00:00And if someone's having a negative, repetitive thought, specifically around self-worth, what
00:08they believe they deserve in love, where do they start with that thought?
00:12Well, we think primarily 90% of the time we think the same thoughts as we thought the
00:18day before.
00:19The challenge with that is the thought that you keep thinking over and over again becomes
00:22a belief.
00:23And nerve cells that fire together wire together.
00:26So the more nerve cells fire, the more they develop long-term relationships and the more
00:32hardwired they become.
00:33The more hardwired they become, the more automatic they are.
00:35The more automatic they are, the more unconscious they become.
00:39So the process of change really requires becoming conscious of your unconscious thoughts, which
00:44means just because you have that thought doesn't necessarily mean it's the truth.
00:49If you have that thought and you accept it, you believe it, you surrender to it without
00:53analyzing it, that thought will lead to the same choice, which will lead to the same behavior,
00:58which will create the same experience, which then will produce the same emotion.
01:02The same emotions then drive our very same thoughts.
01:05In time, our biology, our neurocircuitry, our neurochemistry, our hormones, and even our gene
01:09expression stays the same because we're the same.
01:12So in the process of change, when you come up against that unconscious belief and you make
01:17it conscious, most people get uncomfortable when they confront that thought.
01:22And they're stopping an automatic process.
01:25And the body, which has been conditioned to be the mind because it's doing something over
01:30and over again, that's a habit, is craving the experience because it wants the emotion
01:34associated with it, right?
01:36So the thought of being unworthy produces the feeling of being unworthy.
01:42That feeling then, when the person feels unworthy, tends to cause the person to think more unworthy
01:48thoughts.
01:49And it only takes a thought and a feeling, an image of yourself and an emotion, a stimulus
01:55and response, and you can condition the body to memorize that behavior and that emotional
02:01state better than the conscious mind.
02:02So the moment we inhibit that thought or the moment we become conscious of and we no longer
02:07accept it, there's a biological craving that takes place in the body because
02:12the body has been conditioned to be the mind.
02:15So the body starts influencing the mind to think more corresponding thoughts equal to
02:20that feeling.
02:21So here comes the assault.
02:23And you're not only unworthy, you're everything else that goes along with that feeling.
02:28And this is where people have to make up their mind if they truly want to change.
02:33Because if you decide to confront that thought and make a different choice, get ready because
02:38you're going to feel uncomfortable.
02:39It's going to feel unfamiliar.
02:42And there's going to be some uncertainty because you're stepping out of familiar territory.
02:47You're stepping out of the known and you're stepping into the unknown.
02:50Now, this is really when you leave the bleachers and you get on the playing field because the
02:57brain immediately looks around in its environment to see if anything's changing because you're
03:01changing.
03:02And you see that nothing in your world is changing because you actually haven't fully changed
03:06yet.
03:06So the moment we look for evidence in our life and we don't see it, sooner or later,
03:11most people accept that thought, which leads to the same choice, which creates the same
03:17behavior, which creates the same experience that produces the same feeling.
03:20Then they say, oh, this feels right to me.
03:23No, that feels familiar because you've just returned back to the known self.
03:27I think that when people truly want to make up their mind to change and they become so
03:33conscious of those unconscious thoughts, they would never go unconscious to them again.
03:39That's the moment the body is being reconditioned to a new mind.
03:45If you inhibit that choice, that leads to that habit or that behavior.
03:49A habit is when you've done something so many times, the body knows how to do it better than
03:53the brain.
03:54Now you're stopping the body from being on its automation on autopilot.
03:58And if the body's craving the feeling of unworthiness and you're stopping the body from
04:03feeling that way, and you're aware in your life, how you speak, you're aware in your life,
04:10how you're feeling, and you're checking in, you're saying, do I really want to feel this
04:14way?
04:15This is that river of change where you're going from the old self to the new self.
04:20So it makes sense then, if those principles and biology work in that way, they could actually
04:25work in our favor.
04:26So if you said, okay, I'm going to sit down for a few minutes, I'm going to become so
04:30conscious of my unconscious self, my unconscious personality, that victory today would not be
04:36going unconscious to those thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.
04:39Okay, let me get so familiar with them that I don't go unconscious.
04:43Okay, I got that down.
04:45I love that.
04:46What thoughts do I want to fire and wire in my brain?
04:49And if a belief is a thought that you keep thinking over and over again, with intention
04:54and with attention, you'll switch on that prefrontal cortex and assign meaning to the act and start
05:00installing new circuits in your brain.
05:03If you keep doing it over and over again, it becomes more hardwired, it becomes more automatic.
05:07And now you're installing a new belief that you are worthy of love, you are worthy of abundance,
05:12you are worthy to heal, whatever that is.
05:14That's the thought you do want to believe in.
05:17And when it matters the most is when it's the hardest.
05:20Because if you don't have the circuitry in place, you'll default back to the old programs,
05:24right?
05:25So then if you said, how am I going to be in my Zoom calls today?
05:32How am I going to be in traffic today?
05:33How am I going to be with my ex, my co-workers?
05:38And you started thinking about and rehearsing how you were going to act in certain situations.
05:45The brain actually doesn't know the difference between the real life experience and what
05:49you're imagining.
05:50The research on mental rehearsal shows that the brain will look like in time that it's
05:54already had the experience and it's vacant of the experience.
