00:01The cooperation between SIGRE and IEEE has, of course, always been important because both
00:07of the parties, we work with technical staff and some of our members are part of both organisations.
00:14But to be able to address topics that's coming up now, for example, joint working group that
00:21we can share together, I think this is one point at least we could have.
00:25Maybe you could add before I do more.
00:28Absolutely, I think there's all kinds of opportunities to work together.
00:33And many times we don't have the same experts at IEEE and SIGRE.
00:38Some, yes, are able to attend both, but many times we're not able to attend each other's
00:44meetings.
00:45And because of that, having the cooperation between the two organisations and having joint
00:49conferences occasionally, I think, and joint working groups is just very beneficial to
00:55working together.
00:56Yeah, I agree.
00:56And in addition to this, of course, we also have the different experts from different
01:02parts of the world.
01:03So when we can use all these experts together to solve the issue, it's really a good idea.
01:09Sure.
01:10And even the power grid is not the same in all parts of the world.
01:14So we have to look at all different parts of the world to see what our challenges are and
01:21where we need to go from here.
01:22Yeah, I totally agree.
01:23And of course, in addition to this, the colours of our organisation are slightly different.
01:29It's like, for example, in IEEE, the way I see IEEE, you're more open to new people.
01:36I wouldn't say CEGREA is not open, but for example, in a working group of CEGREA, you
01:40have to be nominated by a national committee and it's only one per national committee who
01:46can join.
01:47Whereas in IEEE, maybe you will comment a little bit how you do it.
01:50Yes, within IEEE, it's basically open to whoever decides they would like to be involved.
01:54And that really makes it where many people are involved, but not only one voice from
02:01a country, which is a different way of organising.
02:05But I see benefits to both.
02:09Yeah.
02:09So of course, when we do the joint one, we look a little bit, is it organised from CEGREA
02:16or is it organised from IEEE, and then we do the dialect from the two.
02:20Right.
02:20And we've just written this new procedure that incorporates the way to form a working
02:28group between IEEE and CEGREA.
02:31There's a procedure if the topic starts at the CEGREA level and there's a procedure if
02:36it starts at the IEEE level.
02:38Yeah.
02:38And we have actually tried it, so we know it works.
02:41Yes.
02:41So we have started on this journey, so I'm very happy about this.
02:45Yes.
02:47I really feel that with the changes we see in the power grid today, in all 40 years
02:54that I've been involved in IEEE, I see more changes and more new technologies in the power
02:59grid than I've ever seen in my entire career.
03:03And I feel that with those challenges and with the way we now have distributed generation and
03:09all of these other things that are coming on the grid that are pushing power different
03:14ways than we've ever seen power go.
03:16I feel that we've got to work together to pull together transmission and distribution,
03:22and the One Grid Initiative is just a wonderful way to do that.
03:27Yeah, I totally agree with you.
03:29And the way our two organizations have gone together now to cooperate, it's like, yeah,
03:35you're here to visit the CEGREA stand now.
03:37Of course you have paper for the sessions.
03:39It's not only to visit me and my technical counsel, but to show this cooperation that we really
03:45reach out and I come to visit you whenever it's possible.
03:49And also the cooperation we are doing now for the next symposia we will have in CEGREA,
03:55which is supported by IEEE PS.
03:58It will be in Heidelberg next year.
04:00And One Grid is the main topic we are going to address there.
04:04And of course there we hope to have a lot of contribution, both from distribution,
04:09from transmission, and also from generation.
04:11And of course we would like to have as many possible contributions from all around the world,
04:17both from the traditional IEEE PS members and from the traditional CEGREA member,
04:22and also from the non-traditional CEGREA and IEEE members.
04:26Because I think we could get, both of us can get more from distributions.
04:30We're trying to reach out there as well.
04:32Yes, and I agree.
04:34We also have the ISGT in Budapest, Hungary coming up that CEGREA is jointly sponsoring with IEEE.
04:42So we have both conferences coming up this year with the ISGT and then next year with the Heidelberg Conference.
04:49And it will be excellent to have both organizations supporting both of these conferences.
04:54Yeah, it's very important.
04:56And of course it's like, I totally agree with what you said previously,
04:59that we need to make sure that our resources are used across the two organizations,
05:05and also on the wider society.
05:08And we don't do this only for the fun of being in CEGREA and IEEE PS.
05:13We do it to build a sustainable power system for the future and do the changes we need there.
05:20So this is, of course, if people are not used to this organization.
05:23Yes, and absolutely it's been wonderful being here in CEGREA in Paris this year,
05:28and just getting to see exactly what goes on here.
05:32I have been once before, but not nearly as engaged as I've been at this meeting.
05:36So it's been very good.
05:37Very happy to have you here.
05:39And it's like during the opening session, we had a poll.
05:43How many are here for the first time?
05:45And about half the people said it was their first time in Paris for the CEGREA session.
05:50So there's a lot of new people here that can be involved.
05:53And we need them, both the young one and we need the experienced one,
05:57and we need all the people that we can get.
06:01So I look forward to our cooperation.
06:03And I thank you for inviting me to this meeting.
06:06Yeah, thank you.
