00:04The Gospel of St Luke, Chapter 15, Verses 18 and 19
00:12I will arise and go to my Father, and will say to him,
00:18Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee,
00:22and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
00:29Dearly beloved brethren, the Scripture moves us in sundry places
00:34to acknowledge and confess our manifold sins and wickedness,
00:40but that we should not disassemble nor clothe them
00:45before the face of Almighty God our Heavenly Father,
00:49but confess them with a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
00:56To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same
01:00by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:05And although we ought at all times humbly to acknowledge our sins before God,
01:11yet ought we chiefly so to do,
01:14when we assemble and meet together,
01:16to render thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:20to set forth his most worthy praise,
01:24to hear his most holy word,
01:28and to ask those things which are requisite and necessary,
01:32as well for the body as the soul.
01:37Wherefore, I pray and beseech you,
01:39as many as are here present,
01:41to accompany me with a pure heart and humble voice
01:45to the throne of the heavenly grace,
01:49saying after me,
01:53Almighty and most merciful Father,
01:56we have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep.
02:02We have followed too much
02:04the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:09We have offended against thy holy laws.
02:14We have left undone those things which we ought to have done,
02:19and we have done those things we ought not to have done,
02:22and there is no health in us.
02:27But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us,
02:30miserable offenders.
02:33Spare thou them, O God, who confess their faults.
02:37Restore thou those who are penitent,
02:40according to thy promises declared unto mankind
02:44in Christ Jesus our Lord.
02:47And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake,
02:51that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life.
02:57To the glory of thy holy name.
03:00Amen.
03:04Almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
03:08who desireth not the death of a sinner,
03:11but rather that he turn from his wickedness and live,
03:15and has given power and commandment to his ministers
03:19to declare and pronounce to his people,
03:22being penitent,
03:25the absolution and remission of their sins.
03:30He pardoneth and absolveth all
03:32who truly repent
03:34and unfaimly believe his holy gospel.
03:40Wherefore, let us beseech him to grant us true repentance
03:44and his holy spirit,
03:46that those things may please him
03:49which we do at this present,
03:52and that the rest of our life hereafter may be pure and holy,
03:56so that at the last we may come to his eternal joy,
04:00through Jesus Christ our Lord.
04:06Amen.
04:09Our Father, which art in heaven,
04:12hallowed be thy name.
04:14Thy kingdom come.
04:16Thy will be done as it is in heaven.
04:20Give us this day our daily bread,
04:22and forgive us our trespasses,
04:25as we forgive them the trespass against us.
04:29And lead us not into temptation,
04:32but deliver us from evil,
04:34for thine is the kingdom,
04:36the power and the glory,
04:38for ever and ever.
04:40Amen.
04:44O Lord, open our lips,
04:47and our mouth shall show forth thy praise.
04:53O God, make speed to save us.
04:57O Lord, make haste to help us.
05:03Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
05:05and to the Holy Ghost,
05:07as it was in the beginning,
05:09is now and ever shall be,
05:12world without end.
05:14Amen.
05:17Praise ye the Lord.
05:20The Lord's name be praised.
05:25O come, let us sing unto the Lord,
05:28and let us heartily rejoice
05:30in the strength of our salvation.
05:34Let us come before his presence
05:36with thanksgiving,
05:37and show ourselves glad in him with psalms.
05:42For the Lord is a great God,
05:44and a great King above all gods.
05:48In his hand are all the corners of the earth,
05:50and the strength of the hills is his also.
05:55The sea is his, and he made it,
05:57and his hands prepared the dry land.
06:01O come, let us worship and hold home,
06:04and kneel before the Lord, our Maker.
06:08For he is the Lord, our God,
06:10and we are the people of his pasture,
06:13and the sheep of his hand.
06:17Today, if you will hear his voice,
06:20harden not your hearts,
06:21as in the provocation,
06:23and as in the day of temptation,
06:26in the wilderness,
06:28when our fathers tempted us,
06:31proved us,
06:31and saw our works.
06:35Forty years long,
06:36I was grieved with this generation,
06:38and said,
06:38It is a people that do err in their hearts,
06:41and they have not known my ways.
06:46Unto whom I swore in my wrath,
06:48that they should not enter into my rest.
06:53Glory be to the Father,
06:55and to the Son,
06:55and to the Holy Ghost,
06:57as it was in the beginning,
06:59is now and ever shall be,
07:02world without end.
07:04Amen.
07:14Psalm 6
07:16I will magnify thee, O Lord,
07:19for thou hast set me up,
07:20and not made my foes to triumph over me.
07:25O Lord my God,
07:26I cried unto thee,
07:27and thou hast healed me.
07:30Thou, Lord,
07:31hast brought my soul out of hell,
07:34thou hast kept my life
07:36from them that go down to the pit.
