00:00Hello there, good evening. Well, after some stormy conditions over the weekend, I'm afraid
00:05the wet and windy weather is not over yet. As we progress into this evening, overnight
00:09into tomorrow, we are expecting another spell of some very wet and windy weather, particularly
00:13across Scotland, coasts of Northern Ireland, also many western and southwestern coasts
00:18of England and Wales. This is where we could potentially see wind speeds of 50 to 60, maybe
00:23even 70 miles per hour around some exposed locations. So if you do find yourself in a
00:28warning area, do take a look at our website for any advice on how to deal with the wet
00:32and windy weather which is on its way. For the time being, though, any heavy rain will
00:37continue to push in from the west, moving its way eastwards through the first part of the
00:41evening, pushing into parts of southeast England through the early hours of the morning, some
00:45quite heavy, blustery spells of rain through the course of the night, and this soon clearing
00:50across areas of Scotland, but many heavy showers starting to push through across these areas.
00:55And with the added wind and rain, that means temperatures won't drop too low.
00:58Mostly between 9 to 13 degrees Celsius as we move from north to south.
01:04Now let's focus in on those winds because it's really the first part of Tuesday morning where
01:08they really start to ramp up across areas of Scotland, particularly around any hills or coasts
01:13where we could see some wind speeds in excess of 70 miles per hour. The strongest of the winds
01:18will transfer their way northwards through the course of the day, but even behind any strong
01:22gusts, it is still going to be quite blustery even into the afternoon.
01:27So first thing on Tuesday, across the southeast, another wet start. Still very windy here.
01:32The strongest of the winds across the north, some very heavy, blustery showers moving through.
01:36We could see some hail, some thunder mixed in amongst these showers, maybe even some snow
01:40across the hills. Elsewhere, it will be a mixture of sunshine and showers, and although this is where
01:45we'll see the strongest winds across England and Wales, it is still going to be very blusty,
01:49especially around any exposed coastal regions. Temperatures will be a touchdown compared to what
01:54we'll see today, around 10 to 11 degrees across many northern areas, highs pushing up to around
01:5815 degrees Celsius in the south. Now later into the evening, the strongest of the winds will ease
02:05away, but it is still going to be fairly blustery in places, especially across the north, with a further
02:10band of heavy rain moving into Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland and northern areas of England.
02:15That rain will scoot its way southwards, pushing into Wales first thing on Wednesday, the driest and
02:20clearest of the weather, likely across the far southeast. So this is where it will turn a little
02:24bit chillier. Towns and cities pushing into the high single figures, but under any clear skies and the
02:29lighter winds towards the southeast, temperatures could be a little lower, so feeling chillier here.
02:33And for most towns and cities across the UK, around 6 to 8 degrees Celsius for your low overnight on
02:39Tuesday. Now Wednesday itself, first thing, it will still be quite breezy, but we'll see those winds ease
02:45through the course of the day. There will be some rain in places still quite heavy across areas of
02:49Scotland, but many areas will also see plenty of dry interludes. The driest of the weather across
02:54the far south and southeast, well, we'll see patchy cloud and also some sunny spells. And
02:59temperatures very similar to Tuesday, highs reaching around 15 degrees Celsius, but a degree or two
03:04higher across areas of the north. And for many, when we start to see the lighter winds later into the
03:10day, it should certainly feel that bit milder compared to what we'll see at the start of the
03:14week. Now obviously it's been very active recently, lots of wet and windy weather, but through the week
03:20we'll start to see conditions calm down. We do still have a very active jet stream, but it pushes its
03:25way
03:25northwards and that allows high pressure to build across much of the UK, settling conditions down,
03:31lighter winds, more drier weather to come. But notice we don't totally escape the rain and towards the
03:36end of the week on our way to Halloween, we could start to see further spells of rain push in
03:41from
03:41the west. But if you want more details on the week ahead weather, we can catch Alex Deakin with the
03:46week head weather on our YouTube channel.
