where it starts to become, Paul, a problem beyond that is, does the team get affected
07:29by that?
07:30Do you see that at all?
07:31That when that third goal goes in, the team died.
07:35The game ended because all of a sudden, you want to talk about it as momentum, whatever,
07:39but people that maybe read into whether or not they believe in their goaltender, and,
07:44you know, that's a thing in hockey.
07:46They see what happens after that goal, and I don't think it's that far of a leap to someone,
07:50whether it's right or wrong, to say it looked like that took all the air out of them.
07:55Yeah, it did, and I think it also takes the air out of them.
07:58When they can't score goals, they never have the lead.
08:02They're one of the worst teams, if not the worst team in the league,
08:05at how long they've been ahead in a game this season, or I think they're in the bottom two.
08:12I don't know if they're the worst.
08:13I think they're the second worst when it comes to that, is how long they've had a lead in the
08:18season,
08:20and they get these golden opportunities, and they just, part of the reason that the other goalie
08:27is making a, quote, big save is because they're making it look like he's making big saves.
08:31I mean, they just don't, they get the opportunities to try to get a lead.
08:36I mean, and play with the lead for a little while.
08:39See what that does for you.
08:41See if that helps your confidence a little bit.
08:43Right.
08:44Right.
08:44Yeah, they fall behind in all these games.
08:46Like, they get down one or two consistently.
08:49It was another game last night.
08:50It looked like that.
08:52Paul, all right, the play in front of Lukanen.
08:54Why can't they score?
08:56You know, they do get a lot of chances, guys squeezing the sticks,
08:59guys in shuffled up lines, maybe.
09:02Like, the tuck factor is another piece here.
09:05They'll play Alex Tuck on Saturday.
09:07You don't even necessarily have to say they should have paid Alex Tuck.
09:09But what's happened is, maybe a lot of the lines that you felt that you had pairings consistently,
09:14they're searching for some chemistry.
09:16Guys like Josh Doan.
09:17Like, where does he ultimately belong?
09:19Where does Josh Norris belong?
09:20Jason Zucker comes back.
09:22I thought he looked pretty good.
09:23It'll be nice to see him work himself in.
09:25But what is happening with the group of forwards they've got, and why they can't score?
09:29They're just not – I mean, look at Doan.
09:32He's not scoring.
09:33Look at Benson.
09:33Benson has hit the post now two games in a row coming in shorthanded.
09:39He's not scoring the way he is.
09:41Helen Euse is not scoring.
09:43Auslin is – he's at least helping set up that subject.
09:47I'm not really going to jump on him.
09:50You know, I've liked Auslin's game for the most part as long as it's not on the power play.
09:55The penalty kill is horrendous.
09:57They have given up a power play goal in every game but one.
10:01And that's where Alex Tuck really – I mean, you let one of the premier penalty killers in the NHL
10:07get away,
10:08who also scores between 30 and 35 goals per season.
10:12So, to me, that's more of a problem than goaltending is as far as they didn't really do anything to
10:21help themselves when Alex Tuck was leaving.
10:25And it seemed like they had a pretty good idea that he probably wasn't going to sign because they weren't
10:32going to give him what he wanted,
10:34whether it was eight years, whether it was – they just weren't going to.
10:38And they knew that.
10:39And I don't know if they knew for sure that he wasn't going to maybe settle for something a little
10:45bit less.
10:47But he wasn't going to.
10:49It was either that or I'll find somebody else who will give me that.
10:53But you've lost a premier penalty killer there.
10:56You've lost a guy who can put the puck in the net.
10:59But you've lost a little bit of a leader there.
11:02And guys who were supposed to be – well, we've got the guys.
11:07Don't worry about it.
11:08We've got the guys that can pick up the slack.
11:11Kulik's not scoring.
11:13Doan's not scoring.
11:14We can just go right down the line except for Quinn.
11:17Quinn is scoring.
11:18Thompson is scoring.
11:21But they've got too many guys who are sitting there with goose eggs who aren't putting the puck in the
11:25net at all.
