00:00No, I am excited.
00:01No, you're not.
00:02You're not.
00:03I can tell you are.
00:04I'm excited to see, honestly.
00:04If you were that excited about the Cavs, you'd be bitching my ear off every break that we
00:08need to be talking more Cavs.
00:11Right or wrong?
00:12Right or wrong, Judge?
00:13Right or wrong, Your Honor?
00:14Honestly, I think, I try to think I know the audience by now, and our audience is more
00:19upset about the TV situation.
00:21And you'd be, and you know the audience, too, so let me take it a step further, Your Honor.
00:26He would be calling out the audience going, okay, is this a bad sports town or just a
00:29Brownstown?
00:30That is a Lima card he has played for years.
00:34I have, but I don't think there being a bad sports town here.
00:37I think the expectation of having the team more readily available, it is something that
00:43they feel right now that they don't feel like their needs are being met right now.
00:50And that's unfortunate.
00:51That's a rarity for a Dan Gilbert-owned team.
00:54It really is.
00:55So, it stinks right now.
00:57I am excited.
00:58I do think, you know, you brought up, and Owen, you brought this up, too, did the baseball
01:02team and their run, it kind of took away the buzz on the Cavs, which, by the way, that's
01:08fine.
01:08I think the Cavs would be fine with that.
01:09They don't, they know that people ease into the NBA season anyway.
01:13Yeah, we haven't paid attention, especially to preseason NBA in a decade, right?
01:18No.
01:19Or longer.
01:20No, and then when you've got guys on the team like, you know, your stars.
01:26Donovan Mitchell have said they know they could go 82-0 and people wouldn't care necessarily.
01:30Where did they spend most of their training at?
01:33Where did they?
01:33Well, they spent some of it in Spain.
01:34Yeah, I don't know that the majority of Clevelanders know that.
01:39No.
01:40Know that they were actually gone.
01:41No.
01:41And not even around.
01:43The majority of, when we say Clevelanders, I throw the whole Northeast Ohio region, and
01:47I would say the majority doesn't know.
01:48Yeah.
01:49Like a guy listening up in Geneva didn't know.
01:51And I don't blame them.
01:52I don't know that I really knew until I saw it on the news one day.
01:56But I was more consumed with the baseball team at the time.
01:59And then the Browns getting off to exceeding expectations, which were very low.
02:05I just, I know you, and I know that you get excited for basketball in general.
02:12And I think that you would either, A, be calling me out for not talking enough Cavs, fitting enough
02:17Cavs in today, or B, calling the fans out for not wanting to discuss the Cavs.
02:21I'm going to have to side on the side of Ken here, because they're playing LeBron James
02:24tonight.
02:24Well, that's part of it.
02:25But I will give Lima a little bit of a lifeline here.
02:29No, I don't want to.
02:30We did talk Cavs earlier today, but it became a big argument about accessibility.
02:34We spent 40 minutes bitching about how they aren't on your cable.
02:37Well, because you handed me something that looks like an offensive play sheet.
02:41I just gave you a way to make sure you see them every night.
02:45It's so easy to do.
02:46There are only like nine different options here, right?
02:49There's one, two, three, four.
02:50I understand there's months here.
02:52This looks like what I'm going to do on third and ten.
02:54There's seven different ways to watch them.
02:54That's great.
02:55You know, seven different options.
02:56And then you just, today it's on one, tomorrow it's on a different one.
02:59The game three is on a different third one.
03:02Then we're back to the one that was on the second one.
03:03And then back to the third one.
03:05And back to the second one.
03:06And then we go to a fourth one by game seven.
03:08Yeah.
03:09That's so easy to do.
03:10March looks like third and long in the high red.
03:13That's what it looks like right now.
03:15Like that's, and that kills me because I do think it kills part of what we do.
03:21Okay.
03:22I can try to take my headphones off and look at this as a business thing and go,
03:25Hey, like I talk sports.
03:27I, we get very, okay.
03:31Well, we can't just talk Browns all the time.
