00:00Gary Jones yesterday at the owner's meeting said, yep, I would buy some more.
00:04Would you sell? No, quickly, unless it was a Micah-type deal.
00:09You went and just made all the trades?
00:11I did make all the trades, where I found all the trade targets.
00:14So if he's talking about, hey, we'd be interested, just got to see what's out there on the market,
00:19got to figure out what might be available, and we keep throwing out the same names,
00:23basically, whenever we talk about trades.
00:25We're talking about Max Crosby, we're talking about Josh Sweat.
00:28A few people will bring up Kayvon Thibodeau or Khalil Mack.
00:31It's all the same older edge rushers that you're thinking about.
00:35But I was thinking, they could stand to really get better just about everywhere,
00:39even if it's just depth or whatever else.
00:42You never want to pass up a good opportunity when it's presented to you.
00:46So I went and looked over at every position in the NFL,
00:49and I was trying to see who do we know is on the block
00:52and who would make sense if they were on the trading block,
00:55and say, all right, that's a player at this position that Dallas can go talk about.
01:00So we can go down the line and look at every position.
01:02You want to start on the offensive side or defensive side?
01:06Let's start on the defensive side.
01:08All right, defensive side.
01:09We're going to work front, back.
01:11We're not top down like Christian Parker.
01:13We're starting in the trenches, and we're moving backwards.
01:16Defensive line.
01:16And this is somebody we brought up the other day, A'shaun Robinson from Tampa Bay.
01:20If you want to really, like, make your defensive front stout,
01:24and they've played better in the last couple weeks in terms of providing a little bit more stability there,
01:29which is a baseline expectation for what you're spending on a lot of that group.
01:34But A'shaun Robinson, he's somebody who would cost about $2.5 million on your cap for the rest of this
01:39year,
01:40but is a really, really talented player and is somebody who, as a run defender, is really, really strong.
01:46And Tampa Bay, obviously, has had their issues.
01:48So if Tampa looks to get in the selling mode, that might be worth it.
01:52Edge rusher.
01:53So this is where we always talk about Max Crosby and Sweat and all these other names that we've discussed.
01:58Somebody we don't talk about, really, and somebody who – there's been reports that he is on the block.
02:04And if you look at –
02:05A'shaun Robinson's 31.
02:07He's been in the league for a while now.
02:08He got in the league two years ago.
02:10Will McDonald from the Jets.
02:13So Will McDonald –
02:14I don't want any more Jets.
02:15Will McDonald is a good player.
02:16He was a first-round pick in 2023, 15th overall.
02:20I believe they picked up his fifth-year option.
02:21So he has the rest of this year, and then he's got his fifth-year option next year.
02:25But he's somebody who had double-digit sacks his second season.
02:27He had eight sacks last year.
02:29His playing time has, like, fallen off.
02:32And Aaron Glenn is not putting him out there nearly as consistently anymore.
02:36In fact, if you look over the last few years,
02:38he was 66% of the snaps in 24, 66% of the snaps in 25.
02:42This year they played him 47% of the snaps.
02:45His workload has just significantly deteriorated.
02:48And they're not – there's been chatter that he's somebody who the Jets could look to trade.
02:52You add him, that's another million for the rest of the season.
02:54But that's somebody who can get after the quarterback a little bit.
02:58Linebacker.
02:59Which – where does linebacker stand right now in terms of your comfort level for this football team?
03:03Not good.
03:04No, I know it's not good.
03:05Would that be the number one on the defense right now that's the most concerning now that you've got Porter?
03:10Defensive end, pass rush.
03:12Okay.
03:12Then linebacker.
03:13Okay.
03:14Like, I'm at a neutral nothing point with DeMarvy on Overshown.
03:21I have zero excitement.
03:23Yeah, you – no more expectations.
03:25What's higher?
03:25Your expectations or your excitement?
03:28My excitement.
03:29Aren't they tied together?
03:30I mean, yeah, kind of.
03:32Kind of.
03:32Like, I'm a little bit intrigued to see as athleticism.
03:35That's it.
03:37Or what's left of it.
03:38Or what's left of it.
03:38Or what's left of it.
03:39That is it.