11:26Norris, McLeod.
11:29Krebs.
11:30You know, they just keep going on down the line.
11:35And, you know, so they're one of the worst scoring teams around.
11:40And the thing that really annoyed me last night, you got your best power play guy coming back.
11:47Do you know how long he played on the power play last night?
11:50Was it 17 seconds?
11:5227.
11:52Okay.
11:53He played 27 seconds of power play yesterday and scored a goal.
11:58In those 27 seconds.
12:00Because he's at the net and, you know, the puck goes in off him.
12:04And that's what the thing – when you're at the net.
12:06Well, you can get the, quote, lucky goal because you're there to receive the lucky goal.
12:13And it goes in off him.
12:14But how do you take your best power play guy who now has 22 goals in two seasons in one
12:20game on the power play.
12:22Your next guy has 14.
12:24Taige Thompson in the last two years.
12:27How do you play him for 27 seconds on the power play?
12:3127 seconds.
12:33And he scored a goal in those 27 seconds.
12:35And the only reason he was out there is because they were changing.
12:39He had just gotten out there because two guys off the number one unit had changed, Thompson and Benson.
12:45And he had just gotten out there.
12:47That's the only reason he got 27 seconds of power play time.
12:50Paul Hamilton joining us on the Sabres and eye on the blue and gold.
12:55The eye on the blue and gold is brought to you by Great Lakes Building Systems.
12:58We keep an eye on your business so you don't have to.
13:00Great Lakes Building Systems, our business is protecting your business.
13:03Paul, back to goaltending, not necessarily Lukanen.
13:06What is the timeline?
13:07What do you think they'll do with the rotation when the guys are available?
13:11Has Ellis basically made himself not available because they're so disappointed in his play?
13:16Lion was getting close but had a setback.
13:18They're about to hit the road for a little while.
13:20What do you think it ultimately looks like in the next couple of days?
13:23I think they went away from the rotation because, you know, Lukanen was improving somewhat.
13:32They were winning the hockey games.
13:34I mean, they hadn't lost in regulation in those four games.
13:37It started in the Florida game.
13:39And then he went in and they picked up six of eight points in those four games.
13:47That, you know, with the one he started going in.
13:50So, I think it was more that they thought he maybe was starting to play better.
13:55And he was starting to make some big saves at big times that you were talking about you weren't getting
14:02before.
14:03You were getting, eh.
14:05You know, it's all right.
14:06But, you know, again, you get the breakaway in an overtime game.
14:11He'd like a big save there.
14:13It's not easy.
14:14But you'd like one there.
14:16And it seemed like that was starting to come for him a little bit that he was making some bigger
14:22saves for him.
14:23So, I think Lindy Ruff decided, all right, let's just keep rolling with it.
14:26He's winning.
14:28I like that particular game.
14:30Let's play another one.
14:31All right.
14:31I like that particular game.
14:33Let's play another one.
14:35Now, he might not like that third goal last night.
14:38And maybe you'll see Ellis in the next game.
14:41Now, there's plenty of time in between that if he wanted to play Lucan and he can.
14:46It's not like he's going to be tired after another two days off.
14:49You have one game between Saturday and Saturday.
14:52So, he's not being overplayed here right now.
14:55But he might, just like he decided with Ellis, that two went through him.
15:00And he said, that's it.
15:02Two went through him.
15:03Let's switch it.
15:04That was against Florida.
15:05And they wound up winning that hockey game.
15:08But that's not a sustainable way to play hockey.
15:11They kept doing it.
15:12I understand that.
15:14But, you know, and they were 3-0-2 while they were trying to come back from two goals down
15:19and winning.
15:20But we all know that's not sustainable.
15:22That's not going to keep going.
15:24And it came back and bit them finally yesterday where it didn't keep going for them.
15:29You just can't keep winning hockey games in that type of fashion.
15:34Paul Hamilton.
15:35Next up, Washington.
15:36They'll play Alex Tuck and the Capitals on Saturday.