07:39Sing praises unto the Lord,
07:41O ye saints of his.
07:42Give thanks unto him
07:44for a remembrance of his holiness.
07:48For his wrath endureth,
07:50but for the twinkling of one eye,
07:52and in his pleasure is life.
07:55Heaviness may endure for a night
07:57when joy cometh in the morning.
08:01And in my prosperity,
08:03I said,
08:04I shall never be removed.
08:06Thou, Lord,
08:07of thy goodness,
08:09hast made my hill so strong.
08:12Thou didst turn thy faith from me,
08:15and I was troubled.
08:18Then cried I unto thee, O Lord,
08:21and gat me to my Lord right humbly.
08:26What profit is there in my blood
08:29when I go down to the pit?
08:33Shall the dust give thanks unto thee,
08:35or shall it declare thy truth?
08:39Hear, O Lord,
08:40and have mercy upon thee.
08:42Lord,
08:43be thou my helper.
08:45Thou hast turned my heaviness into joy.
08:48Thou hast put off my sackcloth,
08:50and girded me with gladness.
08:54Therefore shall every good man
08:56sing of thy praise without ceasing.
08:59O my God,
09:00I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
09:04Glory be to the Father,
09:06and to the Son,
09:07and to the Holy Ghost,
09:08as it was in the beginning,
09:10is now,
09:11and ever shall be,
09:13world without end.
09:15Amen.
09:18Psalm 31
09:21In thee, O Lord,
09:23have I put my trust.
09:24Let me never be put to confusion.
09:27Deliver me in thy righteousness.
09:31Bow down thine ear to me,
09:33make haste to deliver me.
09:35And be thou my strong rock
09:37and house of defence,
09:39that thou mayest save me.
09:41For thou art my strong rock
09:44and my castle.
09:45Be thou also my guide,
09:47and lead me for thy name's sake.
09:51Draw me out of the net
09:53that they have laid privily for me.
09:55For thou art my strength.
09:58Into thy hands I commend my spirit.
10:01For thou hast redeemed me,
10:04O Lord, thou God of truth.
10:07I have hated them
10:08that hold of superstitious vanities,
10:11and my trust hath been in the Lord.
10:14I will be glad
10:16and rejoice in thy mercy,
10:17for thou hast considered my trouble,
10:20and hast known my soul in adversities.
10:25Thou hast not shut me up
10:27in the hand of the enemy,
10:29but hast set my feet
10:30in a large room.
10:33Have mercy upon me, O Lord,
10:35for I am in trouble,
10:36and mine eye is consumed
10:39for very heaviness.
10:40Yea, my soul and my body.
10:44For my life is waxen old
10:46with heaviness,
10:47and my years with mourning.
10:51My strength faileth me
10:53because of mine iniquity,
10:55and my bones are consumed.
10:58I became a reproof
11:00amongst all thine enemies,
11:03but especially amongst my neighbours,
11:05and they of mine acquaintance
11:07were afraid of me,
11:08and they did see me
11:10without conveyed themselves from me.
11:15I am clean and forgotten
11:17as a dead man out of mine.
11:20I am become like a broken vessel,
11:23for I have heard the blasphemy
11:25of the multitude,
11:26and fear is on every side,
11:29while they conspire together
11:31against me,
11:31and take their counsel
11:33to take away my life.
11:36As my hope has been in thee,
11:38O Lord,
11:39I have said,
11:40Thou art my God.
11:42My time is in thy hand.
11:45Deliver me from the hand
11:47of mine enemies,
11:48and from them that persecute me.
11:52Show thy servant
11:53the light of thy countenance,
11:55and save me
11:56for thy mercy's sake.
11:59Let me not be confounded,
12:01O Lord,
12:02for I have called upon thee.
12:04Let the ungodly
12:06be put to confusion,
12:07and be put to silence
12:09in the grave.
12:12Let the lying lips
12:13be put to silence,
12:15which cruelly,
12:16disdainfully,
12:17and despitefully
12:18speak against the righteous.
12:21O how plentiful is thy goodness,
12:24which thou hast laid up
12:26for them that fear thee,
12:28and that thou hast prepared
12:29for them
12:30and put their trust in thee,
12:32even before the sons of men.
12:37Thou shalt hide them
12:38frivolously
12:39by thine own presence
12:41from the provoking of all men.
12:43Thou shalt keep them secretly
12:46in thy tabernacle
12:47from the strife of tongues.
12:50Thanks be to the Lord,
12:52for he hath showed me
12:54marvellous great kindness
12:55in a strong city.
12:57And when I made haste,
12:59I said,
13:00I am cast out
13:01of the sight
13:02of thine eyes.