03:40Like, DeMarvy on Overshown coming – I'm way more excited for Kobe Durant to come back than DeMarvy on Overshown.
03:47So –
03:48And that hurts to say.
03:49Yeah.
03:50That hurt my two guys.
03:51My two personalities.
03:52I've had to turn on this year with Jake Ferguson and DeMarvy on Overshown.
03:59And Jake, I have – I don't know which one I'm – I don't want to say disgusted.
04:04Like, more turned off by is probably Jake because he's been out there and had more opportunities.
04:10And Overshown's body has just failed him.
04:12Yeah, Overshown's frustrating.
04:13He's just – it's a frustrating reality.
04:15It's not anything you can really blame for.
04:16Because the dude, like, we know.
04:18Yes.
04:18We'll hear all-time stories about the way he works.
04:21Yeah, I think he would chop off a finger to get out and play.
04:24He's just – he is the latest in a long line of linebackers they pick over the last 15 years
04:29that cannot stay healthy.
04:31Yeah, but linebackers –
04:32It's just the default for them.
04:33Linebacker will be second for me after D.N.
04:35Day and Henley from the Chargers.
04:36Chargers obviously are terrible right now.
04:38Henley is not going to be a Jordan Brooks acquisition.
04:41There's not really a lot of those guys out there that would look to be obvious trade block candidates.
04:47But Day and Henley is a solid linebacker for the Chargers.
04:50He's had a little bit of a down year this year, and at times the coverage is not what you
04:56want it to be.
04:57But he's somebody who does something that right now I don't think you have in your linebacker group,
05:03which is he plays well in space.
05:05Like, dear God, somebody helped Jay Sean Barham when he's just out in the open field against somebody.
05:10If he can run – if he can – Eric and I were talking about this the other day.
05:12If he can, like, shoot the gaps between the tackles, attack inside the tackle box, and just play run defense
05:18that way, he's great.
05:19But, like, man, when you get Barham out in the open field, we're seeing he is just getting shook out
05:24of his shoes almost every single time.
05:26Yeah, day in, day out, they need the linebacker.
05:29Exactly.
05:29By the way, people are out of the fan text.
05:31A couple points.
05:33The Jets won't help you.
05:35Why?
05:36Because they want your higher pick.
05:38It doesn't – well, it doesn't matter to them.
05:41Is it not?
05:42Like, they're getting the higher pick regardless.
05:43Right.
05:43If Dallas plays well, then the Packers will be low.
05:46It's, like – it's the same sort of thing.
05:47But also, I don't think they would – it's the same thought process that says if we want to get
05:53rid of Will McDonald
05:53and we don't think he's good enough to be on our team, they don't think they're helping you that much.
05:57They believe in selling the player.
05:59So you don't buy that – because if you're 8-9, you're going to be – even if you're, like,
06:05not one of the –
06:06Think about it from this perspective, I'd say.
06:07People hate Terrence Steele here, right?
06:09Yeah.
06:09Maybe unfairly, so it's – I mean, definitely fair criticism, but maybe, like, an overabundance of hate.
06:14But regardless, I think if you suggest it in another market, Cowboys don't want to help you by trading you
06:19Terrence Steele.
06:20Cowboys fans would go, that's not going to help you if you get Terrence Steele.
06:23Right.
06:23I think the Jets don't want to think, that's not helping you if you get Will McDonald.
06:26He's not a good player.
06:27Yeah.
06:28So linebacker Dan Henley.
06:31Cornerback.
06:31This one's a little odd because, to me, you've addressed it already with Porter.
06:36I mean, you definitely could use depth.
06:37You want to add other players.
06:38If you could add a nickel guy, that might be helpful.
06:41If you could just say, let's be a little more flexible and bring downs along a little slower.
06:46But I'm going to go instead with a guy who was picked in the draft a couple years ago and
06:51has just not clicked the way Baltimore has won it,
06:55and that's TJ Tampa, who's a big outside corner who, with some of the struggles that Bland has had, could
07:02give him a little bit of a reprieve.
07:04Tampa is a guy who, he just came off of an injury.
07:08I think he's coming back this week or next.
07:11But young player, I think he's on his third year of his rookie deal, a guy that the Cowboys liked,
07:17long, physical type of corner, has really good speed.