03:33I know we get accused of that.
03:35And there's some guys laughing and laughing and laughing after I just said that.
03:38All right.
03:39But I would like to talk Cavs.
03:41I would.
03:42But if you didn't watch them or you couldn't watch them and because you can't watch them,
03:48that means you're not that interested.
03:49Well, guess we're going to sit over here and twiddle our thumbs for a while instead of talking Cavs.
03:55Tonight they are on national television.
03:57And they do play LeBron James.
03:59Yeah, they're playing LeBron.
04:00So no excuse not to watch them tonight if you're into basketball because it is available.
04:05That's part of the problem though is I do think part of the malaise, the hangover,
04:12even though we had a hangover going into the last year, boy, a terrible hangover.
04:15Got to get some Pedialyte in this fan base.
04:18Part of the, part of the hangover from last year is we didn't get LeBron back.
04:25And a lot of us were hearing, Lyme and I, hand to God.
04:28Did we or did we not hear somebody who is extremely close to the situation,
04:33who told us to our faces that they're just looking for the right way to announce it?
04:40To our faces they told us this, Anthony.
04:44So you didn't get LeBron back.
04:46And honestly, I'm like, hey, Peyton Watson isn't a name that anybody's really paying close attention to.
04:53He will be good for this basketball team.
04:56He's not up there in the ilk of the greatest player of all time.
05:00But is he up there in the ilk for this basketball team if we would have got the greatest player
05:04of all time back at 42 years old?
05:07I think he could help them in playoff series if he got there healthy.
05:11Well, that's what I'm saying.
05:12Okay, but when it comes to LeBron, like, I think we were so wanting LeBron back because it's what we
05:18know is successful in the past.
05:21But I got to tell you, like, I'm not picking the Sixers to win the Eastern Conference Finals.
05:24I'm not picking them out of the East.
05:26And really, I'm not going to pick them this year, and I'm probably not going to pick them next year.
05:29And LeBron has been very like, hey, you know, this is a process.
05:31You're going to have to have some patience, this, that, and the other.
05:33He knows that.
05:34He knows that it takes a long time, or it takes a little longer than what fans are accustomed to.
05:40But I'm like, eh.
05:41You know, I can sit and argue, not enough basketball to go around for Philadelphia.
05:44I just don't know if they're going to be healthy enough.
05:46And honestly, is he the type of guy that can carry them anymore?
05:50I don't think he is.
05:53He's not.
05:54LeBron, some of my greatest memories of professional sports is watching LeBron James play.
05:59Him mad, LeBron mad, taking over a game is some of the greatest stuff I've ever seen.
06:09And it's really the most powerful moment in sports.
06:11If you're just watching the games, seeing a guy against elite athletes in the world
06:16take over a basketball game just because he's pissed at them is amazing.
06:20It's amazing.
06:21To me, it's the most impressive thing I've ever seen.
06:24But that was old LeBron.
06:26This is now old LeBron.
06:28And I think a lot of us have kind of been on the feigning couch for it.
06:32And I'm not trying to talk disrespectfully about him or his legacy.
06:36I'm just trying to be honest about a guy who's approaching 40.
06:39He's 42 now.
06:41I forget how much older he is than me.
06:43He's going to be 42.
06:43He's going to be 42.
06:45I'm just looking at the honest 42-year-old LeBron James.
06:50He was playing defensive center in their opener down the stretch.
06:53Exactly.
06:54And he played it really well.
06:55Because he's a great basketball player.
06:56He could play any position on the floor.
06:58He could be a head coach.
06:59He could be a player coach if he wanted to.
07:02But I think a lot of us just got...
07:05He's what we know is successful.
07:07He's what we know is the cheat code.
07:10But I do think that's part of the reason he might not have came here.
07:13He knows he's 42 years old.
07:15He knows he's got a bad back now.
07:16He knows he's got bad feet, bad ankles.
07:19I mean, he's played 23 seasons.
07:21But when you add in the postseason, he's played 25.