13:05Nevertheless,
13:06thou heardest the voice
13:07of my prayer
13:08when I cried unto thee.
13:10I love the Lord,
13:12all ye his saints,
13:13for the Lord preserves
13:15them that are faithful
13:16and plenteously rewarded
13:18the proud viewer.
13:21Be strong,
13:22and he shall establish
13:23your heart,
13:25all ye that put
13:26your trust in the Lord.
13:29Glory be to the Father,
13:31and to the Son,
13:32and to the Holy Ghost,
13:33as it was in the beginning,
13:36is now,
13:36and ever shall be,
13:38world without end.
13:40Amen.
13:45The book of Ecclesiasticus,
13:47chapter 5.
13:50Do not set your hearts
13:51on goods,
13:52and do not say
13:53they are sufficient for me.
13:56Do not follow your own mind
13:58and your own strength,
14:00walking in the desires
14:01of your heart.
14:03Do not say,
14:04who will have dominion
14:05over me?
14:06For the Lord will surely
14:08take vengeance on you.
14:11Do not say,
14:12I sinned,
14:13and what happened to me?
14:15For the Lord is long-suffering.
14:19Concerning atonement,
14:20do not be without fear.
14:24Towards sin upon sin,
14:26do not say,
14:27his compassion is great,
14:29he will be pacified
14:30for the multitude of my sins.
14:32For mercy and wrath
14:34are within him.
14:35His indignation will rest upon sinners.
14:39Do not delay in turning to the Lord,
14:42and do not put it off
14:43from day to day,
14:44for suddenly
14:45the wrath of the Lord
14:47will come forth.
14:48You will perish
14:49in a time of vengeance.
14:52Do not set your heart
14:54on unrighteous gains,
14:56for you will profit nothing
14:57in a time of calamity.
15:01Winnow not
15:02with every wind,
15:03and do not walk
15:04in every path.
15:07So does the sinner
15:08that has a double tongue.
15:11Be steadfast
15:12in your understanding,
15:13and let your word be won.
15:15Be swift
15:16to hear,
15:17and make your answers
15:18with patience.
15:20If you understand,
15:22answer your neighbor.
15:23If not,
15:24let your hand
15:25be over your mouth.
15:27Glory
15:28and dishonor
15:29is in talk.
15:31The tongue of the man
15:32is his fall.
15:34Do not be called
15:36a whisperer,
15:37and do not lie
15:38in wait
15:38with your tongue.
15:40For on the thief
15:42there is shame,
15:43an evil condemnation
15:45upon him
15:46that has
15:46a double tongue.
15:49In matters
15:50great and small,
15:51do not be ignorant.
15:54This is the word
15:55of the Lord.
15:57Thanks be to God.
16:03We praise thee,
16:04O God.
16:05We acknowledge thee
16:06to be the Lord.
16:08All the earth
16:09does worship thee,
16:11the Father everlasting.
16:14To thee,
16:15all angels
16:16cry aloud,
16:17the heavens
16:18and all the powers
16:19therein.
16:21To thee,
16:22terebin
16:22and seraphim
16:23continually
16:24do cry,
16:26Holy,
16:27Holy,
16:27Holy,
16:28Lord God
16:29of Sabael.
16:30Heaven and earth
16:32are full
16:32of the majesty
16:34of thy glory.
16:36The glorious company
16:38of the apostles,
16:39praise thee.
16:41The goodly fellowship
16:42of the prophets,
16:44praise thee.
16:45The noble army
16:46of martyrs,
16:48praise thee.
16:49The holy church
16:51throughout all the world
16:52does acknowledge thee.
16:54The Father
16:55of an infinite majesty,
16:57thy honourable
16:58true
16:59and only Son.
17:01Also the Holy Ghost,
17:03the Comforter.
17:05Thou art the King
17:06of glory,
17:07O Christ.
17:08Thou art the everlasting
17:10Son of the Father.
17:13when thou tookest upon thee
17:15to deliver man,
17:16thou didst not
17:17a bell,
17:18the virgin's womb.
17:20When thou hast
17:21overcome the sharpness
17:22of death,
17:23thou didst open
17:25the kingdom of heaven
17:26to all believers.
17:29Thou sittest at the right
17:31hand of God
17:32in the glory of the Father.
17:34We believe that thou
17:36shalt come
17:37to be our judge.
17:39We therefore pray thee,
17:41help thy servants,
17:43whom thou hast redeemed
17:44with thy precious blood.
17:46Make them to be numbered
17:48with thy sides
17:49in glory everlasting.
17:53O Lord,
17:54save thy people
17:55and bless thine heritage.
17:57Govern them
17:58and lift them up
18:00for ever.
18:01Day by day
18:03we magnify thee,
18:04and we worship thy name
18:07ever,
18:08world without end.
