00:09I'm in the company of Konstantin Papahiliou. Hi.
00:14Welcome.
00:14For telling my name almost correctly.
00:17You have received the SIGRE medal in 2020. Congratulations again.
00:21Thank you so much.
00:22What does it represent for you?
00:24It represents almost 50 years of SIGRE.
00:28Because I joined SIGRE before you were born, probably.
00:321976, you were born.
00:331976, you were born.
00:34No, you are not, that's why.
00:36And it's nice to have this distinction,
00:40which is maybe for the other people a goal to achieve.
00:43Among all these years of SIGRE experience,
00:46can you share with us maybe one of your most memorable moments with SIGRE?
00:51The one I met my wife.
00:53Oh, nice.
00:54Because I met my wife in Paris, I think 1982.
01:00Don't catch me on that.
01:01She'll be very angry with me.
01:03We won't tell her.
01:04If I don't tell her.
01:05But she'll find out anyway.
01:07Oh.
01:08Where we met, I was for a SIGRE meeting here.
01:10She was here studying.
01:12And we met.
01:13And after 40 years, we were still together.
01:15And on a professional way, like during this kind of sessions?
01:19You see, during these sessions, it was actually one of my most memorable moments
01:26was when I was elected chairman of study committee B2,
01:30because I have been dealing with Hophaget lines all of my life.
01:34And this was a very exciting moment to do.
01:38What does the feedback to be back in Paris after virtual sessions?
01:42And maybe a word about the top leading subject this year about energy transition?
01:48I think it's always good to be back in Paris, irrespective of COVID or not.
01:54It's a great city, which we love.
01:56And I think it's important to get the message again that we should try to save our future,
02:06taking consideration of the energy transition.
02:10Although, you have to tell you, it's a difficult one because nobody knows the answer yet.
02:15Oh, yes.
02:15Thank you for coming by, Mr. Papaliou.
02:18And if I can add a message to the audience, join Sigre.
02:23You'll have the best experience of your life.
02:26Thank you so much.
02:27Thank you for coming.
02:37I'm in the company of Dr. Britta Buchholz from Itachi Energy.
02:41Hi.
02:41Hello.
02:42Good morning.
02:43First of all, you have received fellow awards this year.
02:47Congratulations.
02:48What does it represent for you?
02:51Thank you very much for the congratulations.
02:53You know, I decided a long time ago to do things that I consider right and not expect any
02:59thanks for that.
03:01Working with Sigre definitely feels really right.
03:04I imagine electricity will be the backbone of the entire energy system.
03:08And Sigre is right at the heart of that.
03:11So when I got this fellow award, I was really overwhelmed.
03:14It was completely unexpected.
03:16It means a lot to me.
03:17And I'm really, really grateful to everyone I met on this journey, to my mentors who opened
03:22the door for me.
03:23Also to the young people who started their journey, maybe just now here in Paris.
03:27And also to my company and my managers who really gave me the space and encouraged me to engage in
03:33all these activities.
03:34Regarding this journey with Sigre, what would be maybe one of the most memorable moments?
03:40That's a really difficult question.
03:42There were so many incredible moments there.
03:47So maybe the single most exciting was the opening panel in 2016 where I had the opportunity to chair.
03:54And you know, in 2016 already we said we must change.
03:58We look at electricity from a different angle and we must tell the Sigre community we must change.
04:04And we did that by translating the energy transition into music.
04:09So we had a most memorable opening panel where we had professional musicians together with the study committee chairs,
04:17playing minimal music and telling the whole auditorium, look, we must address energy transition from different perspectives.
04:26And the message is still here.
04:27We must change.
04:28We must involve other angles, other people to get this energy transformation done.
04:34Yes.
04:34How does it feel to be back in Paris for you and for Itachi Energy?
04:39Wonderful.
04:40Yeah.
04:40Well, you know, last year we were here with only maybe 60 people in an empty Palais de Congrès.
04:45Yes.
04:46And so it's great to meet everyone.
04:47And you see there's so much positive energy in the room.
04:50So everyone is really excited to be back.
04:52And I'm so happy to meet people again.
04:55So really to touch base and to talk to them and feel the energy.
05:01So for my company as well, it's important really not to talk just over screens, but really to exhibit our
05:10latest technology, which is on our exhibition.
05:13Talk to our customers directly, get their feedback directly, get questions we wouldn't get over an online session and also
05:21really discuss in depth.
05:23At the same time, engaging in the conference where we have a lot of our colleagues contributing to posters, to
05:29papers, to the session.
05:30And also they're discussing with the other experts, where's the journey, how can we manage the energy transformation, form partnerships
05:38and really learn together in this journey.
