00:00Good morning, happy Halloween. Fortunately, the weather's not looking as frightful as it did this time last weekend.
00:07That being said, there's some fog around this morning and there's more of that to come through the coming nights
00:11as well.
00:12Currently, we have high pressure just to the east of us, keeping things largely settled, and high building from the
00:17west as well.
00:18In between, there is a frontal system, and that at the moment is bringing cloud and rain to northern and
00:23western parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:25It is going to filter a bit further south and eastwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland as we go through
00:30the day.
00:30For England and Wales, yes, there's some mists, some fog, some low cloud around at the moment, but most of
00:35that's going to lift and break up,
00:37leading to largely bright sunny skies for most as we go through the afternoon.
00:41But in some places, that fog could linger. Vale of York, for example, some parts of East Anglia could see
00:47some of that fog continuing through much of the day.
00:50And if you're stuck under that fog, well, it's going to feel a bit chilly.
00:53But elsewhere, where we see the sunshine breaking through, it's actually going to be rather warm for the time of
00:58year,
00:58with temperatures peaking in the mid, possibly even high teens Celsius.
01:02That band of rain then across Scotland and Northern Ireland continues to edge a little bit further south and eastwards.
01:06So if you are going trick-or-treating, it's across some eastern parts of Northern Ireland,
01:11some central-southern areas of Scotland where it could be a bit wet.
01:14Dry weather following in behind, and lots of dry, fine, relatively mild weather ahead of this,
01:20albeit we need to watch out for some mist and fog starting to redevelop pretty quickly through the evening and
01:25overnight.
01:26That rain edges into parts of Northern England and North Wales later in the night.
01:31Ahead of this, staying dry, but yes, watch out for that fog, which could be quite thick, quite dense in
01:36places,
01:36could cause some problems on the road first thing tomorrow morning,
01:39and then clearer skies across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland,
01:42albeit with some sherry bursts of rain coming in from the northwest as well.
01:46So a bit chilly across parts towards the north behind this system, temperatures dropping to very low single figures,
01:52if not a touch below freezing perhaps, and also quite fresh, quite chilly in other areas towards the south.
01:57But where the fog does develop, that will stop the temperatures from getting especially low.
02:02So a bit of a great foggy start for many parts of England and Wales.
02:05Then we do have that rain edging southwards, but it's quite light and it's breaking up as it goes.
02:11So there'll be some outbreaks of rain pushing into parts of the Midlands, maybe East Anglia,
02:15through the afternoon, eventually reaching parts towards the far south.
02:18But like I say, it is breaking up and easing as it goes.
02:22And then we have some brighter skies in other places, a couple of showers across northern areas,
02:27maybe some brightness ahead of the front in the south.
02:29But it is perhaps looking a bit cloudier for many, especially across England and Wales, than it is going to
02:33be today.
02:34We are going to see temperatures, well, still a touch above average, maybe, but a fair drop compared to today.
02:42There's slightly fresher air coming in behind this frontal system.
02:44And like I say, there's more cloud around, so that's going to stop temperatures getting as high as they will
02:49do today,
02:50even though the sun strength isn't particularly high at this time of year.
02:53As we go later on and through into next week, well, we are going to stick with high pressure generally
02:59in control.
03:00As a result, it's going to stay quite calm and mostly dry, not totally dry.
03:04A few spots of rain are quite likely, but not a huge amount.
03:08It's perhaps going to be a bit cloudier than it has been of late.
03:10And with that, whilst there's still the risk of some fog overnight, perhaps less fog than we've seen recently.
03:15And by day, yes, more cloud around too.
03:18With that, then, temperatures are going to be close to average for the time of year.
03:21But all of this is relatively good news for those who are hoping to go out and enjoy some fireworks
03:26later in the week.
03:27Not so good news for those areas in desperate need of some rain with some severe droughts in places as
03:32well.
03:33We will, of course, be keeping you up to date with the forecast through the next few days and beyond.
03:37And if you are going trick-or-treating or have any other Halloween plans, I do hope you enjoy them.
03:42Bye-bye.
