00:01Ladies and gentlemen from Sheffield, England, live on DAZN, we're set to go with a special
00:07heavyweight attraction.
00:09Now entering the arena, please welcome Jonathan Chiquito Vergara.
00:20From Santa Fe, de la Veracruz, the city of the waterways in northeastern Argentina, it's
00:29the 14th ring walk for Jonathan Vergara.
00:35He's got a decent enough record, but he has been stopped on visits before.
00:40What resilience, what resistance, Darren, do we think that this guy will put up tonight,
00:46the 29-year-old?
00:47Well, he's going to have to be smart.
00:48He's going to have to be sensible.
00:49He can't be reckless.
00:50Although he's got to try and gain a tank of respect, he can't be reckless.
00:54But Leo, I really feel he's coming on strep from strep, physically so strong and so well
00:59scored.
01:00We love the Argentinian colours, don't we, Sammy?
01:03No, we don't, Adam.
01:05We hope he gets ironed out in less than 60 seconds.
01:08That's all we hope.
01:09Can you not remember the World Cup just been?
01:11I'm trying to be neutral, Sammy.
01:14I'm trying to add some colour to the party.
01:16And listen, this guy's come a long way.
01:18He's got a huge mountain in front of him in Leo Atang.
01:23And I've got full respect for him.
01:25A long way.
01:26He's probably flown in from Spain, Adam.
01:28I doubt he's come all the way from Argentina.
01:37And now, set to make his ring walk,
01:41the undefeated, hard-hitting Leo Atang.
02:07Well, the word's really catching on around the country.

03:04who is waiting for him in the ring and so far Darren's so enticingly good yeah he really is
03:13he ticks every box doesn't he there's gonna be tougher tests this perhaps could be one this
03:17evening but I've been so impressed I'm really intrigued to see what Stephen Smith the great

05:21You're ready to come
05:21You're ready to come
05:26Okay lads you both know the rules keep the punches up watch your heads on the inside obey my commands
05:30at all times defend yourselves at all times touch gloves
05:32Good luck to you both boys
05:34A week on from Dublin's Adam Alanyan performing precisely and quickly again in London
05:40the attention turns to the other precocious heavyweight youngster Leo Atang who's in with Argentina's Jonathan Vergara tonight over six
05:51rounds or maybe less
05:53the embryonic education
05:56and uh
05:57Atang looks to have the skills the jab the speed the power and the athleticism too down
06:03and i'll tell you what the following you hear the ovation there for the young man
06:08and they appreciate what they see is a very good fighter so sharp
06:11switched on always thinking about how to open
06:15the opponent's defence for those crafty feints
06:19Thomas Carty and Tommy Welsh both got to Vergara pretty early on and I guess Sonny that's the plan for
06:26Atang
06:27Yeah of course
06:28Oh right hand
06:29Just like that Adam that's exactly what we wanted
06:31Right on the bottom right hand
06:34In the opening minute from Leo Atang
06:37A string of first and second round wins so far on the slate
06:43He's 8-0
06:44He hits accurately and hard
06:49Can Vergara recover?
06:51Vergara, the issue with Vergara doesn't have the experience
06:55To really look after himself so he's gonna have to be careful here pick his moments
06:59The chin is dangerously high
07:02Solid jab to the body as well from Atang who I thought looked fantastic on the scales last night
07:10Trained by Ash Martin for so long at legions in York now with Steven Smith
07:14He wanted to be around top quality fighters he's moved to Liverpool
07:19And he looks ready to strike again here
07:23He's just so measured isn't he look at the distance control the timing the patience
07:29Such a young man but the maturity son he's on point
07:32And great to see Ash Martin his amateur coach and coach for the first year of his professional career
07:37Still in his corner still supporting Leo still working together
07:41Isn't that great?
07:42Yeah, cuz a lot of the time ego don't let that stuff happen
07:45Yeah, you know if they don't want to train with the fighters with the coach no more
07:49Sometimes they turn the nose up but not Ash Martin and Leo looking great so far
07:53Had to take one there though
07:54Yeah, it does take a right hand Ash is a great guy and
07:58Leo
08:00Made the move just for the increase in
08:03Fighters around in professional opponents a couple of right hands and he
08:08Looks very sharp 40 seconds to go in the first round you can just the Argentinian get through
08:13You can just see the weight behind these shots from Leo
08:16There's a left he's fighting
08:19Down for the second time in the round
08:21It's a right hand more around the back of the head or he's complaining a little
08:26Bet but he's brave he gets up again
08:28Will he make the bell or is this another first round victory?
08:33I don't think he wants too much more of this Adam
08:35Just got to bring his feet in the tank
08:37Gliding behind the double jab and that right hand will find a hole
08:40Now he's looking for the left hook
08:42The right hand again
08:44A third knockdown will surely be curtains
08:46Oh
08:47And it cuts
08:48In front of us
08:50Two
08:50Three
08:51The bell does save him
08:52Will the referee or will the corner let him continue?
08:57The answer is no
08:59All over inside three minutes
09:02Leo Atang
09:03Makes it nine on the spin
09:05And the first successful notch under Stephen Smith
09:10But a big hug as well from Ash Martin
09:13Great to see
09:14Terrific team behind him Sonny
09:16And what a fighter he could be
09:18He has got so much potential for me Adam
09:21Not only was he a top technical boxer
09:24Not only did he reach the highest of heights in the amateur youth system
09:28He has got the athletic ability
09:31He has got every single advantage that he needs
09:34He's running the scores
09:36His blood lactate scores
09:37He's jumping
09:38He's lifting
09:38For a 19 year old kid
09:40They shouldn't be walking around the planet like this
09:42It is phenomenal
09:44Honestly you don't see 19 year olds with this much athleticism
09:48This much raw power, strength
09:50It's unheard of for me
09:51And he's box office outside the ring
09:54So affable
09:56Intelligent
09:56My teenage daughters both fancy him
09:59I mean the sky's the limit isn't it?
10:01I'll tell you what as well
10:02With all the attributes that Sonny's just mentioned there
10:05And there's something really important as well
10:06And what all of these fans were like
10:08He's got a nasty streak
10:10There's a horrible part to him
10:11You know he wants to get the job done
10:13You know in the ring of course
10:14He's outside
10:15He's a lovely lovely fellow as you both pointed out
10:18But the man is so impressive
10:20He really is
10:21And again to point out his age 19
10:23He's just going to learn so much
10:25He's still maturing
10:26And what he's done there Sonny is so impressive
10:29Yeah and he's only half way through 19 as well
10:31He's still got a few months until he turns 20
10:33But what Matching have done for him
10:35How they're putting him on every stage
10:37Big fights, big cards
10:39And he's performing
10:39He's doing more than performing
10:41He's exceeding the expectations for me
10:43Every time he steps foot in the ring
10:45It is early days
10:46There will be much, much tougher tests ahead
10:48But it's the manner and the ways going about it
10:51I mean that trip to Ghana
10:53He's soaking it all up isn't he?
10:55Yeah he is
10:55He's learning all the time
10:57He's got that pedigree
10:58He's got a great team behind him
11:00And it's just about taking the right fights at the right time
11:02But with what the team have
11:04What Matchroom have
11:05And what Leo has
11:06It's a very bright future
11:10Down three times inside a round
11:13That's knockout win number eight for Leo Etang
11:17He'll take a right hand or two
11:19Won't mind that
11:20It was pretty punch perfect
11:22And we only got to see three minutes
11:25Two first round knockout victories
11:28Shannon Ryan
11:29And now Leo Etang
11:31And there is the smile
11:33The half smile
11:34Where's the full smile Leo?