05:57Now, keep firing and wiring those circuits and you're going to begin to behave that way.
06:01So now you're installing circuitry now to use in your life to get your behaviors to
06:07match your intentions.
06:08If you said, how would it feel to feel worthy of love?
06:12How would it feel to be grateful for life?
06:14How would it feel to be worthy of abundance?
06:17And you said, I'm going to teach my body emotionally what this feels like before the manifestation
06:25of the event.
06:26You're not waiting for your life to change to feel worthy.
06:29You're actually changing your life by becoming worthy.
06:32You're generating abundance.
06:34You're generating love.
06:35You're creating an elevated emotion.
06:38Now, our data is so compelling because when you truly begin to elevate your emotional state,
06:44you could really lock in, you know, to those elevated emotions.
06:49Your body is so objective that it actually believes that it's living in a whole new environment
06:57before the environment changes.
06:59In other words, the body's believing it's in that new future.
07:02And if the environment signals the gene, and it does, and the end product of an experience
07:07in the environment is an emotion, you're actually signaling genes ahead of the environment and
07:12your body will begin to become conditioned to a new mind.
07:15Now, think about this.
07:17If you did that every day, the word meditation literally means become familiar with.
07:22Become familiar with your old self.
07:24You become familiar with your new self.
07:25And you say, I'm not getting up until I feel this feeling.
07:30And then you'd say, I want to be able to bring this feeling up whenever I want.
07:34I'm going to keep remembering this feeling over and over again.
07:37It only takes a thought and a feeling, an image of the future and emotion, a stimulus and
07:41response.
07:42You can condition your body to believe it's living in a whole new life.
07:45And when you feel the emotions of your future, something amazing happens.
07:50You're no longer in lack or separation.
07:52So you're no longer looking for the event to take away that feeling of lack or separation.
07:57Your body's actually believing it's in the event.
07:59And so then you're not looking for it.
08:02You feel like it's already happened.
08:04Get ready because that's when your life begins to change.
08:07And so we've discovered that if you're actually practicing this and you immersed yourself in
08:14that experience fully for seven days, the amount of metabolic and biological changes that
08:21will take place in your body will be so significant that your body will actually believe it's living
08:26in that future.
08:27And yet, most of the people that come to our workshops are literally in a ballroom.
08:31There's nothing really exciting happening in the environment, but their body's believing
08:35they're living in a whole new life.
08:37A lot of the anxiety and stress we feel is because we kind of hope that we'll never feel
08:43anxiety and stress again.
08:45So there's a sense of like, okay, I can get to a place where I never experience anxiety.
08:50I almost think that that sets us up to be more hurt by the anxiety and inevitable,
08:56uncertainty will feel.
08:58I would love to hear your thoughts.
08:59Gosh, let me love to respond.
09:00We've got three thoughts going on at the same time.
09:03Okay, do it.
09:04So to fulfill the first part of that question, it's an experiment, right?
09:10It's an experiment.
09:11Life is an experiment.
09:13So if your personality creates your personal reality, and your personality is made up of
09:18how you think, how you act, and how you feel, if you keep thinking the same way, you keep
09:23acting the same way, you keep feeling the same way, your life is going to stay the same because
09:27you're the same.
09:28So the experiment is, okay, let me begin to think differently.
09:32So I got to remind myself how I do want to think, and I have to remind myself of how
09:36I
09:36no longer want to think, so I don't default and go unconscious.
09:39Let me remind myself how I'm going to behave so that I could actually get my behaviors to
09:43match my intentions, and let me remind myself of how I'm going to feel.
09:46If I'm able to succeed in that day, then there should be some change in my life.
09:51It's the experiment.
09:52And if it doesn't change, that doesn't mean the law doesn't work for you.
09:56It's just, you're not that good yet.
09:58It's just, you just got to keep practicing, right?
10:00So the act of disconnecting from your life long enough to remind yourself of who you do
10:05want to be and who you no longer want to be, that experiment then is the experiment called
10:09life.
10:09Now, it's not that you react.
10:13The question is, how long are you going to react?
10:16That's the real question.
10:17Because, I mean, I react all the time.
10:20Everybody does.
10:21But if you're going to stay there, and you're going to live in that emotional state, you will
10:25see life through that lens of that emotion.
10:28Right?
10:29So now, it gets complicated because the stronger the emotion you feel towards certain people
10:35or problems in your life, the more you pay attention to them.
10:38And where you place your attention is where you place your energy.
10:42So from a purely biological as well as quantum state, we could say then, you're using that
10:48person or that circumstance to reaffirm your dependence on feeling that emotion.
10:55So you have to hate your enemy.
10:57And if your enemy dies, you'll find another person to hate because that is the response.
11:02Right?
11:02So the body is the animal.
11:05It's been conditioned a certain way.
11:07And if it's been doing something and feeling something for an extended period of time, there's a modification of its
11:14receptor sites.
11:14It's needing those emotional states.
11:17So in the process of change, just be ready because you're going to feel uncomfortable a lot of the time.
11:24Now, the question is, do you want to stay there?
11:27So then most people think they don't have any control over their emotional state.
11:33They think, I'm just this way and I feel this way.
11:35Well, we actually can show people that that's not the truth, that when it's the hardest, it matters the most.