18:10Vouchsafe, O Lord,
18:11to keep us this day
18:12without sin.
18:14Lord,
18:15have mercy upon us,
18:17have mercy upon us.
18:19Lord,
18:20let thy mercy
18:21lighten upon us
18:22as our trust
18:23is in thee.
18:25O Lord,
18:27in thee have I trusted.
18:28Let me never
18:29be confronted.
18:32Glory be to the Father
18:34and to the Son
18:34and to the Holy Spirit,
18:36as it was in the beginning,
18:38is now and ever shall be,
18:41world without end.
18:43Amen.
18:50The Apostle to Titus
18:52chapter 3
18:54Make clear
18:55to them
18:55that they are to put themselves
18:57under rulers
18:58and authorities
18:59to do what they are ordered
19:01to be ready
19:01for every good work,
19:03saying no evil
19:04of any man,
19:06not to be fighters,
19:08to give way to others,
19:10being gentle
19:10in behaviour
19:11to all men.
19:13In the past
19:14we were foolish,
19:16hard in heart,
19:17turned from the true way,
19:19servants of evil desires
19:21and pleasures,
19:23living in bad feeling
19:25and envy,
19:26hated
19:26and hating
19:27one another.
19:29But when the mercy
19:30of God our Saviour
19:31and his love
19:32to man
19:33was seen,
19:34not by righteousness
19:36which we did
19:37ourselves,
19:38but in the measure
19:39of his mercy,
19:41he gave us salvation
19:42through the washing
19:44of the new birth
19:45and the giving
19:46of the new life
19:46in the Holy Spirit
19:47which he gave to us
19:49freely
19:50through Jesus Christ
19:51our Saviour,
19:53so that having been
19:54given righteousness
19:55through grace,
19:57we may have a part
19:58in the heritage,
20:00the hope
20:00of eternal life.
20:05This is a true saying.
20:07It is my desire
20:08that you may give witness
20:09about these things
20:11so that those
20:12who have had faith in God
20:13may give attention
20:14to good works.
20:16These things are good
20:18and of profit
20:19to men,
20:20but have nothing
20:21to do with foolish
20:22questionings
20:23and lists
20:24of generations,
20:26fights and arguments
20:27over the law,
20:28for they are of no profit
20:30and foolish.
20:32A man whose opinions
20:34are not those
20:35of the church
20:36after a first
20:37or second protest
20:38should be kept
20:40from your society,
20:42for clearly
20:43he is in error
20:44and a sinner
20:45judging himself.
20:49When I send
20:50Artemis
20:50or Ticletus
20:51to you,
20:53do your best
20:54to come to me
20:54at Nicopolis,
20:56for it is my purpose
20:57to spend the winter there.
20:59Send Zenos
21:00the man of law
21:01and Apollos
21:02on their journey
21:03with all care
21:04that they may be
21:05in need of nothing.
21:07Let our people
21:08go on with good works
21:10for necessary purposes
21:12so that they may not
21:13be without fruit.
21:15All who are with me
21:17send you their love.
21:19Give our love
21:19to our friends
21:20in the faith.
21:22Grace be with you all.
21:25This is the word
21:27of the Lord.
21:28Thanks be to God.
21:37Blessed be the Lord
21:39God of Israel,
21:40for he hath visited
21:42and redeemed
21:42his people
21:44and hath raised up
21:45a mighty salvation
21:47for us
21:47in the house
21:48of his servant David.
21:51As he spake
21:52by the mouth
21:53of his holy prophets
21:54which have since been
21:56since the world began
21:57that we should be saved
21:59from our enemies
22:00and from the hand
22:01of all that hate us.
22:04To perform
22:05the mercy promised
22:06to our forefathers
22:08and to remember
22:09his holy covenant.
22:11To perform
22:12the oath
22:12which he swore
22:13to our forefather
22:15Abraham
22:15that he would give us
22:17that would be delivered
22:19out of the hand
22:20of our enemies
22:21might serve him
22:22without fear
22:23in holiness
22:25and righteousness
22:26before him
22:27all the days
22:28of our life.
22:31And thou, child,
22:32shall be called
22:32the prophet
22:33of the highest
22:34for thou shalt go
22:35before the face
22:36of the Lord
22:37to prepare his ways
22:38to give knowledge
22:40of salvation
22:41to his people
22:42for the remission
22:44of their sins.
22:45through the tender mercy
22:47of our God
22:48whereby the dayspring
22:50from on high
22:51hath visited us
22:52to give light
22:54to them
22:55that sit in darkness
22:56and in the shadow
22:58of death
22:58and to guide our feet
23:00into the way
23:01of peace.
23:03Glory be to the Father
23:05and to the Son
23:05and to the Holy Ghost
