00:00Hello, very good morning to you. It's the start of a new week, but the weather, well, the vibe is
00:05quite similar to what we had through much of the weekend. There's more heavy rain, more strong
00:10winds to come because of a deepening area of low pressure, another one which is heading towards us,
00:15albeit this low doesn't look as deep and not coming quite as close as Bulo did. Nonetheless,
00:20after, yes, a dry, fine start towards the north and east, we have rain in the south and west,
00:26and that's going to spill its way across all parts as we go through today. The rain is going
00:30to be quite persistent for a fair few hours and could be quite heavy as well, particularly over
00:34higher ground towards the west of Scotland. Through the day, there will be drier weather
00:38following and behind across many parts of England and Wales, even some glimmers of sunshine breaking
00:43through. And I want to highlight the direction that the air is coming from. The winds are coming in
00:48from the south-southwest, and so they're dragging in some relatively warm air for the time of year.
00:54Temperatures will actually be rising through the day, and so by the end of the afternoon,
00:58early evening, we could be looking at highs around 17, 18 Celsius towards the south. That's
01:02several degrees above average for this stage in October. Later on in the evening, a wet picture
01:08across Scotland, some heavy rain, strong winds here, and then there's another band of rain that comes
01:13in a cold front, initially across Northern Ireland, but then that whips its way eastwards across Scotland,
01:18England and Wales through the night. Now, this band of rain won't last as long as the one that's coming
01:23through during today, but it could bring some fairly intense bursts of rain. Could be some
01:28rumbles of thunder, some gusty winds as it makes its way across. Also, speaking of the winds,
01:33they're really going to be strengthening, especially across parts of Scotland, with some strong gusty
01:38winds yet again. With all that unsettled weather, well, temperatures aren't going to drop a huge
01:43amount, especially because we're still dragging in some mild air from the south, and so it is going
01:48to be a markedly mild night across those southern areas, and even further north where it was a bit
01:52fresh, a bit chilly. Last night, it is going to be pretty mild, some places holding up in double
01:56digits. So, a wet start across central areas tomorrow. That rain feeding into, well, eastern
02:03England across East Anglia, clearing away probably by around lunchtime, with dry, brighter weather
02:08following in for much of England and Wales. Just a few showers here and there. More showers,
02:13though, across Scotland and Northern Ireland, and some of them will be heavy and thundery, and there will be a
02:17bit of
02:18sleet and snow over the higher ground as well. Despite the cold front coming through and slightly
02:23fresher air coming in, temperatures, if anything, will still be a bit above average for the time of
02:27year, but always feeling colder than these figures may suggest because of those blustery, strong winds.
02:33Blustery in the south, strong or very strong winds further north. Looking at the gusts then that we can
02:39expect through the next 24, 36 hours or so, and they really are going to be strengthening initially across
02:47Irish Sea coastal parts later on today. And then as we go through tomorrow, it's across western northern
02:52parts of Scotland where we're going to see the strongest gusts. Inland areas could be looking
02:57at 50, 60 miles per hour. Around coastal spots could see in excess of 70 miles per hour. As a
03:03result,
03:03we already have a wind warning across pretty much the whole of Scotland, some parts of Northern England
03:08and the tip of Northern Ireland too. Whilst I mentioned that this low pressure coming through won't
03:14perhaps be quite as deep and it's not tracking quite as close as Bulo did because the unsettled
03:19weather, the strong winds and the rain coming so quickly after the impacts that we saw from Bulo
03:25over the weekend, well, we could again see some significant impacts as a result of this. But do
03:30stay on top of the forecast. This warning could well get updated as we go through today because we are
03:35likely to have some pretty unsettled weather yet again before signs of something quieter towards the
03:41end of the week. I'll see you again soon. Bye-bye.