15:40And we'll see where it goes from there.
15:42Thanks, Paul.
15:43Yep, take care.
15:44Paul Hamilton.
15:44His appearance brought to you by Ralex Honda.
15:47Ralex, we got this.
15:49Jeremy and Joe.
15:50Joe's out today.
15:52What are you supposed to do?
15:55I certainly don't think that Connor Halibut would make the Sabres 10-0 with 10 shutouts.
16:00I certainly don't think that.
16:01I do think that this whole thing sounds like, to me, this is, you know, sometimes some sports have similar
16:10tracks.
16:11This sounds like we're arguing about a young quarterback and the line is bad.
16:16He doesn't have a chance back there.
16:18The line is bad.
16:19I go, all right, I'm watching and this is still not good.
16:22I don't feel like I'm seeing a player that's good and I got to wait.
16:26How long am I going to wait to find out?
16:27Should I do something else or not?
16:30Well, he doesn't have a chance.
16:31All right.
16:33I guess.
16:35It's either they're all tappins.
16:36We're going to treat it like they're all tappins or it's the second bouncing goal.
16:40There's nothing in between.
16:41That's why I like asking Owen.
16:43What do you think?
16:43Should I make that?
16:44I don't know anything about stopping pucks.
16:47I would literally ask every single.
16:48I would.
16:49If we need to make an Owen bot, a little goalie thing like this, and he's this big, and when
16:55a goal goes in, you hit it on the top of the head and he's like, yeah, you can be
16:58mad
16:58at that one.
16:59You can be mad at that one.
17:00Hit it on the top of the head.
17:01That's not his fault.
17:02All right.
17:03I'll just make a direct line.
17:05It's just it.
17:05Anybody would just tap it and then I'll tell you what happened.
17:07I'll sign up for a text club.
17:09Yes.
17:09There we go.
17:09The goal goes in.
17:10Hold on a second.
17:11Owen says, good goal.
17:13All right.
17:13That's fine.
17:14Don't be mad at him.
17:15It's fine.
17:15That'll happen.
17:16Maybe that's a good idea.
17:18Seriously, just tell me if I'm allowed to be upset at a goal.
17:21Right.
17:22Can I be upset at being 32nd in save percentage at five on five when a game is within a
17:28goal?
17:28How many teams are there?
17:3132.
17:3232?
17:33Yeah.
17:34Now wait.
17:35Save percentage might mean that they are all tap-ins.
17:37Maybe they are.
17:39I don't know, man.
17:39I just want the hockey team to be good.
17:42Me too.
17:43And I watch them fall behind every night two to nothing.
17:46And the whole formula for winning is coming from behind two to nothing to win games, or
17:51at least force overtime.
17:52And last night, they were on their way to doing it, and they gave up a goal.
17:56You can even make the case that it's the plan.
17:58Let's get down two.
18:00Not a good plan.
18:01Then we'll pull it out of the fire.
18:03Oh, we can't do that tonight, because the team that is 32nd in save percentage at five
18:11on five within a goal, and 31st in all scenarios, you want to all go, 31st, five on five.
18:18It's October 22nd.
18:20I'm not supposed to be this worked up about the Sabres.
18:23No, but we are.
18:25Here we are.
18:25Everybody is.
18:26It's not just you.
18:27It's all dumb.
18:28It's me.
18:28It's everybody.
18:30I got Bill spitting on people, which I don't know.
18:33Maybe Sam Franklin didn't do it.
18:34I don't know.
18:35Yeah.
18:35I can't see.
18:36The L-22 doesn't get zoomed in that much.
18:38There is an example, I think, in last night's game of what I think many people would dismiss
18:44as, like, what is he supposed to do on that goal?
18:47The second goal is that one that Zegers taps out of the air and hits into the net, right?
18:54Ah, what are you going to do?
18:55Guys open in front, rebound, play, guy bats it out of the air, can't really blame the
19:00guy.