11:42And if you're able to really work and train your body like you're training an animal to stop feeling one
11:50way and start feeling another way, if you believe that you're an eternal being, let's just say that, I mean,
11:56just most religions talk about we're eternal.
11:58Well, most sects of thought, there are only a few that don't, whether you're going to heaven or hell or
12:03nirvana or on the wheel, you're pretty much going to be around for a long time.
12:08That moment matters so much in the light of eternity because that's the moment you make up your mind to
12:15no longer be defined by your past.
12:18Why are you being defined by your past?
12:20Because emotions are a record of the past.
12:22And so then if you're feeling that emotion, your body is believing it's back in that same experience of the
12:29past.
12:29So the more knowledge that we have and understanding that justified, valid or not, those emotions are hurting no other
12:40person but you because the long-term effects of living by those emotional states, those survival states, are actually down
12:47-regulating genes and creating diseases.
12:49Sooner or later, you're going to have to ask yourself, is this loving to myself?
12:54And forgiveness is just when you overcome the emotion, you take your attention off that person or that problem and
12:59you're freeing yourself and you're freeing them.
13:02So people do the best with what they think is available.
13:06That's my belief.
13:07And if you're unaware that you can control your emotional states, you'll rely on something outside of you to do
13:14that.
13:14Whether it's a computer game, whether it's a Netflix show, whether it's a drug, whatever it is that you need
13:21to make that feeling go away, you're dependent on your outer world.
13:24And I think that's a hypnosis.
13:26That's a conditioning.
13:27You teach people that you can actually regulate and change your emotional states.
13:31You give them the tools to literally step into a new future.
13:35So that process, of course, is extremely uncomfortable.
13:38And the question is, how long are you going to stay in that emotional state?
13:43And 50% of the story that most people tell about that past experience isn't even the truth because they're
13:51making things up and they're doing that so that they can justify why they haven't changed since some past event.
13:58Most people reach a point in their life where they reach crisis or disease or diagnosis or loss or betrayal
14:05where they finally go, gosh, it's time to change.
14:07I think change is an ongoing process.
14:10And the more we change, the more we should see evidence in our life.
14:13That makes it exciting.
14:14I found that we don't often have a values crisis.
14:16We have a habits crisis because people don't know how to reprogram their habits and they've started to assume that
14:24the way they feel is who they are.
14:26Do you know how long to take a feeling seriously, effectively, and assessing it before you kind of take action
14:35on it?
14:35Feelings and emotions are the end product of past experiences.
14:38And we can remember experiences better because we can remember how they feel.
14:42The stronger the emotion we have to some experience in our life, the more altered we are inside of us,
14:48the more the brain freezes a frame and takes a snapshot.
14:53And that's called a long-term memory.
14:55That image is being bossed neurologically in the brain.
14:58So then what most people don't know is that every time they remember that event, that trauma, that betrayal, that
15:05loss, whatever it is, they're producing the same chemistry in their brain and body as if the event is occurring.
15:10So what happens over time is that conditioning process conditions the body to literally live in the past.
15:17So if a person is living by the same familiar feeling every single day, whether it's guilt or unworthiness or
15:24pain or suffering or victimization or depression or whatever it is,
15:28it's so important for them to come right up against that emotional state because they're coming up against the known.
15:35The question fundamentally becomes, for that person, is it possible then to feel a different feeling?
15:41Now, if you cannot feel a different feeling other than the feeling that you're used to feeling, it should tell
15:48you volumes about that feeling because it's going to influence your very same thoughts.
15:53So the research that we've done over and over again is that the only way you're actually going to reprogram
16:00your brain to work in your favor is you've got to learn how to regulate your brainwaves.
16:06In order for us to begin to change those programs, we've got to get into the operating system.
16:13And the only way we do that is we've got to slow our brainwaves down in that thinking neocortex.
16:17The challenge for most people is they have so many demands in their life.
16:25They have so many emotional responses to circumstances in their life that they're living in a state of stress and
16:33living in a state of survival.
16:34In a state of stress and survival, you don't close your eyes.
16:36You've got to keep your eye on the ball.
16:38You've got to keep your attention on the outer environment.
16:40So their brains tend to work in a higher brainwave pattern, a mid-range or high-level beta brainwave pattern.
16:47And that's like driving your sports car in first gear.
16:51It's a lot of energy for the brain.
16:52So learning how to regulate and slow your brainwaves down is something that we've been very, very interested in.
16:59When you teach people how to do that, it could become a skill.
17:03And when the brain starts to relax and it moves into less of that chatter that takes place in your
17:10brain and more of kind of an imaginary state,
17:13the brain sees in pictures and images, it's more creative, we're moving into that alpha state.
17:18So now the door between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind opens up as we get beyond our analytical
17:24mind.
17:24And our analytical mind is actually what separates the conscious mind from the subconscious mind.
17:28So as you slow your brainwaves down and you get into alpha, you're entering the operating system.
17:33And that's where you can rewrite a new program.
17:36That's where you can rehearse a new script.
17:38That's where you can begin to plan your behaviors in an intentional way.
17:44If you can't change your brainwaves, then it's like your computer running amok with all of those programs and you
17:52yelling at it, telling it to stop.
17:53You're not in the operating system.
17:55Some people can get to the point where they're so relaxed that the body's in a light sleep and yet
18:03they're conscious and awake and now they're in this theta brainwave pattern.