07:20He's just, he's not been the type of player that Baltimore was hoping they were getting when they had him.
07:25And they've resisted.
07:27There were talk over the summer that he could get traded, and it said Baltimore is resisting that.
07:31I wonder if they might be a little bit more open to it now.
07:35Buda Baker, as we look at trade candidates for the Dallas Cowboys, who could make some sense at every position.
07:40Safety.
07:41I cannot believe we're talking about it.
07:42I mean, not that we're really talking about it, but even the thought of acquiring another safety.
07:47Yeah, it'd be ridiculous.
07:48But I'm just trying to, I'm covering all bases here, every position.
07:51Yep.
07:52And so.
07:53And usually when you do this, I mean, you're two for two.
07:55You bring up one of these names, they make a deal for them.
07:58So look out for them to acquire eight players.
08:01Next week.
08:01Yeah, right.
08:02But Buda Baker is a guy who, he would cost you almost $10 million the rest of the year.
08:06He's expensive.
08:07He's aging.
08:09But the difference with him is that is a smart football player who would be able to pick up a
08:14lot of what you need in that secondary.
08:19And, you know, one of your defensive backs coaches now, Ryan Smith, he had played, he had been with him
08:23in Arizona last year, in the last couple of years.
08:26And so I think that that's an option that you could look at.
08:29But if you wanted to add another safety, that's probably way down the priority list at this point.
08:33So that's the defensive side of the ball.
08:35The offense.
08:36Quarterback down.
08:37Because we're going to, again, we're going to acquire everything.
08:39Whoa.
08:39You lost Joe Milton.
08:40You had Sam Howell, who maybe you don't feel great about him.
08:43Anthony Richardson.
08:44Richardson, they have clearly loved, like, the high upside, Joe Milton, Trey Lance.
08:50Those are the type of quarterbacks they've liked acquiring.
08:52Yeah.
08:53Richardson's stock is so low right now.
08:56I mean, you'd have to call directly to Carly Ursae Gordon since Chris Ballard's gone.
09:00You'd have to give her a call.
09:01Just pop in on the headset and ask for Anthony Richardson.
09:05But Anthony Richardson, a guy that I think would make sense to them, is just like, oh, buy low and
09:10see if there's upside there.
09:11They don't keep him.
09:12They don't.
09:13They don't develop the traits.
09:15Like, they gave up on Joe.
09:17It felt like they were with Joe, and they just gave up for some reason.
09:20Or they just clearly didn't think it was.
09:22They thought he was too much of a freelancer, clearly.
09:24And Trey Lance was just too much of Trey Lance.
09:26Yeah, so don't go and get Anthony Richardson to me.
09:29He's a freelance type traits player.
09:31Look, I mean, go ahead and stick with your old Andy Dalton Cooper rushes.
09:36That's what this organization feels like, that they really would only play a backup quarterback.
09:40I don't want to go trade for a quarterback right now, but if we're just saying, like, who at that
09:44position would they maybe try and take, like, a high upside?
09:48Richardson seems like the blinking light.
09:50But, like, what is their end game here with this?
09:53Would it be, like, you just want him as a backup, or, like, you're, like, preparing him for when Dak
09:57eventually retires to take over?
09:59I think the idea would just be bet on upside at that position, regardless of what it is, and then
10:04whatever that turns into, try to take advantage of it.
10:07Whether it's as a replacement, whether it's as flipping him.
10:09I mean, they've tried, I think, with Lance and Milton to do what New England used to do with, like,
10:14Brian Hoyer and Garoppolo and those guys that they would turn around and turn around.
10:17Running back.
10:19This one you could throw out Jonathan Taylor, some of those bigger names.
10:22I think they'd instead just be looking for more of a complimentary back to Javante Williams.
10:26Tyrone Tracy has fallen completely out of favor with the Giants.
10:30Now, you've got a little bit more opportunity this past week.
10:32Yeah, Najee Harris got cut.
10:33Yeah, Najee Harris.
10:33Najee Harris got cut.
10:35Scadaboo cannot hold on to football.
10:37Let's not.
10:38Tyrone Tracy, though, that's a guy who's a former converted receiver, very Tony Pollard-like skill set, has some juice.
10:43I'd be interested in him as an addition to what Javante Williams does.