19:01Yeah, you can, because the rebound was awful, because it was a straight-up shot that he bounced
19:07straight up into the air right to a flyer.
19:11That is not bad defense by the Sabres.
19:14Sure, it'd be great if somebody was on that guy's hip pocket, but that defenseman that's
19:18supposed to be on that guy's hip pocket is probably seeing the shot go blocker side and
19:21getting ready to go retrieve the puck out of the corner, because that's where it's supposed
19:24to go.
19:25And it doesn't, and it goes right to Zegers, and it goes in the net, and it doesn't look
19:30like an egregious play, but it's bad.
19:33It's bad process.
19:34It's bad goaltending.
19:35We don't get goalie coaches on broadcasts.
19:38I can get a rules analyst on a broadcast, but I can't get someone to say, that puck needs
19:42to go into the corner.
19:43Right.
19:44And it absolutely needed to go in the corner.
19:46That is a quarter of an inch movement on the blocker that makes it change from into the
19:53corner, out of play even, whistle, D-zone face-off, reset, versus grade A scoring chance,
20:00wide open net for a player who is as skilled as anybody at doing that kind of thing in Zegers.
20:06That is poor goaltending.
20:08It is.
20:09And then the third goal happens, and somebody want to tell me that's not?
20:15It's, and I get what Paul's saying, where they are playing bad defense in front of him.
20:20How many times have we come on the air and said, that goal shouldn't have gone in?
20:25It were 10 games into the year, and that's happened like five times, and he hasn't played
20:29all the games.
20:31At some point, like, it, well, come on.
20:35I mean, whether, maybe Lyon can save them for a little bit of time here, but Ellis is
20:39the same.
20:39Like, Ellis, he got pulled.
20:41Yeah.
20:41Ellis got shown the door, and I don't know when he's coming back.
20:44Wow.
20:46803-0550.
20:47I am not, by the way, over here, like, worried what Devin Levi is doing.
20:51No.
20:52But it is happening.
20:54Yes, it is.
20:54And if this is the kind of thing that's driving you nuts, it is happening.
20:59That was, that was over.
21:01I've said, I said this on Middays.
21:02We got a, or Sal brought it up yesterday, even.
21:05And, like, that, that thing with Levi, that was not the Sabres deciding to move on.
21:09It was partially that.
21:11But I think it was, this relationship is over.
21:13Levi and the Sabres was not going to work.
21:16And so I think they kind of had to do that.
21:18So anybody that wants to, you know, they chose the wrong guy.
21:20Like, maybe they chose the wrong guy when they claimed Ellis, but they didn't have, I
21:25don't think, much of a choice this offseason about what to do with him.
21:28I think he was done here.
21:29It wasn't going to happen.
21:30He was, they were mad at him.
21:32He was mad at them, and it was done.
21:34So, like, that, I'm not regretting that trade at all.
21:38Like, it's, obviously, it would be probably good to have him right now.
21:42Yeah.
21:42But I don't think it was ever going to work.
21:458-0-3-0-5-50.
21:47Dan in Tonawanda.
21:48Hey, Dan.
21:49Oh, awesome.
21:50Thanks for letting me on, guys.
21:51It's a great conversation this morning on the way to work.
21:53So I want to touch base real quick.
21:55First of all, Owen, I spoke the other day about the trade for Hellebuck.
21:58I'm all in, if it's Mirka in a second, all day, every day, whatever.
22:03And McLeod, all day, every day.
22:05That said, I think losing Tuck is a massive loss.
22:08The fact that Tuck didn't want to resign here, we just have to accept that.
22:11And that's, you know, maybe something personal in his family life.
22:14It's none of our business.
22:15You know, that's business.
22:17But UPL's goaltending, to me, there's so many parts of his game that I just can't understand.
22:22You said it.
22:22Five on five.
22:23How many times do you see the puck ring around?
22:25That goalie's supposed to go back there and stop that puck so our defensemen can gather it.
22:30Now, if it's some kind of design, it's not working.
22:32Okay?
22:32It's not working.