18:06And in theta, that's a hypnotic state.
18:09We're very suggestible to our thoughts.
18:11We're very suggestible to information in that state.
18:15And that state then is where we see the most change take place.
18:19And so the person can literally change from the inside out when they learn how to get into the operating
18:24system.
18:25You've just hit the nail on the head with the constant experience everyone has to think, again, going back to
18:30what I was saying, that when we're trying to make a change, the thing that blocks us from making the
18:35change is usually stress.
18:37If I'm trying to be a kind, loving, compassionate person, but I'm stressed out, I'm likelier to be snappy and
18:44rude and condescending.
18:46If I'm trying to be healthier in my diet, but I'm stressed out or burnt out, I'm going to reach
18:52for the sugary food or the carbs and the fat.
18:55Like that doesn't come from anything else but stress.
18:58To take away the feeling.
18:59To take away the feeling.
19:00To take away the feeling, right?
19:02Yeah.
19:02So let's get real clear because I think it's important for people to understand when we're talking about stress and
19:06we're talking about living and survival.
19:08It's so important to name those emotions because anger and frustration and control and hatred and envy and jealousy and
19:20insecurity and unworthiness and guilt and shame and suffering and depression.
19:26Those are all derived, those are emotions that are derived from the hormones of stress and psychology calls those normal
19:34states of consciousness, those are altered states of consciousness.
19:37Because in stress, the physiology is that we're knocked out of homeostasis, we're knocked out of balance because we're perceiving
19:44some threat, some danger, some emergency.
19:46And so the stronger the emotion you feel to whatever stressor there is in your life, the more you pay
19:53attention to it.
19:54And so in time then, you have to keep your attention on all the important elements in your life.
19:59So you sit down to do a meditation and when you're living in stress and you're living in survival, there's
20:04only three things that are important in that moment.
20:06Your attention is on your body because you've got to preserve it.
20:09Your attention is on something in your environment and what's in your environment?
20:13People, objects, things, places, and you're very preoccupied with time.
20:19And when you're in stress and you're in survival, the brain goes onto a default mode and it's naturally trying
20:26to predict the next moment based on what it's learned in the past.
20:30And so as you'd always try to forecast the future based on your memory of the past, you can't be
20:36in the present moment, right?
20:38And yet our model of change, what we discovered is that the only way a person can change is when
20:44they get beyond their body, they get beyond all the elements of their environment, and they get beyond that predictable
20:50fusion of the familiar past and they sink into the present moment, which is the unknown.
20:56So if you can't do that because of the hormones of stress, most people will sit down and they'll say,
21:01okay, I'm going to close my eyes, I'm going to start this process where I'm going to rehearse how I'm
21:05going to be today.
21:05And they start thinking about their cell phone.
21:07They start thinking about all their emails.
21:09And they start thinking, I can't meditate.
21:11There's something wrong with me.
21:12It's my mother's fault.
21:14And they actually believe that thought to be the truth.
21:17And then they get up and they actually reaffirm it and they say, I can't meditate.
21:23Now, I can tell you that if you are willing to see that thought as just a thought in your
21:29brain and you're curious what's on the other side of that thought, yeah, you're going to feel uncomfortable.
21:35But if you had some tools and skills to apply and you were able to take your attention off your
21:42cell phone and settle your body back down into the present moment, that would be a victory.
21:47And then your body would say, come on, you've got to feel a little frustration now.
21:51You've got to be impatient.
21:52You've got to be judgmental.
21:54Come on.
21:54That's what you always think.
21:56That's how you always feel.
21:56And you like an animal.
21:59You settle the body back down into the present moment and you tell it it's no longer the mind that
22:04you're the mind.
22:05That's a victory.
22:07Then the body says, hey, dude, you're super busy.
22:10You've got a lot of things to do.
22:12You've got a lot of people to see.
22:13You've got a lot of places to go.
22:15You've got a lot of things to do and you've been doing the same thing every day.
22:18Your body's going to want to get up and do something.
22:22You're going to want to quit because your brain's telling you that you can't do this.
22:26If you had the awareness to settle the body back down into the present moment, you would be executing a
22:33will that's greater than the program because most people lose their free will to those programs.
22:39And it's that tedium in the beginning.
22:43There's something that is an uncompromising will where you keep training the animal to stay, to take all of its
22:50attention off the environment, to get beyond all the cravings, the feelings, the habits of the body, the drives of
22:59the body.
22:59And catch yourself defaulting to that predictable future, bringing your body back into the present moment, siphoning energy back, your
23:07attention into the past based on those familiar emotions of the past.
23:10We've discovered that if you're willing to do that for just a few days, you could actually liberate an enormous
23:17amount of energy from your body.
23:19You go from particle to wave, from matter to energy, and you're literally transmuting those limited emotions into elevated emotions
23:29and something really beautiful happens.
23:31If you're willing to fire the crucible and sit through that long enough, all of these emotions move, that energy
23:40moves right up into the heart and the person starts falling in love with life.
23:45They start feeling this state of gratitude, this gratefulness to be alive, this inevitable word of relaxed and awake.
23:57And something really magical happens when we've discovered this little simple thing.
24:03When that energy makes it to the heart, there's only one place it wants to go, and it goes straight
24:10to the brain.
24:10So the person starts relaxing into their heart when they feel this feeling, and the more they relax into the
24:17heart, the more their brain all of a sudden starts becoming aroused.