10:47So I heard Nate Newton with Jesse Holley, DallasCowboys.com, say, get some more juice in the running back room,
10:55and that will fix a ton.
10:57Nate said that.
10:57He said, you want to fix it?
10:58Go ahead and get some more juice.
11:00They don't have anybody with, like, wiggle and burst back there right now.
11:03No.
11:03And Jaden Blue was supposed to be that, but now the Eagles even cut him.
11:07Last couple of positions here as we look at trade deadline candidates that might make sense.
11:10Rashad Baker.
11:11By the way, next time you talk to Nate because you didn't do the show with him last night.
11:16I did not.
11:17Rude.
11:17Nate is, like, being, like, Charles Barkley, and he'll be like, I'm listening to all these other fools.
11:23I'm listening to all these other shows.
11:24I need to figure out who Nate is listening to in the morning before he does his DallasCowboys.com.
11:31K&C, I think.
11:33Okay.
11:34I don't want it to be us.
11:35No, I don't think it's us.
11:36Because he'll be talking about some things.
11:38I'm like, we talked about that, and he's doing Barkley.
11:40I heard these idiots.
11:41I heard these fools.
11:41I heard, you know, you run the football.
11:44And he's taking some shots.
11:45And I'm like, oh, this is hurting.
11:47This hurt my feelings.
11:47And Nate's talking about this show.
11:49When we've asked him, I know when I've asked Nate to come on before, he's like, man, I don't have
11:53to actually wake up.
11:54Like, so I think he tends to sleep in a little later.
11:57Because he would say something to you at the Cowboys club.
12:00Yeah, I heard your guys.
12:02He honestly may be saying it that way in the hopes that then I, like, he may try to, and
12:07I just haven't noticed it.
12:07Maybe he's dropped it in front of me, and he's waiting for me to go, are you talking about me?
12:11Yeah, ask him.
12:12I have to give my convection oven back to him.
12:15He is not.
12:15Maybe if he's talking bad about us.
12:16You have Nate Newton's convection oven.
12:18Well, he gave it to me for my first marriage, my first wedding gift.
12:22Did he go to your wedding?
12:22He did, yeah.
12:23Wow.
12:23Was he the biggest celebrity there?
12:26Yeah, Irvin didn't.
12:28He didn't respond.
12:30He didn't respond.
12:32He didn't even respond?
12:33He didn't respond.
12:34I worked with him.
12:35I was like, hey, are you going to turn in the invitation or what?
12:38Well, I don't know.
12:40All right, Rashad Bateman, receiver, Baltimore.
12:42That was a guy they liked.
12:43That was one of the top guys they were considering when George Pickens got traded here.
12:46If you were to say, all right, we need something more solid than Flannoy, and we're eventually going to move
12:50on from Pickens, if that's their thought.
12:51But Bateman in Baltimore, who has kind of fallen out of favor as well, might make some sense.
12:56Two more really quickly.
12:57Daniel Bellinger, the tight end in Tennessee, a guy they liked coming out of college a few years ago.
13:02Played well with the Giants.
13:04Was not bad at all.
13:05He just signed a contract with Tennessee.
13:07He's not the number one there, though.
13:08They're number one tight end.
13:09He's getting a supplementary role for a decent amount of money.
13:13He'd be about $2 million for the Cowboys to acquire.
13:16And then finally, freshly benched in Las Vegas, but a guy Zach Wolchuk and Brian Broaddus loved, and the Cowboys
13:24liked quite a bit a couple years ago.
13:25Two years ago, Jackson Powers Johnson out of Oregon, who is a center guard combo.
13:32He can play both spots and was considered a really high upside player from Oregon.
13:37Has not played great and has had his trouble with injuries and some of the other stuff.
13:42But looks like he needs a fresh start out of Vegas because they're moving on in terms of he's already
13:47been benched,
13:47and it looks like they'll look to move on from him.
13:49And so Jackson Powers Johnson could make sense on the offensive line since you've already acquired Broderick Jones.
13:54Bobby Belt going shopping for everything.
13:56The last time he has done this, he has gone 2-4-2, starting off with Broderick Jones.
14:02He's gone 2-4-3, starting off with Broderick Jones.