22:33Because how many times do we end up with, you know, losing the puck battle, the puck comes back in
22:37front of the net.
22:38And as far as his rebounds, he's horrendous.
22:40It's like he's Hank Aaron, right?
22:42Either he's a home run hitter or he's Bill Buckner and the puck's rolling through the, you know, in the
22:47right field, right?
22:47You know, in the ninth inning against the Mets in 86.
22:51So, that's who he is.
22:52And I agree.
22:53All this pressure is definitely adding to the play.
22:57And the Sabres look lost in space.
22:59They've never had the lead.
23:00So, there's something missing.
23:02Hopefully, they can gather it on the road.
23:03They're about to grind out some road games.
23:05We're going to find out the facts of life where this team is real quick.
23:08So, thanks for letting me speak.
23:10And, you know, go Sabres.
23:12Thanks, Dan.
23:14803-0550 to join us.
23:15Thanks, Dan, for the phone call.
23:19It's Thursday.
23:20Yeah.
23:20Bye week.
23:22Perfect time for us to totally laser focus on the Sabres.
23:25That's the thing.
23:26And not only, like, this game, but they're also, like, in this weird time where they're not playing a lot.
23:32Like, they don't play until Saturday, right?
23:33Yeah.
23:34Like, I need another game, like, tomorrow to make me feel better.
23:37And I'm not going to get it until the next day.
23:39Well, maybe, and this is a point about Lucanen.
23:41Last year, they found their stride when they had two goalies to alternate.
23:46And right now, they don't have that.
23:47That's definitely right.
23:48They don't feel like they have that.
23:49So, maybe this is just the proof that whether it's getting your mind right or getting into that flow that
23:55they got into.
23:55So, they'll play Saturday against the Capitals.
23:58Then they go out west and play on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.
24:02Like, they'll have, they have a west coast trip with no back-to-backs.
24:06And they come back home and it's, you know, five days off and they play on Wednesday.
24:10So, there'll be five days or five games in, like, a good number of days.
24:16They got lots of time in between.
24:18I'm looking at just, like, how many, five games in, I can't do the math.
24:23I don't care.
24:25Whatever.
24:25No, it's a very strange schedule.
24:27Two days off, one day off, game, one day off, game, and then three days off, game.
24:32So, no back-to-backs.
24:34There would be a, if there is a back-to-back, there would be an obvious opportunity to just get
24:39Lucan in a rest, get his mind right.
24:41Or if you had Lyon and Lucan in like you did last year, maybe that'll fix all this.
24:46Maybe that really was a secret sauce that they got with those two and they're going to stick with what
24:51their plan was.
24:52They're just trying to get through this time when Lyon has been unavailable.
24:56And maybe that's close.
24:58Yeah.
24:59But I don't think he's skated yet after his setback, so I don't know how close that really is.
25:05803-0550.
25:07A lot of the comments, I, here's one, Eric, I get that UPL's been bad, but overpaying for an aging
25:12goalie is just a Band-Aid.
25:13A true 1C would do more, but from where?
25:16If you could even get a 1C, unfortunately the Sabres have a bit of a long track record of not
25:20keeping them around.
25:20Like, that's the other thing.
25:22I don't want this.
25:23I want the perfect move.
25:25What is it?
25:26Where is it coming from?
25:27Yeah.
25:28I, you could absolutely convince me there are 70 players in the NHL they would rather have than Connor Hellebuck.
25:35But I, how many of them can you get?
25:38So, there's the move you want to make and the move that you can make, right?
25:41Yep.
25:42Who did I, well, whatever.
25:44We'll get some more phone calls if you want.
25:45Carl Jones on the Bills, coming up 8 o'clock, bi-week talk on how to fix this secondary, which
25:51has shown, you know, some good, a lot of tough spots.
25:55But it's bad, but it's bad, and we want it to get better.
25:57And that's what happens in sports.
25:58Something is bad, you sometimes want it to get better, and sometimes it does.
26:01Jeremy and Joe on WGR.