24:22And they start going into these elevated gamma brainwave patterns.
24:27Now, gamma is not unconscious.
24:29Gamma is actually super conscious.
24:31It's actually super aware.
24:33You're outside the program now.
24:36So when that occurs and the brain goes into gamma brainwave patterns, what we discovered is it's not a little
24:42gamma.
24:44It's not a lot of gamma.
24:46It's not a whole lot of gamma.
24:48It's a supernatural amount of gamma.
24:50Here's the beauty.
24:51We can see people do this in 15 minutes.
24:54The most important takeaway around all of this is that feeling that they're feeling is not coming from anywhere outside
25:03of them.
25:03No person's doing that.
25:06No wardrobe change is doing that.
25:08No sports car, no football game.
25:11Nothing is doing it to them.
25:13It's actually coming from within.
25:14That is the moment they stop looking for it outside of them, and the love affair begins.
25:20And so when we start feeling these elevated emotions, these more selfless emotions, it's not like you have to try
25:28to forgive.
25:28It actually is the side effect of you changing your emotional state.
25:34You no longer want because you feel so whole.
25:39How could you want anything?
25:40So we started interviewing people when they had these moments, and they had such an incredible amount of love that
25:48they felt.
25:49We measured their oxytocin levels.
25:51Their love chemicals were very elevated.
25:55The amount of gamma in terms of coherence was 200, 300, 400 standard deviations outside of normal in coherent gamma.
26:06Now, three standard deviations outside of normal in gamma is about 2% of the population.
26:11200, 300, 400, a lot of energy in the brain.
26:14So the brain, all of a sudden, is receiving an enormous amount of energy.
26:19So we've discovered relax in the heart and awaken the brain.
26:23And that process of transformation is your willingness to sit past that thought, past that emotion, and keep training the
26:31animal.
26:31And sooner or later, you can recondition it to a new mind.
26:34And the system for this new mind and this journey that you're talking about is meditation.
26:39If this is coming through a meditative practice, is that similar to the breathwork meditation practice that you just did
26:46research on, or is that totally separate?
26:49Wow.
26:49Okay.
26:49Yeah.
26:50Yes.
26:50So our week-long events are a full immersion experience.
26:55We've done the largest studies on meditation that have ever been done just because we have a community of 1
27:00,800 people that come to an event that are going to be getting up at the same time, doing the
27:05same thing.
27:06Pretty much eating, making the same food choices in pretty much a big laboratory, right?
27:12And so our discoveries in working with 1,800 people in measuring brain waves, their brain function before and after
27:23the event, measuring their gene expression before and after the event.
27:27We're measuring 2,882 metabolites in their blood.
27:32We're measuring DNA expression.
27:33We're measuring urine.
27:35We're measuring saliva.
27:36We're measuring the energy of the room.
27:38We're measuring everything.
27:40One of the cool things that we've discovered is that we have so much compelling data to suggest that you're
27:46greater than you think, more powerful than you, no more unlimited than you could ever dream.
27:51We have compelling data that suggests that your nervous system is the greatest pharmacist in the world, that it makes
27:58drugs that work better than any drug in a drugstore.
28:03A drug study is about 18% to 25% cause and effect causality.
28:08Our data is between 75% and 85% cause and effect.
28:13This is a person creating their own pharmacy of anti-inflammatories, their own pharmacy of anti-carcinogenic chemicals, their own
28:21pharmacy of pain relievers.
28:23We're seeing this over and over again.
28:25So we have this incredible data that says that this is no longer pseudoscience.
28:30This is really science.
28:32The side effect of a person's transformation has changed my belief in what's possible.
28:40I have seen people stand on the stage with stage 4 cancers that were in every single organ in their
28:47body that metastasized them, and they have no sign of cancer in their body.
28:52And we have data that suggests that you put the blood of an advanced meditator in a uterine cancer cell,
28:58a pancreatic cancer cell, 70% of the mitochondrial function in the cancer cell is diminished.
29:04The mitochondria is the energy packets of the cell.
29:06It's taking energy out of the cancer cell works perfect with what we're seeing with the testimonials that people are
29:15telling around the world.
29:16We've seen blind people see.
29:18We've seen deaf people hear.
29:20We've seen people with spinal cord injuries walk again.
29:23We've seen ALS change.
29:26We've seen all kinds of unbelievable health conditions changed by a person simply changing the way they think, the way
29:34they act, and the way they feel.
29:35How long have you seen certain things last?
29:37Like, how much does the practice have to continue daily to sustain impact?
29:43When a person has that arousal, where they're feeling that elevated emotion, and their eyes are closed, they're in a
29:52room with 1,800 people.
29:53There's music playing in the background.
29:55They're not eating.
29:56They're not smelling.
29:57They're not tasting.
29:57They're not moving about and feeling.
29:59On some level, they're having an inner experience, right?
30:03And the body is so objective that it's literally believing it's living in a new environment.
30:09And so that elevated emotion somehow tends to drag the body right out of the past into the present moment.
30:17So many people with everything from eczema to muscular dystrophy, when they have those events, there's a biological change that
30:28takes place in their body where they feel completely differently.
30:31Now, some people heal all the way.
30:34Some people are out of their wheelchair, and they're walking again, but they're limping.
