00:00Hello there, good afternoon. The wet and windy weather will continue for a time, but there
00:04are signs that things will start to settle down towards the end of the week. More on
00:08that later, because of course this morning it has been a very unpleasant start for many
00:12of us as a heavy band of rain continues to push its way northeastwards, leading to quite
00:17a wet commute for some of us. And also it's felt particularly unpleasant with the strong
00:21winds as well, especially around exposed areas of the west. Jumping ahead to this afternoon
00:26and that rain will continue to push its way north and eastwards, bringing some quite
00:30persistent spells of rain across Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland and northern areas
00:34of England. But actually across many central and southern areas of England and Wales, a
00:38lot of the heavy rain will clear later this afternoon. It'll still be quite cloudy with
00:42some light outbreaks of rain and drizzle in places, but overall a better afternoon compared
00:47to the start. Still going to be rather windy though, especially in the west later. And
00:52actually things are a touch milder compared to what we had over the weekend. Temperatures
00:55pushing up to 16 to 17 degrees Celsius in many areas of the south, though a touch cooler
01:00in some areas of Scotland where we'll only see highs of around 10 to 11 degrees. Now
01:05it's really later into the day that those winds will really start to pick up in the west
01:09as an area of low pressure pushes into the north-west of the country. So western areas
01:14of England and Wales in particular could see gust speeds of 50 to 60, maybe a touch higher
01:19in some places, maybe even 60 to 70 miles per hour around exposed coastal locations.
01:24And as that area of low pressure continues to push into the north-west later on tonight
01:29and through into the early hours of Tuesday, that's where Scotland will start to pick up
01:33some of those stronger winds as well with fairly similar wind speeds around exposed coasts
01:37and hills. So through the early hours of tomorrow is when we'll start to see those winds really
01:41pick up across Scotland. Not only are the winds going to pick up, we'll see another heavy spell
01:46of rain push in from the west, particularly around western areas of England and Wales
01:50as this rain starts to push through, leading to another wet start across central and south-east
01:54England tomorrow morning. Turning a little clearer behind, plenty of heavy showers and
01:59obviously still very gusty winds, gales, if not some severe gales across the far north
02:03and north-west of Scotland. And where we see the cloud and rain hold on, that's where temperatures
02:07won't drop as low, around 12 to 13 degrees Celsius across many areas of England and Wales,
02:12but a touch cooler across Northern Ireland and Scotland. Lows reaching around 8 to 9 degrees
02:17Celsius. Now through into the morning, the rain will eventually clear the far south-east
02:23and it will turn brighter behind, but still very windy, a mixture of sunshine and showers.
02:28But for England and Wales, some of those showers could be heavy, blustery, some hail and thunder.
02:33And plenty of showers merging into longer spells of rain at times across Scotland. Still very windy
02:38here, with a Met Office warning still in force for wind. Also, some of these showers could be heavy
02:43and perhaps may even bring a little bit of snow across high ground in Scotland.
02:46And temperatures fairly similar across much of the northern half of the UK, but across parts of England
02:51and Wales a touch cooler compared to what we've seen today. Highs only reaching about 15 degrees
02:56Celsius in the south, which is about average for this point in the year.
03:01So another wet and windy start to the week. And we still do have a very active jet stream,
03:07but the difference compared to last week is our jet stream pushes further north.
03:10That allows high pressure to build across much of the south and south-east. So that means winds
03:15will start to turn lighter towards the end of the week. And many areas should see some dry weather,
03:20but eventually some rain will start to push in from the west towards the end of the week.
03:24Now if you want a bit more information on the week ahead weather,
03:27or you can catch Alex Deacon later here on YouTube. Bye bye.