07:24That's a lot of damn basketball to be playing.
07:27And the sciatica, the degenerative feet or whatever the issue is, the other than the back.
07:34Like, it's going to take its toll.
07:36And I think that part of the reason he didn't come back is that we were expecting a different version
07:41of LeBron to come back.
07:42And that LeBron's never coming back.
07:44You know when I talk about Deshaun Watson all the time with everybody?
07:47Like, you guys are waiting for 2020 Deshaun Watson to come through the door.
07:49He ain't never coming through the door.
07:51So we need to make the best version of 2026.
07:53What will be interesting to see, Peyton Watson, how active he is, how much of a step forward he takes
08:00in his career.
08:01Because he had a month last year.
08:03Granted, it was only a month.
08:04But he had a month last year for Denver where he looked like an all-star.
08:08And we have not had that at the wing position.
08:11Dean Wade was formidable at times.
08:14But very limited, right?
08:15Uh-huh.
08:16They have not, you know, like Isaac Okoro.
08:18He went to Philadelphia to win a championship.
08:19He said it himself.
08:20I know.
08:20And then it was out for the opener.
08:22Isaac Okoro, on the other hand, was limited.
08:25You knew he could play a little bit of defense.
08:26But was so limited.
08:27Have you seen Watson?
08:29And you can say, well, it's preseason.
08:31But I can tell you, there actually isn't that much of a difference.
08:34I watch the preseason games from the regular season games.
08:37Watson was getting up and down the floor.
08:39He was coming over to block shots.
08:41His head was above the basket.
08:43He's long.
08:44He's athletic.
08:45He can hit an open three.
08:47Like, they have been missing that for this entire run.
08:50Whether it was the Colin Sexton, Darius Garland, you know, Donovan Mitchell.
08:56They have not had that kind of athleticism.
08:59I'm telling you, if he can continue on from where he kind of left off at the end of last
09:04year before he got injured,
09:05I think people are going to be like, on this version of the Cavs, LeBron who?
09:10See, I saw our very own Jax Gregory highlight something.
09:13And I couldn't get the clip for John because I don't think there was a clip that I could find.
09:18Brian Scalabrini says he doesn't even have the Cavs in his top six in the East.
09:21Yeah, some do.
09:22Some don't.
09:23There's no consensus on the Eastern Conference right now.
09:25I do take that disrespectfully here because, like, I don't know very much about Peyton Watson.
09:29That's given.
09:30But from what I've seen and what you've told me and what, like, hearing from Justin Rowan and all the
09:35guys,
09:35it's like, hey, this might exactly be what we need.
09:37And then when you really break it down and you calm down from the emotion of losing to the Knicks
09:41the way you did,
09:42it's like, wait a minute.
09:43Listen, you're bringing back your team and you improved at the position you do need.
09:49Like you mentioned, I think we have an upgrade over Dean Wade.
09:52If we've improved and we were one of the last two teams in the East,
09:56how can you just turn right around and say that we're not even in the top six?
10:00I understand Miami has gotten better.
10:03Yes.
10:03I understand Philly has gotten better.
10:06Okay.
10:07But not in the top six.
10:09It seems to be very disrespectful of a team that was an Eastern Conference Finals team,
10:14brought everybody back, and then also improved on their team.
10:18But because we don't have the biggest name that ever played the game,
10:20or one of the two biggest names that ever played the game,
10:22now they're just stuck in the mud and we're not going to do anything
10:25and there's no point even rooting for them.
10:26I think that's pretty silly.
10:29Coming up in five minutes,
10:32Todd Munkin wasn't at the team building party that Deshaun had.
10:36I don't even want to do this.
10:38You're going to do it.
10:40You know what?
10:40I do.
10:41I'm ready to go headlong into it.
10:43Todd Munkin wasn't at Deshaun Watson's team building party.
10:46Bonding party.
10:47He wasn't the only one who couldn't make it.
10:49Ken Carman, Anthony Lima, live on the fan.