30:39And that doesn't mean it's over.
30:40It just means they made contact, or they hit gold.
30:45And so there's varying degrees that we see.
30:48We've seen people for seven years work on a terminal health condition.
30:53It took them seven years to heal that health condition.
30:57Some people, it takes two years, three years.
30:59Some people, they do it in three months.
31:01There's no predictable menu that we can say it's this way.
31:06Now, when people have those more profoundly aroused states, it seems like their change is much more immediate and much
31:17more permanent.
31:18But for the most part, we see people's response pretty dramatic.
31:23Now, it's also important to say that we have seen people heal from terminal cancers, stop feeling those elevated emotions,
31:33and return to responding to the circumstances and conditions in their life, and return back to the same personality.
31:40The same personality is the same personal reality.
31:43And their body's believing it's living in that same environment, and they're feeling the same way, and they're in the
31:47habit of acting the same way and thinking the same way.
31:50And lo and behold, the condition returns.
31:54We've seen people heal themselves of Parkinson's disease more than once, have one response to some very serious event in
32:05their life that produced a very strong emotion.
32:07And in one hour, their condition returned because they literally went back to their old self.
32:13And we've seen that person turn around and reverse the condition again.
32:17Again, people do the best with what they think is available.
32:19The person standing on the stage, we've had numerous physicians and researchers stand on the stage, they're the four-minute
32:26mile.
32:27They're telling the community, I'm the example of truth.
32:32This is no longer philosophy.
32:33This is no longer theory.
32:34Here's my scans.
32:35We had someone with bilateral breast cancer just recently.
32:39No evidence of cancer in our breasts or any lymph nodes, no longer in our liver.
32:44However, I'm looking out at the audience, and everybody's leaning in.
32:50There's the four-minute mile, and that person's telling the truth, and they're telling a story, and it's not pretty.
32:56It's not always rosy.
32:58They went through a lot of dark nights.
33:00They went through a lot of their condition getting worse.
33:02But every day, they had to show up for themselves.
33:06If they stopped showing up and doing the work, they would really not believe it was possible.
33:12But if they showed up and did the work, it means that they believe it's possible.
33:16And I think when you believe in possibility, you've got to believe in yourself.
33:20When you believe in yourself, you've got to believe in possibilities.
33:23When someone else who may not have had that experience yet or may not be trained in that, they're just
33:28thinking, well, how do I solve the problem, right?
33:30Like, they're listening to me, and you're going, well, but I can't because I just, I need to solve this
33:35problem.
33:36Like, you're saying, like, oh, I'm going to be 30 minutes late for a job interview.
33:39Or I just had an argument with my partner this morning, and I've got a big presentation this morning as
33:45well at work.
33:47Now I'm stressed about it because I'm thinking about that.
33:49Or my kid just got, yeah, I had to rush into hospital, and now I'm late.
33:53Like, I guess when you're looking at it from a very human point of view, it's really hard to understand
33:58the value in this.
33:59What do you say to anyone who's thinking and feeling that way?
34:02No, I think it's a reasonable conversation.
34:04I mean, sometimes we have to be super aroused, and sometimes we really have to pay attention.
34:11And sometimes there are threats and dangers where that primitive nervous system actually works in our favor.
34:16And that's the emergency system, but you've got to also realize that you only have a certain amount of energy.
34:22And if you're living in emergency mode for an extended period of time, there's no energy for growth and repair.
34:27There's no energy for long-term building projects.
34:29And so when it's needed and you have to outrun the predator, you go.
34:34You don't sit and try to make friends with the predator.
34:36We're not that good.
34:39You run, right?
34:40The problem is if you keep that alarm system switched on all the time, it gets very addictive.
34:44It's a great answer, yeah.
34:45It gets very addictive, right?
34:47And so I have looked at people's brain scans and watched their brain get worse in the early days and
34:53tap them on the head and say, what were you doing in there?
34:58100% of the time, they were analyzing the problems in their life within that disturbing emotion.
35:05And if an emotion is a record of the past and they can't think greater than how they feel, they're
35:10thinking in the past.
35:10There's no solution there.
35:12Cross the river, get beyond the emotion, and you'll see possibility because you're no longer in the box of that
35:18emotional state.
35:19Now, that's so much easier said than done because you're going against thousands of years of programming of living and
35:30survival.
35:30I mean, 200 years ago, it wasn't easy being human.
35:33I mean, we're in survival all the time and famine, you know, disease.
35:37I mean, it was hard to be human.
35:40And so we have to lay down the very thing we used our whole life to get what we want
35:47for something greater to occur.
35:48And it goes against thousands of years of programming.
35:51It's not something that you get good at doing once.
35:55You got to keep practicing.
35:56So you really have two ways to look at it.
36:00If you're living in stress and you're living in survival and that system is switched on, then everything will be
36:05a threat.
36:06Everything will be a danger.
36:08Everything will be a reason to rush, to be impatient, to be frustrated, to be judgmental.
36:13Because that's the consciousness.
36:15That's the emotion we're living by.
36:16So now you have a problem with a coworker.
36:20You have a problem with your partner, whatever it is that you used as an example.
36:23And you have to give a presentation.
36:24Now, you really have one of two choices.
36:27Either be victimized by those conditions in your life and you stay in that emotional state.
36:32And I'll say to you, Jay, why are you that way?