05:42Thanks a lot for coming by.
05:43Thanks.
05:57I'm in the company of François Gerin, the president of Ampère de Saint National Committee.
06:01Hi.
06:02Welcome.
06:03Hi.
06:03Could you tell us more about this commemorative project Ampère de Saint and its goal?
06:08André-Marie Ampère is a scientist. His discoveries have marked a history of science and electricity.
06:18Therefore, it's legitimate to honor Ampère for the discovery of Electrodynamics laws by Saint-Cenery.
06:26As SIE, we aim to make Ampère's work and merits known by paying a national and international tribute to these
06:37items.
06:38What exactly is your role in this project?
06:42For over 90 years now, and through Ampère Legacy, both SIE and SAMA, Les Amis de André-Marie Ampère, are
06:53the guardians of an exceptional cultural and scientific heritage.
06:59This commemoration is an opportunity for many people in the field to meet and discuss the importance of electricity in
07:10our modern world and present the challenges for the future and train young people.
07:16What are the actions that have been done to put forward Ampère de Saint ?
07:21Through this initiative, sponsored by Gérard Moreau, Physics Nobel Prize 2018, Ampère de Saint-Anne commemoration aims to increase Ampère's
07:34notoriety
07:34and present him as an example to our youth, give electricity a positive image among younger generations in a context
07:45of sustainable development and energy transition.
07:48The events include museums, exhibitions, and various conferences and activities.
07:56The website Ampère200ans.fr has been created to promote them.
08:02Among those events, I would like to stress the National Ampère 2020 Day in November 2020,
08:10the National Ampère 200ans Day on October 5, 2022 in Lyon, closing the commemoration.
08:19As we know, these past years have been really challenging, mostly because of the pandemic.
08:25In the meantime, one of this project orientation was organizing Les Journées des Métiers de l'Electricité at schools in
08:32order to revive the interest of young people.
08:35How did COVID impact these events?
08:39The initiative Les Journées des Métiers de l'Electricité aims to help high school students
08:45deciding on their future career path.
08:50Halted by COVID prohibiting public access to schools,
08:53it's now relaunched with concern teachers' association and ministry of education.
09:01What kind of link the commemorative project Ampère200ans has with CIGRE?
09:07CIGRE is a great opportunity for us to present all the today's innovating and powerful domains thanks to electrification.
09:16A quick word maybe about this CIGRE session.
09:19In this session, the SEE booth welcomes participants with our publications, including the ones about Ampères.
09:29It also presents SEE congresses, including Madpost 2023, that will take place next year in Lyon.
09:37Thank you for coming by and have a great session.
09:41Thank you for your welcome.
09:42Thank you for coming.
09:44Thank you for coming.
09:51Thank you for coming.
09:52Thank you for coming.
14:50Can you explain maybe in a few words what your company is doing?
14:54Yes.
14:54Advantech is the company that created the first industrial computers.
14:59And for the last 30 years, we've been supplying computers to many kinds of industries.
15:05And one of them is the power transmission business like we have here.
15:09Why is it important to be exhibitor here at the Paris Session 2022?
15:15We have here in the conference many people who are using our products or who want to use our products
15:22in the future.
15:22Most of the exhibitors here are potential customers or actual customers.
15:28And many of the visitors here are people working in the utilities that are customers of our customers.
15:34So this is really the gathering place for this industry and we are very much want to be a part
15:40of that.
15:41Maybe you can mention some highlights that you are presenting at this session.
15:45Yes, maybe I can go back four years ago.
15:48The last time we were at SeaGrey, we showed the first virtualized substation computing environment.
15:55At the time, I was maybe a bit crazy to think that this would be interesting.
16:01But coming back here now, four years later, this is a very hot subject.
16:05Yeah.
16:06And so what we started then was really, I wouldn't say as a revolution,
16:11but because this revolution has already happened in the IT world.
16:13But for the power transmission, it really opened the door to what could be possible.
16:19So today, we're showing this week, we're showing our first product that's really designed to support virtualized substations,
16:28which is a big theme here for automation, for protection and control, and also for telecommunications.
16:36More globally, how is it important to invest into the relationship with SeaGrey?
16:41Well, I'm based here in Europe. Taiwan is headquarters for Advantec, and we're a global company.
16:48But certainly, as far as Europe is concerned, SeaGrey is the most important event for networking,
16:55for information sharing, and really, it's the principal event for this industry.
17:01So we want to be here.
17:03Thanks a lot.
17:03Thanks for coming by.
17:05It's a pleasure talking to you.
17:06Thank you very much.
17:07Thanks.
17:07Bye.
17:08Bye.
