00:00Hello there, good afternoon.
00:02It's quite a foggy start for some this morning.
00:04This will clear away this afternoon, leaving fine conditions for many, but the fog will
00:08soon make a return.
00:09But what's the reason for the more settled picture?
00:12Well, of course, it's all thanks to high pressure, which is building towards the east of us,
00:16bringing settled conditions for many areas.
00:18But notice a weather front does try to push its way in towards the north-west.
00:21As it bumps up against that high pressure, that does mean it's fairly slow moving.
00:25That means across Scotland, Northern Ireland, they could see quite a soggy Halloween.
00:29In through this afternoon, though, that cloud will eventually build up towards the north-west
00:34and the rain stays out towards the west before eventually just pushing into the Western Isles
00:38later in towards the day.
00:39But a lot of cloud will break up for many areas this afternoon, so a decent amount of sunshine
00:44out there.
00:45And in light winds, it should feel rather pleasant.
00:47Temperatures pushing up to 16 to 17 degrees for some areas, perhaps even a little bit higher
00:51towards northern areas of Scotland.
00:54Now later in through the evening, that weather front does slowly progress its way south and
00:58eastward, so more rain pushing through by the time we reach the early hours of Saturday.
01:03To the south of this, it will remain dry, but we're likely to see a return of low cloud,
01:07mist and fog, probably more widespread compared to what we had this morning.
01:12Areas such as the Midlands, eastern areas of Wales, Lincolnshire and the Vale of York could
01:16see some quite dense fog patches, which may be fairly slow to clear through Saturday morning.
01:21Now, under any clear spells, that's where temperatures could get that little bit lower,
01:25so it's likely going to be feeling quite chilly for many if you're up early on Saturday.
01:29Most towns and cities around the mid to high single figures, but notice towards the northwest,
01:33things staying that little bit milder under the cloud and rain.
01:36Now, Saturday itself will be quite a grey gloomy start.
01:40As they say, some of that fog will be slow to clear, so do take care if you're travelling
01:44around through Saturday morning.
01:45By the afternoon, a lot of that fog will have cleared away.
01:48Once again, it should be fine, settled with some sunny spells, but where any low cloud
01:52lingers, that's where it's going to feel that little bit chillier.
01:55That front slowly progresses its way south and eastward, so once again on Saturday for
02:00Scotland, Northern Ireland.
02:02Quite cloudy with some light outbreaks of rain, but often staying that little bit milder
02:06here.
02:06High is still between kind of 13 to 15 degrees Celsius, so not much change from overnight
02:11temperatures towards daytime temperatures.
02:13A little bit cooler towards northern areas between 12 to 14 degrees Celsius.
02:17It's still the south where we'll see the highest temperatures of around 16 degrees Celsius.
02:22Now, of course, Saturday is Halloween, so I'm sure many of us will be heading out trick-or-treating,
02:27and I'm afraid it's a little bit soggy for areas of Scotland, though that rain will eventually
02:31start to clear the west later into the evening.
02:33Similar across Northern Ireland, a lot of that rain will clear its way eastward, so if you
02:37head out a little bit later, it should be that bit drier.
02:39That rain will push into southern areas of Scotland, perhaps the far northwest of England
02:43later into the day, but many areas of England and Wales should stay dry.
02:47But of course, later into the evening, that's where we'll see a return of the fog once again.
02:51The remnants of that front will clear its way southwards on Sunday.
02:55There won't be much rain associated with it later by the afternoon.
02:57It will just bring in a little bit of cloud, perhaps the very light outbreaks of rain.
03:01Towards Monday, high pressure stays with us, centralised across much of the UK.
03:05So the dry, settled theme does continue into next week, but that does also mean some foggy
03:10nights will continue as well.