36:35Well, I'm this way because of this person, this circumstance.
36:37The person or circumstance is controlling the way I feel and the way I think.
36:41Anything that controls the way I feel and the way I think, I'm victim to.
36:44Right?
36:45Okay.
36:45Or I actually can be a creator now.
36:48Okay?
36:49So when it's the hardest, it matters the most.
36:50Okay, so there's going to be a story, a valid story that's going to go along with those emotions that
36:57you're going to have to give up, that you can address at another time from a different state.
37:03If you're altered in that state and you say something, you do something, you write the email, you send the
37:08text, you'll always regret it.
37:10You'll always say, I should have never said that.
37:12I should have never done that.
37:13We've got to learn that we're in an altered state at that time.
37:15So there's only one of two choices.
37:17You either stay there the whole day and tell everybody that story or you say, okay, let me take a
37:22moment.
37:23Remember that this is the experiment called life.
37:27Okay, let me practice getting relaxed in my heart.
37:29Let me slow the animal down.
37:31Let me practice that.
37:32It took a few minutes.
37:33Now, let me breathe.
37:35Let me get my state back.
37:36Let me change everything.
37:37Okay, let me remember who I am, who I want to be when I open my eyes.
37:40And let me practice that again.
37:42Now, even if you had to do that 10 times in one day, I would say it was a day
37:47worth living.
37:48I would say it was a day worth living.
37:50And when we do walking meditations in our retreats, we're doing walking meditations so you can practice doing it with
37:57your eyes open.
37:58Like if you're going to be relaxed in your heart and awake in your brain and you can do it
38:01with your eyes closed, okay, let's take it out for a test drive.
38:04Let me open my eyes.
38:05Let me pay a little bit more attention to my inner world.
38:08Let me practice feeling this feeling.
38:09Let me practice feeling this way and let my brain do what it does.
38:13Let me get defined.
38:15Let me change my physiology.
38:16Let me change my state.
38:18Let me walk as the healed person.
38:20Let me walk as the abundant person.
38:22Let me walk as if my prayers are answered.
38:24Let me walk in this state.
38:26If I keep practicing that over and over, it's going to become a habit, right?
38:29Yeah.
38:29So we hit it as many ways as we can.
38:32We have at least seven or eight different breaths that we do because we see how they all work in
38:37the brain.
38:38We have all kinds of meditations.
38:40We have sitting meditations.
38:41We have standing and walking meditations.
38:43We're laying down meditations because we want you to be able to do it with your eyes open, with your
38:47eyes closed, standing, walking any way you can so that you don't default and return back to that person.
38:52Now, if you do default, you didn't fail.
38:54That's a program.
38:55You just went unconscious.
38:57And how many times do we have to forget until we stop forgetting and start remembering?
39:04That's the moment of change.
39:05No one cares how many times you fell off the bicycle.
39:08If you ride the bicycle now, you ride the bike.
39:11So it's the constant process every single day.
39:15And I think that sometimes we look for evidence in our life and it hasn't happened.
39:20And I think it's so important that we still show up.
39:24Yeah.
39:24Yeah, because that's where you're changing the most.
39:28And when you get to that point where you could care less if it happens or not because you feel
39:33so happy, so grateful for who you are, get ready because your life is going to begin to change in
39:38magical ways.
39:39I'm so proud of our community, not because they do the work every day, not because they're trying to be
39:44good or please anybody.
39:45They do it because they don't want the magic to really end.
39:48And the experiment is too good.
39:50They're going to continue to be a creator in their life.
39:53So then when they change the way they feel and the way they think and they start seeing evidence in
39:58their life, they're going to remember what they did inside of them to produce that outcome.
40:02And they're going to believe they're the creator of their life and less of the victim of their life.
40:05And that's empowerment.
40:07Yeah.
40:07And you can't take that away from anybody.
40:09You can't tell me now you're too sick to do that.
40:11You can't tell me you're too old to do that.
40:13You can't tell me you had a horrible past.
40:15You're too out of shape.
40:16You can't even tell me that you never meditated before because people that come, they know nothing, they get dragged
40:22by somebody and they have the most profound experience because they're not expecting anything.
40:26And we have data that suggests that when you don't expect anything, you're going to have a profound moment.
40:31So everybody can do it.
40:34There's nobody that's so special to be excluded from this process.
40:38And we have had people that have had brutal pasts with abuse, with trauma.
40:43We've seen Navy SEALs and prisoners with horrible, horrible memories literally transformed, literally transform in seven days.
40:53And I could say right now that you make the time every single day to decide who you're going to
40:59present to the world.
41:00And you get up as that person, you're going to fall a lot of times.
41:03But sooner or later, once you start to change, it's pretty hard to go back.
41:08There's nothing wrong with hormones of stress.
41:11I mean, that's the only way we could actually survive.
41:14We're part human, part animal, part divine.
41:17I mean, we have two things at work here.
41:19I think the biggest challenge for a lot of people, and 70% of the time, people are living in
41:25that state of survival, living in that state of stress.
41:28The more you understand what that actually does to you, the more you can make better choices on how long
41:34you actually do want to stay there.
41:37Here's an example.
41:38Many people who are changing a health condition in our work, they start to do the work.
41:44They start noticing, I'm sleeping better.
41:47I have less pain.
41:49I got my appetite back.
41:51I feel like I have more energy.
41:52They start noticing these subtle subjective changes.
41:55They go to the doctor, and their scans still show that they have their health condition.
42:00So they're noticing a change, but they're not healed all the way.
42:04Now, they don't say it didn't work.
42:06They say, what is it about me that I still have to change in order to heal?
42:10What thought, what behavior, what emotion?
42:12So they're a work in progress, right?
42:14Many of those people discover that they have one really good hour of meditation, where they feel connected.
42:22They feel like their heart is opening up.
42:24They feel like their brain is coherent.
42:26They feel really great.
42:27They don't want the moment to end.
42:28And then they spend 15 or 16 hours of their day back in a program, rushing around, back in their
42:35emotional states, responding and reacting.
42:37And they realize that how could one hour of an elevated state weigh against 15 or 16 hours of my
42:46response to everyone and everything in my life emotionally is derived from those familiar emotions of fear or anger or
42:53hatred or pain or suffering, whatever.
42:55Okay, so now this is where the practicum actually goes to the next level because they're no longer just sitting
43:04down and rehearsing who they want to be.
43:06They're actually rehearsing for their life.
43:10They're saying, okay, when I see that person, when I'm in that circumstance, I can't go unconscious and feel this
43:16emotion and I can't go unconscious and say these things or act this way.
43:20How am I going to act?
43:21What would love do?
43:22What would greatness look like?
43:23They don't know.
43:24They read about it.
43:25They get more information and they're building this model.
43:28And now all of a sudden, their response to people, to circumstances, to problems in their life are changing.
43:37That's because they're changing.
43:39Then they notice that their health condition starts to improve a little bit more.
43:43Now, they don't say, how come my Alzheimer's or my Parkinson's or my ALS hasn't healed?
43:49They're saying, how much more can I open my heart in my day and feel this with my eyes open
43:56all day long?
43:57If I understand that if I live by these emotions, I'm signaling genes ahead of the environment.
44:03Well, I'm going to stay in this state because it's this emotional state that is actually going to heal me.
44:08So I've got to remember this feeling.
44:09I've got to remember this feeling.
44:10I've got to remember this feeling.
44:11And now they're no longer trying to remember the feeling just for any other reason, but because they want to
44:15remember the feeling with their eyes open.
44:17Now they're understanding that the more that they change, the more that their health changes.
44:23And you can have the best diet and you could do the best exercise and you could be really rigid
44:28in the food choices and vitamins and minerals and keep your body chemically balanced and physically balanced.
44:34But if you're not emotionally balanced and you're constantly in that fight or flight system, stress is when your body's
44:40knocked out of homeostasis.
44:42The stress is when your brain and body are knocked out of balance.
44:46So you could have all those things working for you, but if you are living in fear or you're controlling
44:51and you're rigid and you're perfectionist and you're hard on yourself,
44:55it's going to make sense that that is going to have to change in order for you to change, right?
45:01And so people start getting, they start getting it.
45:03That's the only way I'm going to change.
45:05If I don't change, it's not going to change.
45:0795% of who we are by the time of middle age is a set of unconscious thoughts, behaviors, and
45:11emotions.
45:12I mean, those are beliefs and perceptions that we have about ourselves and our lives.
45:16So, I mean, this is a never-ending process of self-discovery.
45:19I mean, there's always challenges that you'll have in your life that are going to initiate you into becoming conscious
45:26of what you're unconscious to.
45:27And you've got to meet those challenges from a greater level of consciousness than the consciousness that's created.
45:32And if you don't, your response in the way you feel and the way you think being the same,
45:37and if you believe that how you think and how you feel creates your life,
45:40if you don't change the way you think and the way you feel, your life's going to stay the same
45:43because you're the same.
45:45I mean, that's the way it works.
45:46So fundamentally, it's so important for people to understand that it is actually possible to change.
45:51You know, when I think about families who live together or couples or partners or whoever you may be,
45:57you know, when you're sleeping together, when you're waking up together at the same time,
46:01when you're sitting for meals together, when, you know, we've realized,
46:04and we know that the science shows that your heart rates sync up,
46:07like your heartbeats sync up when you're with someone.
46:10And I think it's really interesting because I think today in our individualistic world,
46:15there's a big desire to do things at our own time, when we want, how we want.
46:20But if you're truly trying to build a relationship with someone else or build community,
46:24there's so much to be said for doing these basic practices at the same time together, right?
46:30It's really hard to be in community when you're in survival
46:34because survival makes us put our attention on ourselves, right?
46:38And I think that when people are not living in survival, when they're out of survival,
46:43our nature really is community, is culture, is connection.
46:47And it starts with the self, then it starts with our closest relationships,
46:52and it builds out from there.
46:54And I think that's a healthy model, you know, for the world.
46:57I mean, when you're working on yourself and I'm working on myself and I'm okay with me
47:02and you're okay with you, we're going to be okay with everybody, you know?
47:05And I think when we're not okay with ourselves, that's when it gets complicated.
47:10That's amazing.

47:33because you have to realize that the first time you hear it, there may be some inspiration,
47:37there may be some insight.
47:38But the second time, that repetition is going to help you actually apply, rewire, and reconfigure.
47:44So make sure you repeat, listen, and make sure you share this with a friend as well
47:48so you can discuss it, talk about it, put it into your own language and your vocabulary.
